Horror details of how glam young mum died during BBL 'from fake doctor'

Horror details have emerged of how a young mum-of-two died during a botched BBL surgery after allegedly being operated on by a fake doctor. María Paz Peñaloza visited Felipe Hoyos-Foronda, 37, from New York, on March 28 to remove her butt implants after he reportedly posed as a plastic surgeon on TikTok. The 31-year-old visited the so-called clinic for the £1,400 procedure when Hoyos-Foronda, who claimed to be a certified doctor from Colombia, administered lidocaine to Peñaloza through a syringe. Within minutes of being injected with the local anaesthetic to numb the area, María suffered a cardiac arrest. She was rushed to the hospital but died two weeks later after her life support was turned off as she had "no brain activity", her heartbroken family said. According to a complaint filed in Queens Criminal Court, the fake doctor told police how the mum "stopped speaking" during surgery. "After I injected her, she started to speak funny, and then she stopped speaking," Hoyos-Foronda reportedly told investigators. "Slurred speech is normal during this type of anesthesia, even though it's local. After she tightened up, she didn't respond. She had low pressure and a low pulse. I administered CPR." After his patient suffered devastating complications, he immediately booked a flight back to Colombia on March 28 because he knew he was not legally able to practice medicine in the US. "I showed paramedics. I am not a licensed doctor here. I understand I am not allowed to practice medicine,' he told authorities. "I booked the flight while I was driving,' he allegedly told investigators. "I was going to go back to Colombia." Hoyos-Foronda was apprehended by police before he was able to get on his flight, the court heard. "Moments before he was able to board that flight, police officers apprehended this defendant on the Starbucks line," Assistant District Attorney Gregory Lasak said. Hoyos-Foronda told police he had performed the BBL before on other patients "hundreds of times" and had been practicing at his home "for a few months." Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said they were unclear how Hoyos-Foronda was able to access the drug. "Please be careful,' she advised. "We've had several of these cases here in Queens where people hold themselves out to be medical professionals but indeed they are not certified." She urged anyone who also had treatment by Hoyos-Foronda to come forward. The victim's mum, Gladys Cabrera, wants to see the fake medic "go to jail." She told the New York Post: "He's dangerous to the society.. She didn't deserve this." Meanwhile, her husband of three years said he had no idea she had gone to the makeshift clinic, telling the outlet: "We had been married for three years. I did not know that she was going for this procedure." Hoyos-Foronda is expected back in court on June 3 and faces up to 15 years in prison if found guilty.

Fake New York doctor shares grim details of how glamorous young mom died during botched Brazilian butt lift

A fake New York doctor has detailed the grim moment a glamorous young mom died at his hands during a botched Brazilian butt lift procedure. Felipe Hoyos-Foronda, 37, of Astoria, Queens, was indicted on Monday for manslaughter and assault charges over the death of 31-year-old María Paz Peñaloza. The Colombian, who is not licensed to practice in New York, was nabbed at a Starbucks inside John F Kennedy Airport on March 28 after he fled his Astoria apartment, where Peñaloza was suffering lidocaine toxicity, according to the New York Daily News (NYDN). 'I booked the flight while I was driving,' he allegedly told investigators. 'I was going to go back to Colombia.' He was due to catch a flight from New York to Florida and then eventually to Colombia. 'Moments before he was able to board that flight police officers apprehended this defendant on the Starbucks line,' Assistant District Attorney Gregory Lasak said. Authorities say they found a bloody syringe, used syringes, an empty bottle of lidocaine and other medications inside a bag in his car, NYDN reported. Peñaloza, a mother of two, had gone to his home for a $1,900 procedure to have a botched silicon butt implant removed when he injected lidocaine - a local anesthetic - into her buttocks. 'After I injected her, she started to speak funny and then she stopped speaking,' he told investigators, NYDN reported. 'Slurred speech is normal during this type of anesthesia, even though it's local. 'After she tightened up, she didn't respond. She had low pressure and a low pulse. I administered CPR.' When he couldn't revive her, the doctor took off toward the airport, as he knew he was not legally allowed to practice medicine in the States. 'I showed paramedics. I am not a licensed doctor here. I understand I am not allowed to practice medicine,' he told authorities. However, he assured authorities that he had performed the procedures 'hundreds of times' and had been practicing inside the makeshift space 'for a few months.' 'I've done work on many girls,' he allegedly said, according to NYDN. Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said her office did not know how Hoyos-Foronda procured the drug. 'Please be careful,' she advised. 'We've had several of these cases here in Queens where people hold themselves out to be medical professionals but indeed they are not certified.' She encouraged anyone who received a medical service by Hoyos-Foronda to come forward. The mother-of-two had arrived to his apartment with a friend around 1pm on March 28. When she became lightheaded, Hoyos-Foronda called 911 and fled. When first responders arrived, they found Peñaloza unconscious on a medical chair and she was transferred to Mount Sinai Queens, a DA press release said. Peñaloza went without a pulse for two hours, according to the New York Post. She had no signs of brain activity. On April 11, she was taken off life support, the DA said. The victim's mother, Gladys Cabrera, wants to see the fake doctor 'go to jail,' she told NYDN. 'He's dangerous to the society... She didn't deserve this,' she told the outlet at the courthouse on Monday. Theodore Paloumbas, the victim's husband of three years, said he didn't even know she had gone to Astoria for the removal. 'We had been married for three years. I did not know that she was going for this procedure,' he told NYDN. Her sister, Lucy Peñaloza, told the New York Post: 'The family is paying the consequences and we're waiting for him to suffer the full weight of the law.' Hoyos-Foronda is expected back in court on June 3. He faces up to 15 years in prison.

