LIV Golf stars give their true thoughts about Phil Mickelson's behaviour

Phil Mickelson's HyFlyers GC team, consisting of Cameron Tringale, Brendan Steele and Andy Ogletree, all spoke to the media ahead of LIV Golf's return in Virginia When it comes to Phil Mickelson, you would be hard pressed to find anybody who has a negative opinion of him. The 54-year-old was at the centre of admiration as his LIV Golf team-mates heaped praise on his incredible career and enduring thirst for knowledge. During a press event for the upcoming Saudi-backed series in Virginia, Mickelson's HyFlyers GC squad waxed lyrical about him. His team members, including Cameron Tringale, Brendan Steele and Andy Ogletree, all stepped up to the mic to speak with media representatives. ‌ Questions naturally gravitated towards six-time major winner Mickelson, particularly after he hinted that the upcoming US Open could be his last at Oakmont Country Club, a venue where he's notoriously finished as a runner-up six times. ‌ Joaquin Neimann, who captains Torque GC, didn't hold back in lauding Mickelson's relentless drive for self-improvement despite an already monumental career. "He wants to learn," the Chilean golf star said. "He has a lot of information between his church book at the Masters. He was making me hit putts from all over the place, 'know this, remember this'. I know he's that way and he works that way, and he thinks that he will get better that way." When asked to evaluate the legacy of 'Lefty', Mickelson's team-mates Steele, Tringale and Ogletree paid a heartfelt tribute to their captain, unanimously praising his work ethic, selflessness and generosity. Steele, 42, sang Mickelson's praises, saying: "From the first time that I met him through to this very day, it's really incredible. It's infectious. He's always helped me a ton on and off the golf course. "I just never see the guy slow down. He is just an incredible player. The longevity that he's had, how strong he is still, how far he hits it, how hard he works. Everything that he does still is really incredible. Just a model for me to follow after." ‌ Tringale, 37, echoed Steele's sentiments, saying: "I think we all have tremendous respect for Phil. With what he's done in the game, and I can say personally just from the last couple years, off the golf course. "Phil is one of the best people I know. He's selfless. When you interact with him, it's meaningful. I think it's authentic. ‌ "I think the way people feel, the way I feel when I leave an engagement with Phil is always better. I think that's something a lot of people don't know unless they've been lucky enough to have an encounter with Phil." At the age of 27, Ogletree couldn't be more elated about having the chance to tap into Mickelson's wisdom. The young American golfer expressed his immense appreciation for Mickelson's mentorship, saying: "Getting to know Phil personally has been an amazing experience. "There's not a time that goes by where he's not reaching out and asking how everything is going. He's very involved, as involved as we want him to be with any question that we might ask. "I feel very comfortable asking Phil anything from golf to life to anything, and he's been very generous with his time and helping me with my swing and with my short game and with anything that I might want to ask him. "For that, I'm just truly grateful. To be able to pick the brain of one of the greatest of all time is a really cool thing to be able to do."

Bryson DeChambeau admired by President Trump's golf game

GAINESVILLE, VA – On Friday, June 6, LIV Golf will tee off near the nation's capital – and President Donald Trump is already inspiring one golfer in his game. Ahead of the golf tournament taking over the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club this weekend, Crushers GC Captain Bryson DeChambeau talked about his most recent "side quests" – including flying a helicopter to the Utah Salt Flats and hitting golf balls off the White House south lawn. "Hitting in the White House was incredibly special. I never thought in my life I'd get an opportunity to do that. But the president himself was like, 'just go out there and hit some shots,' and I'm like, 'okay, yes sir.'" The two-time U.S. Open Champion, DeChambeau is at the top of the LIV Golf leaderboard. In an interview with FOX, he says he admires President Trump's straight drives. "I admire how straight he hits the golf ball off the tee. It's pretty impressive. For his age and how well he golfs, it's admirable that he has the time to take care of the world's problems and also be as good of a golfer as he is," DeChambeau says. Six-time major champion Phil Mickelson also spoke to the media on Wednesday morning. Answering questions about a possible last dance at the U.S. Open in Oakmont starting June 12. Mickelson says he's focusing on being an asset to his team, HyFlyers GC. "I want this team to succeed. I don't want to hold it back. If I'm holding it back, then it's time for me to move on and get somebody else in here," Mickelson said. Along with his teammates, Andy Ogletree, Brendan Steele, and Cameron Tringale, the founder of Bunkers in Baghdad, Joe Hanna joined them onstage. Hanna and the HyFlyer GC team talked about the latest milestone they've reached in their partnership. "Together, they have donated more than 16 million golf balls and 1.6 million golf clubs to U.S. troops stationed around the world," the group says in a press release. Mickelson also talked about LIV's global expansion since joining the league three years ago. "We want all the best players in the world to be able to compete against each other more often and on a global scale," Mickelson said. "And the model that I was a part of for decades just didn't, just didn't allow for that." The LIV Golf tournament tees off at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club on Friday at 12:05 ET.

