Sesharao takes charge as APSSDC chief
Tadepalli: Burugupalli Sesharao, chairman of the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC), announced that the organisation's primary objective is to provide employment opportunities through skill development for every eligible youth in the state, empowering them to advance confidently in society. Sesharao assumed office as chairman of APSSDC in Tadepalli on Thursday. He stated that APSSDC will work in coordination with government, industry, and academia, in line with the 'Swarna Andhra @ 2047' vision. He outlined several key initiatives, including establishing Centres of Excellence in every district, implementing special skill programmes for women and launching digital internships for rural youth. Sesharao affirmed that the vision of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and the public welfare policies of Nara Lokesh, Minister for Human Resources Development, will guide the organisation's performance. Under their guidance, APSSDC aims at creating employment opportunities by training youth. He also mentioned plans to develop a special action plan to deliver skill training to every household, focusing on women, rural youth, and those distant from technology, with the goal of fostering equality. Newly appointed Chairman Sesharao received congratulations from Agriculture Minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu, APSSDC MD and CEO G Ganesh Kumar, the executive directors, advisors, other officials, public representatives, industry partners, and prominent figures from the education sector.

New Oman national strategy to boost workforce skills
Muscat – Ministry of Labour launched the National Strategy for Occupational Standards on Monday, aimed at improving workforce skills, aligning training with labour market needs and improving professional practices in Oman. The strategy was unveiled under the patronage of H E Dr Mahad bin Saeed Ba'awin, Minister of Labour. It seeks to build an integrated professional system that supports productivity and meets the requirements of a dynamic labour market as part of the sultanate's broader economic development goals. H E Sayyid Salim bin Muslim al Busaidi, Undersecretary for Human Resources Development, said the ministry developed the strategy in collaboration with public and private stakeholders in alignment with national priorities. 'Establishment of sector-specific skills units is key to ensuring the strategy addresses each industry's needs.' He also highlighted the progress made in implementing a professional licence card system under the broader National Professional Accreditation System. The system aims to verify individuals' competencies and ensure professional practices meet required standards. 'This system represents a critical step towards labour market governance, reinforcing the quality of professional practices and boosting employer and societal confidence in national talent,' he added. Zaher bin Abdullah al Sheikh, Project Director of the strategy, said, 'The ministry is working to develop and implement occupational standards across all sectors to promote quality, productivity and professional excellence. We are ready to provide technical and logistical support to ensure effective implementation.'

Conference on foreseeing future in leadership, management kicks off in Muscat
Muscat: The National Plans and Achievements Conference, titled "Foreseeing the Future and Achieving Ambitions," began on Tuesday in Muscat to discuss key themes such as strategic planning, sustainable development, and enhancing cooperation between government and private institutions. The event is organised by Media Thought Firm in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour. The two-day conference highlights best practices in leadership and management by showcasing successful experiences in institutional performance development, notable national plans, and achievements. It also examines success factors and their impact on sustainable development. The conference addresses the role of modern technology in innovation, improving institutional efficiency, and methodologies for future foresight to develop long-term strategies for tackling challenges and leveraging future opportunities. The opening ceremony was held under the patronage of Salem Muslim Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour for Human Resources Development, and attended by a group of national leaders, experts, and specialists from within and outside the Sultanate of Oman. The conference targets leaders from public and private sector companies, government executives, strategic planning managers, professionals in foresight and planning centers, bank and financial institution managers, as well as internal audit and human resources directors. The event highlights successful national experiences in planning and implementation, fostering collaboration among national entities to exchange expertise, and presenting innovative strategies for future foresight. Today's agenda featured three panel discussions: The first on sustainable development and international partnerships, the second titled "Vision and Working Toward the Big Goal," and the third on "Protecting Society from Financial Fraud Through AI-Driven Technological Advancements." Meanwhile, tomorrow (Wednesday) will include five panel discussions focusing on digital transformation, planning, and future foresight, presented by a number of experts and specialists.

Oman's participation in the event reflects its keenness to promote the culture of innovation across various state institutions, in line with the goals of Oman Vision 2040. A celebration to this effect was organised by the Ministry of Labour in Muscat Governorate under the auspices of Sayyid Salim bin Musallam al Busaidy, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Labour for Human Resources Development. Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit announced the launch of two national initiatives: 'National Competencies in Corporate Innovation' and 'Certified Innovation Professional.' The initiatives seek to upgrade the capabilities of Omani cadres operating in the field of innovation, in addition to developing institutional capabilities to keep pace with future updates and enhance government competitiveness.
