Emergency training exercise being staged at Hull KR's Craven Park
People should not be alarmed by the presence of a large number of emergency service vehicles and crews around Craven Park stadium in Hull, fire crews have Fire and Rescue, along with police and ambulance crews, are taking part in a training exercise at the home of Hull Kingston Rovers to simulate a multi-agency response to an emergency exercise will include a mass decontamination unit, which is designed to decontaminate a large number of people exposed to hazardous materials, the fire service venue, which will host Coldplay for two nights in August as part of their Music of the Spheres World Tour, would provide a "realistic and controlled environment" for the exercise, a spokesperson added. BBC's Hull building submits plans to change unsafe cladding
Plans have been submitted to replace potentially unsafe cladding on the sides of the BBC's building in Court in the city centre has 115 flats as well as housing the BBC's television and radio inspection in 2021 found the cladding on the building was unsafe and posed a fire risk, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS), The planning application said the work would "remove combustible elements within the build up of the external walls and replace with non combustible materials." Documents sent to Hull City Council said that a number of fire safety measures had been put in place at the nine-storey building, which opened in included new evacuation procedures established by Humberside Fire and Rescue Service, which have been communicated to all residents. Other measures included a 24-hour waking watch at the site, ensuring the building was patrolled at all times by two trained fire marshals. Firefighters have tackled a shrub and grass fire next to a busy main road in Hull city centre. Humberside Fire and Rescue was called at 10:48 BST to reports of a blaze alongside the A63 Castle Street, next to the Murdoch's Connection Bridge. The fire was extinguished a short time later but smoke could be seen blowing across the carriageway while the operation was carried out. A spokesperson for the brigade urged people to be mindful of an increased risk of fire near grassed areas following recent dry weather and to dispose of litter responsibly to reduce the risk. Arson attack badly damages family play farm
A family farm play centre has been badly damaged in an arson attack, according to Humberside Fire and Rescue Service. Four fire crews were called to a blaze in a building at the Pink Pig Farm, near Scunthorpe, on Thursday evening. Owner Sally Jackson said the fire was "absolutely devastating" and had completely destroyed a covered play area. No people or animals were hurt in the incident, Ms Jackson added. "We just saw a big plume of smoke come over at about 19:00 BST last night and obviously ran out there," Ms Jackson told BBC Radio Humberside. "We have a building which is an undercover play, with lots of bales in it and ride-on tractors. It was very much on fire." A spokesperson for the fire service said: "Firefighters first to arrive found a fire involving a barn containing approximately 30 hay bales, which had spread to a nearby grassed area. "Due to the hot and dry conditions, the fire spread quickly." Firefighters remained at the site until 22:00 damping down the area to prevent the fire restarting. "The incident has been labelled deliberate and has been handed over to the police. Fire investigation is ongoing into the cause," the spokesperson added.
