Humberston hydrotherapy pool saved after fundraising campaign
A hydrotherapy pool that faced closure will stay open for another year after a £60,000 fundraising Hydrotherapy Pool, based at the Humberston Park School, has suffered a drop in funding and seen its energy bills treble since the pandemic, officials community pool has been helping people with disabilities and health conditions for almost 20 years. Students from the school are among those who Richard Gargon expressed his "heartfelt thanks" to people who had donated to keep the pool open. "In a time of real financial challenge, your support has helped protect a lifeline that brings joy, comfort and progress to many people, young and old, every single day," he to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, the pool has also been awarded a public health grant from North East Lincolnshire Rylatt, a trustee of the pool, said: "I am amazed by the overwhelming support we have received from the local community and to be able to partner with Public Health is something that we have always wanted to do."The fundraising efforts will continue as we need the pool to be a sustainable resource for the community for many years to come." Olympic champion Alistair Brownlee opens Grimsby triathlon centre
Olympic champion Alistair Brownlee is to unveil a triathlon training programme in Grimsby double-gold medal winner will meet pupils from Havelock Academy and Humberston Academy at about 16:30 schools have been working in partnership with British Triathlon to deliver a "Triathlon Academy", which allows students to train in the sport alongside their normal studies. Brownlee, who won the triathlon world championship six times, said he was "delighted" to launch the project. "It is absolutely crucial for any young athlete to be able to fit their training in around their education," he said."I am really looking forward to seeing what they've learnt so far."Brownlee will be joined by his partner Ruth Astle, who competes professionally in Iron Man and Triathlon scheme is open to students aged between 12 and 18, offering talented athletes the opportunity to combine up to 10 hours of training during and after cover the three elements of the event: swimming, cycling and Marshall, principal at Havelock Academy, said: "The Triathlon programme is a brilliant way to engage our young people in sport, supporting them in their training whilst combining their studies at Havelock.
