Coronation Street fans just learning beloved star has little-known talent
Coronation Street fans have been left amazed as they discovered something they 'didn't realise' about one of their favourite actors, and it turns out he has a hidden talent Coronation Street lovers have been floored after learning a little-known fact about one of the show's stars. Actor Andy Whyment has graced our screens for the past quarter-century as the endearing Kirk Sutherland, not counting his uncredited appearances. In fact, he made brief appearances on the ITV soap in 1990 and 1997, where he was simply referred to as Mark. He also had a minor role as Wayne, a man buying fireworks in The Kabin. It wasn't until the turn of the millennium in 2000 that Andy officially joined the regular cast as Kirk. However, it's Andy's recent adventures beyond the cobbles of Weatherfield that have set tongues wagging. The soap star was among the first to witness Noel and Liam Gallagher 's homecoming performance as they kicked off their five-show run at Heaton Park on Friday night (July 11), reports the Manchester Evening News. Oasis' sold-out series of hometown gigs, which will run until July 20, are expected to draw 340,000 fans from around the world to Manchester over the coming week. Thanks to his mate Shaun Ryder, Andy got to experience the Gallagher brothers' first Manchester gig since 2009. The Corrie star and Happy Mondays frontman struck up a friendship after appearing together on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here. The clip was originally posted by @traveltradeinsider on Instagram: "Based on this impromptu performance by @andywhy36 while we were at the @f1 he should be the @oasis warm up. "What a talented individual, showing how to nail the @kingsofleon Use Somebody. Thinking we need @simoncowell to get him on Celebrity X Factor!" Andy responded to the buzz: "It's was a fantastic weekend mate, always love to get up and do a song or two when there is a microphone available." The Instagram post also drew in heaps of praise. @icedabullz_1 was impressed: "Wow didn't realise that Kirk can sing better than most singers out there." @mercer. jayne enthused: "Wow Kirky, bloody brilliant!" @nelliebarfoot complimented: "Wow brilliant voice. Shark attack at 'Ant and Dec beach' leaves teenager in serious condition
A shark attacked a boy at Cabarita Beach on Sunday and he is now in hospital with serious arm injuries A teenage boy has suffered serious injuries after being bitten by a suspected Great White shark at a beach in New South Wales regularly used by TV hosts Ant and Dec. Australian emergency services were called to Cabarita Beach, between Tweed Heads and Byron Bay, at 3.50pm on Sunday after the attack. Surfers and two off-duty paramedics rushed to the boy's aid, reportedly applying a tourniquet to help restrict the bleeding. The teen suffered injuries to his arms and hands and was airlifted to Gold Coast University Hospital by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter in a "serious but stable" condition. ITV hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, have regularly been spotted enjoying downtime at Cabarita Beach in Australia during the filming of " I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!". They were seen having lunch together at a local cafe and also have been pictured enjoying the beach with their families including regularly swimming there. In NSW, Australia, shark fatalities are rare but it is thought there have been three deaths since 2021. The recent attack comes just weeks after a 17-year-old girl was mauled to death by a shark while swimming at a popular tourist spot at Bribie Island, north of Brisbane. Emergency services had rushed to the scene, with victim Charlize Zmuda treated for life-threatening upper body injuries. Tragically, she later died. Her devastated family said after the incident that they wanted to focus on "incredible life she lived and not the awful way she died". They said in a statement: "Charlize was loved by many and was such a shining light who truly touched the lives of everyone she met." Local Chris Potter told the Courier Mail at the time of what he saw as the devastating scenes unfolded: "People originally thought she had just been caught in a rip. "It was shocking."

Kim Woodburn tributes flood in following news of her death
The TV personality, who also appeared on Celebrity Big Brother (2017), I'm A Me Out of Here (2009) and Celebrity Cooking School (2022), died at the age of 83 following a short illness, her manager said on Tuesday (June 17). A statement said: 'It is with immense sadness that we let you know our beloved Kim Woodburn passed away yesterday following a short illness. 'Kim was an incredibly kind, caring, charismatic and strong person. Kim Woodburn has died at the age of 83. In a statement provided to The Metro, Mackenzie said: "Kim was a tormented soul, but now she's finally at peace. We clashed often. "Behind the fierce persona was deep pain and incredible strength. She survived because she had to. I hope she's resting now. "She was an unforgettable woman." Other celebrities took to social media to share their tributes. The Made In Chelsea star had been due to play for the England team against the Rest of the World but confirmed during Friday's This Morning that he had been forced to quit through injury. It comes days after he picked up a torn calf while embarking on a 260-mile fundraising run from Stamford Bridge to the home of Manchester United ahead of the match. As a result of the injury, he will now be participating from the sidelines as a coach rather than taking to the pitch alongside the likes of Paul Scholes, Jill Scott and singer Tom Grennan. "I'm still very sore, still got the torn calf, however I am here at Soccer Aid HQ and it does not get better than this," he told This Morning hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary. "We've still got the management team of England, we've got Vicky McClure, Tyson Fury, who's stepping into some new shoes and Harry Redknapp. "But also because I'm not going to be able to run around, you've also got me, part of the management team. Come on baby!" Article continues below Confirming that he would not be playing, Thompson added: "Yeah I came here with high hopes and went to see Gary the physio and I can kick a ball from a standing start, but when it comes to like general chaos of playing competitive sport there's just no way. "I can't really run properly so yeah. They were very kind and said we still want you to be a part, so I get to go on the dark side with Tyson Fury." The 2023 I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here winner's withdrawal comes less than 24 hours after he came face-to-face with his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend Louis Tomlinson at Soccer Aid training earlier this week. In December, Thompson split from his girlfriend of five years, Zara McDermott, who herself rose to fame on the fourth series of Love Island in 2018 Weeks later, McDermott went public with her new romance with One Direction star Tomlinson, with the pair since jetting off on romantic getaways to Costa Rica and Los Angeles. Thompson has insisted there are "no hard feelings" between him and Tomlinson, but the relationship drama has dominated headlines in the lead-up to the match. While they are no longer set to share the pitch together, all eyes are set to be on the pair when the match gets underway on Sunday night. Thompson is not the only big-name star to pull out of the charity match, with Bear Grylls also withdrawing from the England squad after picking up a "stupid" hamstring injury. On Friday morning, the survival expert told Lorraine host Ranvir Singh: "I know it's a hard one, this for me. I picked up a stupid injury. "Yeah, doing some Soccer Aid training, and some sprints and pulled a hamstring. I'm back on Running Wild next week, so I've got to try and get that to recover. "But I'm gutted. I think Soccer Aid is one of the most iconic things on TV through the year and it's such a beautiful cause as well for UNICEF." As well as Tomlinson, the England team features ex-pros including Gary Neville and Joe Hart as well as celebrities including Dame Denise Lewis, Bella Ramsey and Sir Mo Farah.
