Sanjay Dutt appears to be a happily married man today with his wife Maanayata Dutt and their twins, Iqra and Shehran. However, not many know that Maanayata is actually his third wife. Dutt's second marriage, to air-hostess-turned-model Rhea Pillai, lasted a decade (1998–2008). His first marriage to Richa Sharma, meanwhile, is remembered as a more tragic chapter in his life. Born in 1964 in Delhi, Richa Sharma soon moved to New York with her family. However, she continued to harbour a love for Hindi cinema in the US. A huge fan of late legendary actor Dev Anand, she met him in America and expressed her desire to work as an actor in Hindi films. Dev, however, explained to her that she was only 13-14 years old then, but when the time is right, he'd launch her in a Bollywood movie. Then came his 1985 directorial Hum Naujawan, for which Dev Anand auditioned and eventually selected Richa Sharma for her debut role. Interestingly, the film also marked the debut of Tabu, who continues to work as a formidable leading lady in Indian films today. Her breakthrough paved the way for her to star in films like Insaaf Ki Awaaz (1986), Sadak Chhap (1987), and Anubhav (1987). Richa began dating Sanjay Dutt, who was at the peak of his career, soon after her debut. After he proposed to her, she was hesitant that her parents would accept their relationship, given Sanjay's reputation of being a womanizer and a drug addict. However, the Khal Nayak actor promised to be a better man, following which the two tied the knot in 1987. A year later, they became parents to daughter Trishala Dutt. The happiest news of their married life was followed closely by the saddest news — Richa Sharma was diagnosed with cancer. It was a cruel irony since Sanjay Dutt lost his mother, legendary actor Nargis, to cancer too, that too days before the release of his blockbuster debut film, Rocky (1981), directed by his father and veteran actor, Sunil Dutt. Like his father did for his mother, Sanjay also took Richa to New York to get her the best treatment. However, given he was at the peak of his career, Sanjay couldn't take enough time out to visit his wife as he continued to shoot for films he'd committed to in Mumbai. The rumours of an affair with his Khal Nayak (1993) co-star Madhuri Dixit began doing the rounds. After being declared cancer-free, Richa Sharma returned to India, but wasn't even received by Sanjay Dutt at the airport despite calling him twice, as per what her sister Ena Sharma told the media then. Initially hopeful that Sanjay would leave Madhuri to come back to Richa, she soon saw reason and moved back to New York with Trishala. Sanjay also sent her the divorce papers, much to her shock. After finalizing divorce, Richa's cancer relapsed. Sanjay was in jail then, arrested under the TADA and Arms Act after the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts. Richa died a lonely death at the age of 32 in 1996 as Sanjay couldn't even visit her owing to his imprisonment. Their daughter Trishala was raised by her maternal aunt Ena and her maternal grandparents in New York. As per the first edition of People magazine in India, Sanjay told Trishala, 'You remind me of my youth. I love you beta.' 'He seems to be happy, and if he is happy, then I'm happy for him. If he found what he needs in her (Maanayata), then that's great,' Trishala said in the interview.

THIS actor once allegedly tried to kiss an actress when she was just 16, she was saved by.., the actor was... In the glitzy and glamorous world of Bollywood, it's often the dazzling and glamorous lives of celebrities that come into the spotlight. However, sometimes the spotlight hides more than it reveals. What happens behind the scenes in Bollywood is often swept under the carpet and is a lot more than what meets the eye. One such shocking tale is of an actor who tried kissing a then-teenage actress under the influence of alcohol. The people in question are none other than Jackie Shroff and Tabu. A celebration that turned into a controversy Back in 1987, a success party was held in Mauritius to celebrate the successful run of Diljala. As per the reports, Jackie Shroff, who was said to be under the influence of Alcohol, made several attempts to kiss Tabu. Tabu was barely sixteen at that time, and she was accompanying her sister (an established actress), Farah Naaz, to this celebration. Tabu resisted his advances, but this episode didn't end until veteran actor Danny Denzongpa reportedly stepped in and physically separated Shroff from the teenager. Later, Tabn's sister, Farah Naaz, who was furious and outraged, went to express her anger and even voiced it in an interview. However, later she softened her stance and labelled this incident as a 'misunderstanding'. On the other hand, Tabu never came out to speak about this incident. The aftermath While what really happened that night remains a mystery. Tabu and Jackie never shared the screen, and many people from the industry believe that this decision could be the aftermath of the horrific incident that happened in 1987. While neither of the actors has publicly addressed this matter, this incident has left a mark on the hearts of fans. Despite facing this controversy at such a young age, Tabu went on to carve her niche and create her legacy. Tabu is considered one of the finest actresses in today's time. Some of her successful films are Bazaar (1982) and Hum Naujawan (1985), Maachis (1996), Chandni Bar (2001), Maqbool (2003), and Haider (2014).

When Jackie Shroff Was Accused Of Trying To Kiss A 16-Year-Old Tabu At A Party

The film industry of the 1980s and 1990s was not just about cinematic magic, it was also a time marked by off-screen drama, star romances, and the occasional scandal. Among the many whispered stories of the era, one particular incident involving Jackie Shroff and Tabu still captures attention to this day. According to media reports, a party hosted in Mauritius in 1987 became the centre of controversy when actor Jackie Shroff, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, attempted to kiss a young Tabu against her will. The party had been organised by Jackie Shroff to celebrate the success of the film Diljala, which starred him alongside Farah Naaz, Tabu's elder sister. 3/8 At the time of the alleged incident, Tabu—whose full name is Tabassum Fatima Hashmi—was only 16 years old. Her sister Farah Naaz was already an established actress in the industry and had brought Tabu along to the celebration. Farah Naaz was said to be outraged and openly backed her younger sister, even going on record about the incident. However, in the years that followed, Farah later described the incident as a 'misunderstanding'. Tabu herself never publicly addressed the matter, likely due to her young age at the time. 6/8 As a result of the incident, Jackie Shroff and Tabu reportedly never worked together in any film. While the Hindi film industry moved on, the story remained a footnote in Bollywood's complicated history. Despite the early controversy, Tabu went on to build one of the most respected acting careers in Indian cinema. She began acting at the age of 11 in Bazaar (1982), followed by Hum Naujawan (1985). Her breakthrough came in 1994 with Vijaypath, and she went on to earn critical acclaim in Maachis (1996), Chandni Bar (2001), Maqbool (2003), Haider (2014), and more.