The dramatic video shows the plane losing control, touching down, bouncing slightly, and then making a rough landing on the uneven golf course ground. The video also captured one of the golfers saying, "Holy schnikes!" as the plane hurtled towards them. A few seconds later, a cart driver was quick to react, exclaiming, "I'm moving, I'm moving!" The dramatic incident quickly made its way to social media, with golf personality Roger Steele sharing a video of the crash landing on platform X. He captioned it saying: "This happened at Riv today. I pray I'm never this late for a tee time, but I do pray for the means to pull up this way if I was." This happened at Riv today. Indeed, an impressive feat, which positioned Mickelson to make a large decision for his company, For Wellness. In a recent video with Grant Horvat, where he challenged Josh Allen & John Rahm to an 18-hole 2v2 match, Lefty approached the 25-year-old golf influencer. "You have been so kind in introducing me to YouTube space and all of your subscribers and teaching me kind of like what this is all about." "You have been so kind to everybody at For Wellness about using our product and promoting it and so forth. We have been great partners on the course, and I want to be partners off the course. And everybody at For Wellness agrees." "We are giving you equity in For Wellness to be a partner in the company as a thank you for what you have meant to us." Horvat could not control his smile, and his instant reply was, "Phil!" Grant paused and exhaled deeply, saying, "Thank you, oh my gosh." Next? Phil Mickelson just hugged his new partner and expressed, "You are a good, good man, and we really appreciate everything you have done, so thank you." The post was later shared by the Creator Classic Winner himself as he typed out the caption: "I'm speechless! Thank you @forwellness @philmickelson." YouTube Golf only continues to grow. LIV Golf Mexico City preview: Can Joaquin Niemann keep hot streak going?

LIV Golf returns to action this week with LIV Golf Mexico City, the sixth tournament of the 2025 league schedule. Here is everything to know before catching all the action live on FOX Sports. When: April 25-27 Where: Club de Golf Chapultepec, Naucalpan, Mexico Competition: Three rounds/54 holes of stroke play Field: 54 players – 13 teams of four players each, and two wild cards Shotgun Start local time (CT):Rd. 1, 1:05 2, 12:05 3, 12:05 p.m. CLUB DE GOLF CHAPULTEPECNaucalpan, Mexico Par 71Yardage 7,385 LIV Golf makes its first visit to Mexico City, which has a metro population of nearly 23 million. That makes it the largest city to ever host a LIV Golf tournament. The host course is Club de Golf Chapultepec, which is located 7,800 feet – roughly 1.36 miles – above sea level. That makes it the highest elevated city to host a LIV Golf event. Lots of people. Lots of altitude. LIV Golf Mexico City promises to be one of the league's most unique and interesting tournaments in its young history. "I really enjoy Mexico City," said HyFlyers GC Captain Phil Mickelson, LIV Golf's elder statesman and a World Golf Hall of Famer. "Some great things there. Great restaurants. Great food. Great people. And the golf course is spectacular." Mickelson has enjoyed success at the host course, having won a World Golf Championships event there in 2018. In fact, all four WGC events that Club de Golf Chapultepec hosted were won by current LIV Golf players, with 4Aces GC Captain Dustin Johnson winning twice and his teammate Patrick Reed winning the most recent one in 2020. "It's an amazing city," Reed said, "and a proper golf course." Players will certainly be challenged by the high elevation that will increase the distances of shots. A 7-iron that may travel 185 yards at sea level could see a 20-30 yard increase. And no telling how far driving distance leader Bryson DeChambeau's tee shots will go. "The biggest challenge is the altitude and getting the distance control down," Mickelson said. "Once you have that, you can really appreciate how beautiful the golf course is and the area around it."