The Brief Felipe Hoyos-Foronda was arraigned on manslaughter charges after allegedly performing a botched cosmetic procedure in his Queens apartment that led to the death of Maria Peñaloza. Peñaloza, 31, went into cardiac arrest during the surgery, which was intended to remove butt implants. Hoyos-Foronda was arrested at JFK Airport as he allegedly attempted to flee to Colombia following Peñaloza's death. NEW YORK - A man accused of posing as a doctor and giving a woman a botched cosmetic procedure that left her dead faced a judge Monday, as the victim's grieving family spoke out. What we know Authorities say Maria Peñaloza, 31, died after undergoing a cosmetic procedure inside the Astoria apartment of Felipe Hoyos-Foronda, who prosecutors say falsely presented himself as a doctor on TikTok. Peñaloza, a mother of two young children, sought the procedure, where Hoyos-Foronda injected her with lidocaine, to remove butt implants, after experiencing pain. During the surgery, she went into cardiac arrest and was declared brain-dead. Prosecutors say Hoyos-Foronda was arrested at JFK Airport, attempting to flee to Colombia. Hoyos-Foronda was arraigned Monday on a manslaughter charge at Queens Criminal Court. What they're saying Peñaloza's family traveled from Colombia to be in court and demand justice for their daughter. "I never thought she was going to die like that. She told me, 'Mommy, you're going to live with me and the kids,'" said her mother, Gladys Cabrera Medina. "To me, he's an assassin. He's a menace to society because he was ready to flee at the airport," Cabrera Medina added. "You're always gonna have that hate toward someone who did something so painful to one of your daughters," said Peñaloza's father, Jaime Peñaloza.

Bogus Queens butt lift doctor fleeing after shot killed patient nabbed in airport Starbucks line: DA

