Huawei and Anghami launch music app on HarmonyOS 5 smartwatches

The Anghami Smartwatch App is now available for download on the HUAWEI WATCH 5 and will soon roll out to more smartwatch models across the region. Huawei has partnered with Anghami, the music streaming platform in the Middle East and North Africa, to launch a new smartwatch app designed specifically for the HUAWEI WATCH 5, powered by the latest HarmonyOS 5. The release represents a major step forward in the ongoing collaboration between the two companies, following the signing of a memorandum of understanding at HDC 2025 in China. The Anghami Smartwatch App offers users a seamless and intuitive way to stream music directly from their wrists. Built for mobility and ease of use, the app allows users to browse playlists, play tracks and manage playback with a few simple taps on their smartwatch, delivering a smooth and immersive music experience on the go. Choucri Khairallah, Chief Business Officer at Anghami, said: 'Anghami has always believed in delivering music that moves with you. With this new HUAWEI WATCH 5 integration, we are taking that idea one step further, bringing curated music, regional favorites, and personalized playlists closer to users through the intuitive power of Huawei wearables.' This collaboration builds on a relationship that began in 2020 with Anghami's integration into Huawei Mobile Services. Milestones since then have included the launch of the first HarmonyOS smartwatch app in 2021 and deeper integrations through the HUAWEI AppGallery. The updated app for 2025 takes advantage of HarmonyOS 5's performance and user experience enhancements and will soon be available on other Huawei smartwatch models, including the WATCH GT 5 and GT 4. The partnership also extends to Huawei's HMS for Car, enabling Anghami's content to be accessed through in-vehicle entertainment systems for a unified music experience across devices. William Hu, Managing Director of Huawei Consumer Business Group for Middle East and Africa Eco-Development and Operation, added: 'As a global technology leader, Huawei is committed to creating smarter, more connected lifestyle experiences for users worldwide. By bringing Anghami's streaming capabilities to our wearable ecosystem, we are enabling music to follow users wherever life takes them, on the go and right from their wrist.' The Anghami Smartwatch App is now available for download on the HUAWEI WATCH 5, offering users real-time music access, a user-friendly interface and a curated selection of content tailored to regional tastes.
