Kharge to address Congress workers' meeting today

All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Mallikarjun Kharge, who arrived in Hyderabad on Thursday, would address the heads of village units of the Congress in Telangana, which the party says is the biggest such meeting of the Congress president.
He was received at the airport by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, AICC in-charge of TG Meenakshi Natarajan and TPCC president Mahesh Goud.
During his address, Mr. Kharge is likely to focus on Congress party's 'Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan' programme, being held across the country. The meeting has a lot of significance for the morale of the party workers as they brace for the local body elections soon.
Leaders queue up
On his arrival at a private hotel in the city, senior leaders queued up to meet the party president. Minister Konda Surekha and her husband Konda Murali, who were in the thick of political action criticising the Warangal Congress leaders, met Mr. Kharge apparently to explain their position.
Ministerial aspirants Prem Sagar Rao, P Sudarshan Reddy, T Rammohan Reddy, Balu Naik and Malreddy Ranga Reddy were among those who called on Mr. Kharge. He is said to have pacified them on why they had to be left out of the Cabinet expansion. Their services would be utilised as per their seniority.
Prof. Jayashankar Telangana Agriculture University Vice Chancellor Aldas Janaiah, Education Commission Chairman Akunuri Murali were among those who met. They apparently explained the steps being taken to strengthen education in Telangana.
The Congress president is also expected to meet the senior leaders on Friday morning to get their feedback on the government's performance and party's preparation for the upcoming local body polls.