A bogus Queens doctor accused of killing a patient during a botched butt implant procedure was nabbed waiting for his Starbucks order at JFK Airport while trying to flee the country, prosecutors said Monday. Felipe Hoyos-Foronda admitted to giving 'hundreds' of butt implant injections from his home in Astoria before the March 28 procedure on María Paz Peñaloza Cabrera, 31, proved fatal, according to prosecutors in Queens. After he couldn't revive her using CPR he got in his car and high-tailed it to the airport, prosecutors say he admitted. 'I booked the flight while I was driving,' he told investigators, according to prosecutors. I was going to go back to Colombia.' Port Authority Police officers nabbed him moments before his plane departed Terminal 5. 'He booked a flight from JFK, transferring in Florida to eventually go back to Colombia so he could avoid arrest and prosecution because he claimed that he was scared,' assistant D.A. Gregory Lasak said at Hoyos-Foronda's appearance in Queens Supreme Court Monday. 'Moments before he was able to board that flight police officers apprehended this defendant on the Starbucks line.' A search of his car found evidence of his illegal medical practice: a garbage bag with a bloody syringe, more used syringes, an empty bottle of lidocaine and empty bottles of human growth hormone and other medications, Lasak said. 'There were used latex gloves, and all of this was concealed in a bag on the floor of that vehicle,' he said. While Hoyos-Foronda was allegedly fleeing, Peñaloza Cabrera was suffering lidocaine toxicity, a condition that occurs when excessive amounts of the anesthetic enter the bloodstream, causing seizures, irregular heart rhythm, respiratory failure or cardiac arrest. She died two weeks later after being removed from a ventilator. She had visited the doctor to have a problematic butt implant removed. 'I want him to go to jail. He's dangerous to the society,' the victim's mother, Gladys Cabrera, told the Daily News Monday after attending the suspect's court appearance. 'The medicine he gave her killed her. She didn't deserve this.' Peñaloza Cabrera, the mother of two sons, ages 3 and 1, dreamed of becoming a beautician and sold tamales and empanadas in her Flushing neighborhood during summer months. 'We had been married for three years. I did not know that she was going for this procedure,' her husband, Theodore Paloumbas, told The News Monday. Hoyos-Foronda advertised services on his now-defunct TikTok page, offering procedures like Botox, lip injections and micro needling. He told authorities he was a licensed doctor in Colombia, sources told The News. Hoyos-Foronda was arraigned Monday on manslaughter, assault and unauthorized practice of a profession charges and ordered held without bail. He faces up to 15 years behind bars if convicted. He described the fatal procedure in statements during and after his arrest, Lasak said in court. 'I put her on IV. I injected Lidocaine. I injected her in the a–. I showed paramedics. I am not a licensed doctor here. I understand I am not allowed to practice medicine. I charged her $1,900,' he said, according to Lasak. 'After I injected her, she started to speak funny and then she stopped speaking. Slurred speech is normal during this type of anesthesia, even though it's local. After she tightened up, she didn't respond. She had low pressure and a low pulse. I administered CPR.' He performed the procedure in a makeshift office in his house on 35th St. near 20th Road, authorities said. 'I've done work on many girls,' he told investigators, according to Lasak. 'I've been practicing in that apartment for a few months. I have done this type of procedure hundreds of times.' Hoyos-Foronda's lawyer at his arraignment, Matthew Thomas, reserved the right to ask for bail at a later date. He didn't return a call seeking comment. After the proceedings, Queens D.A. Melinda Katz cautioned potential butt lift patients to verify their doctors' credentials before undergoing a procedure. 'Please be careful,' she said. 'We've had several of these cases here in Queens where people hold themselves out to be medical professionals but indeed they are not certified.' 'We don't know how he procured the lidocaine,' she said of Hoyos Foronda. 'I will say to anyone who is listening, who is providing that type of medicine for medicinal use to unauthorized personnel: we are investigating.'

Woman who underwent botched cosmetic surgery by fake NYC doctor has died, police say

Woman who underwent botched cosmetic surgery by fake NYC doctor has died, police say A GoFundMe created by the woman's family revealed that doctors disconnected her on April 11. A woman who underwent a botched cosmetic surgery by a man posing as a doctor in New York City has died, police said. According to a spokesperson from the New York Police Department, the office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the victim's cause of death. She was identified by WABC and the New York Daily News as Maria Penaloza Cabrera. The woman's death comes weeks after Felipe Hoyos-Foronda, 38, was taken into custody on March 28. He is accused of "performing medical procedures without a license," causing severe injuries, the spokesperson added. Hoyos-Foronda was arrested at John F. Kennedy International Airport while allegedly attempting to flee by taking a connecting flight to Colombia. He was charged with second-degree assault and unauthorized practice of a profession. Previously: Fake NYC doctor charged after botched butt implant procedure leaves woman brain dead Victim had no brain activity after botched procedure According to an internal police report obtained by The New York Times, the woman visited Hoyos-Foronda's home on 35th Street in Queens between 1 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. on March 28 to have "butt lift implants removed." Once there, a police detective wrote in the report that Hoyos-Foronda administered lidocaine to the woman through a syringe, causing her to go into cardiac arrest. Lidocaine is a local anesthetic that stops pain by blocking the signals at the nerve endings in the skin, according to the Mayo Clinic. The woman was then taken to a hospital where, the detective wrote, a doctor told police she was intubated, had no brain activity, and was "not likely to survive.' Hoyos-Foronda promoted cosmetic surgery services on social media sites, including TikTok. His page, which appears to have been deleted, advertised prices for procedures including Botox and more. It also included videos and photos of people undergoing a slew of procedures, according to the police report. Officials reportedly reexamining Hoyos-Foronda's charges The Queens District Attorney's Office told the New York Daily News that they are reexamining Hoyos-Foronda's charges as an investigation continues. According to the outlet, Penaloza Cabrera of Colombia had two young children. A GoFundMe created by her family revealed that doctors disconnected her on April 11. The fundraiser has raised just over $6,200 to help her family members in Colombia travel to the U.S. to say their final goodbyes. Taylor Ardrey is a news reporter for USA TODAY.
