Thrilling start to HM's Camel Cup at Al Fulaij

The competitions of the 2025 His Majesty the Sultan's Camel Cup Festival kicked off on Sunday morning at Al Fulaij Camel Racing Track in the Wilayat of Barka. The Royal Court Affairs (RCA) organises the festival, represented by the Royal Camel Corps (RCC). The races on the festival's first day were dedicated to the 'Hagayeg' category, two years old, with a total of 32 races held over a 4-kilometre distance — 23 races in the morning session and 9 in the evening session. Nine cars were awarded to the owners of the winning camels in the evening session, along with cash prizes for the winners in the morning races.
In the first race, Shuaa, owned by Fadhel al Jahafi, claimed first place, followed by Munhiz, owned by Nasser al Ghufaili, who secured the top spot in the second race. The third race saw Sultana, owned by Humaid al Saifi, taking first place, while Walad Ihtimam from the Royal Camel Corps, trained by Hamad al Wahaibi, led the fourth race. In the fifth race, Ghara, owned by Saif al Daree, emerged victorious. Mubashir, owned by Ali al Junaibi, triumphed in the sixth race, and Al Zahiya, owned by Ali al Muharbi, came first in the seventh. The eighth race was won by Tharwah, owned by Nasser al Daree, while Shamadan, owned by Ali al Owaisi, claimed victory in the ninth race. In the tenth race, Salsabeel, owned by Hamad al Daree, took the top position.
Continuing the winning streak, Hamloula, owned by Hamad al Habsi, took first place in the eleventh race, while Al Tayyari, owned by Abdullah al Wahibi, secured the twelfth race. The thirteenth race saw A Shahiniya, owned by Salman al Wahibi, claiming victory, and Al Naseeb, owned by Sibaa' al Muqbali, winning the fourteenth. Muanid, owned by Mahmoud al Wahibi, came first in the fifteenth race, followed by Al Shiyabiya, owned by Saif al Wahibi, who triumphed in the sixteenth. In the seventeenth race, Mansoura, owned by Mubarak al Wahibi, took the lead, while Al Rawi, owned by Jassim al Humaidi, dominated the eighteenth race. The nineteenth race was won by Al Dhabi, owned by Ali al Junaibi, and the twentieth by Shawahin, owned by Ali al Mughairi.
In the final stretch of the day, Al Tibr, owned by Badr al Madhoushi, claimed first in the twenty first race. Jameela, owned by Omar al Jabri, was crowned winner of the twenty second race, and Sayyaf, owned by Mohammed al Wahibi, secured victory in the twenty third race.
In the evening session, Surooh, owned by Humaid al Amri, won the first race and was awarded a car. In the second race, Al Fares, owned by Zayed al Habsi, claimed victory and received a dagger and a car. The third race was won by Al Shaybah, owned by Saif al Shafee, who received a shield and a car. In the fourth race, Muhim, owned by Ali al Wahibi, secured first place and was awarded a shield and a car. Raha, owned by Ahmed al Amri, won the fifth race and received a car. The sixth race went to Samha, owned by Humaid al Amri, who also received a car.
In the seventh race, Al Tayyara, owned by Bati al Maliki, took first place and won a car. Al Wariyah, owned by Salih al Wahibi, won the eighth race and received a car, while Munehi, owned by Said al Wahibi, claimed victory in the ninth race and was also awarded a car.
On the second day of the festival, the competitions will feature 20 races dedicated to the Lagaya category (three-year-old camels) over a distance of 5 kilometres. The day will begin with 14 morning races, each offering cash prizes for the top 10 finishers. Six main races will start in the afternoon, with six cars, and four icons for the winners and cash prizes up to 10th place.
