People get hooked at West Virginia Fishing, Hunting, and Outdoor Sports Show

MORGANTOWN, (WBOY) — The 23rd West Virginia Fishing, Hunting, and Outdoor Sports Show took place over the weekend at the Hazel and J.W. Ruby Community Center at Mylan Park, which offered a comprehensive selection of outdoor gear all under one roof. Expo officials shared that the event offers something for the whole family, not just hunters and fishermen. In addition to the outdoor gear, attendees had the chance to see live reptiles, hawks, and falcons and enjoy some entertainment for kids. Cpl. Aaron Clevenger with the West Virginia Natural Resources Police told 12 News that the event also teaches outdoor safety. 'We want everybody to be safe,' Clevenger said. 'As far as boating, you know, make sure all your equipment is good, have your life jackets. The hunting aspect of it, just make sure whatever you're shooting at you know what it is, identify your target, just be careful with a firearm.' Kingwood VFD selling emergency vehicle, utility pickup Organizers emphasized that bringing the show to life requires months of dedicated planning and preparation year-round. Preparations for next year's West Virginia Fishing, Hunting, and Outdoor Sports Show are already underway, with a waiting list for vendors. Event Co-coordinator for the West Virginia Fishing, Hunting and Outdoor Sports Show Kelly Ayersman also stressed that there is something for everyone at the show, no matter what kind of outdoor activity you enjoy. 'There is so much that will drive you outside, whether it's a motorcycle, whether it's trout pond fishing, we have trout pond in the back, the kids are absolutely loving it,' Ayersman said. 'And so, what we hope happens is that those kids turn and around and they're like, 'mom, dad instead of watching T.V. we want to go fish.' Show officials highlighted that the event featured over 150 vendors across more than 200 booths, offering a diverse selection of products such as RVs, ATVs, boats, fishing rods, firearms, and ammunition.
