‘Gentleman hero' saved suffering kitten in KC. Then he had a tear-jerking request
A tiny kitten's life has been saved thanks to a grieving hero who made a call at the right time in Kansas.
When the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City received a call about what looked to be a severely hurt stray kitten, it rushed right over to assist.
'When we arrived, it was evident she was suffering from a previous injury and was in need of immediate medical attention,' the shelter said in an Aug. 5 Facebook post.
But it turns out the little feline wasn't the only one suffering.
'The gentleman hero that saved her requested we name her Hope, because his little daughter just passed, and her name was Hope. He said, 'everyone needs a little Hope, can you name her Hope please?'' the shelter said the man asked.
His request moved staff, and the shelter agreed.
'Yes, we can name her Hope. In honor of your daughter.'
The fragile kitten isn't out of the woods yet, however.
'Hope needs us. All four of her paw pads are burned, her eyelid was burned, and she has a long road to recovery in front of her,' the shelter said.
People in the comment section were moved by the man's delicate way of asking the shelter to honor his daughter.
'That's heartbreaking! Hope is a beautiful name!! So happy she's safe now!!' one person said.
'Beautiful name fits her well!' another noted.
