Defense Minister: Globalist world model has failed, and the future belongs to patriots

The defense minister said that patriots believed that the future of the nation was written "not in imperial centres but at home". Defense Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky said the globalist world model has failed, and the future belongs to patriots. Speaking at the CPAC Hungary 2025 on Thursday, Minister Szalay-Bobrovniczky said that after the Cold War, 'rather than becoming stronger, the West turned upon itself and started questioning its own history … and forgot that freedom is not a legacy but something we have to protect every day.' 'While others grapple with their past, we patriots see increasingly clearly that identity is not a burden but a stance, that the nation is not an outdated concept but a force that shapes the law, and sovereignty is not a hindrance to cooperation but a requirement,' he said. The defense minister said that patriots believed that the future of the nation was written 'not in imperial centres but at home', building on its own traditions, culture and community. Patriots, he added, were unapologetic about their national identity because 'we are not a multinational company or a global corporation but people of flesh and blood…' he said. In the 21st century, wars were not only fought with weapons, he said. 'The front lines are in our heads: they are attacking our culture, faith and way of thinking, because they know they can win without weapons if they can take away the truth and re-shape our identity.' The current government has 'rebuilt' the Hungarian Armed Forces, 'not as a threat but out of respect, because we know that … we must protect the country,' the defense minister added.

Takács: Trump's return to office has helped increase visibility and legitimacy of Hungarian foreign policy in US

Szabolcs Takács, Hungary's ambassador to the US, said President Donald Trump's return to office has helped increase the visibility and legitimacy of Hungarian foreign policy in the United States, particularly with regard to its efforts to promote peace in the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East. Addressing an event marking Hungarian Armed Forces Day in Washington on Wednesday, Takács said Trump's messaging on Ukraine and his efforts to broker an agreement were in line with Hungary's pro-peace stance, adding that Hungary was fully behind the peace efforts. Takács argued for preserving solidarity and unity within NATO in the current 'turbulent times', emphasising, at the same time, the need for it to remain a defence alliance and avoid getting involved in the conflict in Hungary's eastern neighborhood. David Baker, the US deputy assistant secretary of defense for European and NATO policy, also said that NATO must remain a defence alliance and return to its original function. He also highlighted his recent positive experiences from his visits to Hungary. Major General John C. Harris, the Adjutant General of the Ohio National Guard, highlighted the achievements of the partnership that has existed since 1993 between the military component he had been in charge of and the Hungarian Armed Forces. He said Hungarian Armed Forces Day highlighted the strength of US-Hungarian relations as a relationship between two allies linked by strategic political and diplomatic ties. The event at the Hungarian embassy was hosted by Takács and Hungary's two military attachés. It was attended by representatives of the new US administration as well as members of the diplomatic corps and leaders of military attaché offices in the US.

Defense Ministry: Hungarian gripens at largest NATO exercise in Denmark

Aircraft from Hungary's Kecskemet Air Base will also participate in complex deterrence and defense operations in realistic multinational combat settings. The defense ministry said on Wednesday that five JAS-39 Gripen aircraft of the Hungarian Armed Forces have been moved to the Skrydstrup air base in Denmark to participate in the Ramstein Flag 2025 multinational tactical-level live-fly exercise underway in Dutch, German and Danish airspace until April 11. During this year's Ramstein Flag, which is one of the most important NATO fly exercises, Hungarian aircraft will cooperate with fifth-generation F-15 stealth fighters, the statement said. Aircraft from Hungary's Kecskemet Air Base will also participate in complex deterrence and defense operations in realistic multinational combat settings, it added. The ministry said that Hungary's air force had proven its preparedness in an international environment multiple times, and the Ramstein Flag 2025 exercise was another important step in maintaining and developing the combat readiness of pilots, fighter jets and staff. It added that for Hungary's army, Ramstein Flag 2025 was not only a military exercise but a strategically important event that could contribute to increasing the region's security and strengthen ties with allies.
