Laura Whitmore to make her Cork stage debut in The Girl on the Train
The Bray native will make her Cork stage debut when she stars as Rachel Watson in the smash-hit Wiltshire Creative production of The Girl on the Train. The thriller, based on Paula Hawkins' internationally acclaimed best-selling novel, is produced by Melting Pot and Josh Andrews Productions. Whitmore's performance in the role has already captivated audiences across the UK, following its opening at Brighton's Theatre Royal in June. After the Cork run, the play will then move to Bord Gáis Energy Theatre in Dublin. The completing company cast members, are Daniel Burke as Kamal Abdic, Zena Carswell as Anna, Samuel Collings as Scott Hipwell, Freya Parks as Megan Hipwell, Paul McEwan as DI Gaskill, Edward Harrison as Tom Watson and understudies Ellie Gallimore and Oliver Brooke. The Girl on the Train features Rachel Watson who longs for a different life. Her only escape is the perfect couple she watches through the train window every day, happy and in love. Or so it appears. When Rachel learns that the woman she's been secretly watching has suddenly disappeared, she finds herself as a witness and even a suspect in a thrilling mystery in which she will face bigger revelations than she could ever have anticipated. Ms Whitmore who trained at the Leinster School of Music and Drama, studied Shakespeare at RADA and holds a degree in Journalism from Dublin City University admitted she was obsessed by the book when it first came out. 'I I love it when you find a book and all you can think about is that story. "You wake up a little bit earlier to read the book and stay up too late to finish it. I am excited to show people my portrayal of Rachel this summer,' she added. Whitmore, who has fronted shows on MTV and I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here spin-off, Celeb Juice has enjoyed a very successful career to date. Her film/TV acting credits include Queenie, Hulu's Four Weddings and a Funeral, 4.3.2.1 and Storage 24. Her first lead in a feature film 'A Mother For An Hour' is out later this year as well as interactive sci fi thriller 'Hello Stranger' starring Sir Derek Jacobi. In 2022 she made her West End debut as Jenny in 2.22: A Ghost Story and returned home to play Lauren in its limited Dublin run in 2024. The successful radio and television broadcaster also launched her documentary Laura Whitmore Investigates in 2023 and she is currently working on a new documentary series. This year she also embarked on Comic Relief's 'Snow Way Back' Arctic Trek to raise vital funds for Red Nose Day which can be seen in a primetime BBC1 documentary. She currently hosts BBC Podcast, Murder They Wrote alongside Iain Stirling. She started her TV career in 2008 winning MTV's Pick me MTV and becoming the face of MTV Europe for almost a decade. She has interviewed some of the biggest musical artists and actors in the world. In March 2021 she released her first book, 'No One Can Change Your Life Except For You' which has gone on to become a Sunday Times Bestseller. Loose Women's Jane Moore 'in shock' as she recalls last meeting with Ozzy Osbourne
Loose Women star Jane Moore made a special appearance on the lunchtime chat show to recall her friendship with the late Black Sabbath star Ozzy Osbourne following his death TV star Jane Moore has recalled her last meeting with her close friend Ozzy Osbourne before he died. The Loose Women star, 63, was close friends with the Black Sabbath rocker and his wife Sharon. And, following his death on Tuesday at the age of 76 following numerous health issues, she has recalled going to his final gig just weeks ago and explained that he was "nervous" before he went on stage. The journalist is currently on holiday but appeared on the ITV lunchtime show via video link where she spoke of her 'shock' at his death. She said: "It was an incredible shock. I'm on holiday out in France and I first got a call mid-afternoon. To be honest, I didn't believe it. Ozzy has been subject to so many online hoaxes about his death over the years so I just thought it was another one. I only saw him just over two weeks ago when he did his farewell concert with Black Sabbath in Villa Park Birmingham, which is just a couple of minutes from the house he grew up in. "As everyone knows, Ozzy, because of Parkinson's, was in a wheelchair so they had to work out how to get out of him. Quite an achievement, he sang four solo songs and then four with Black Sabbath sitting down." Discussing her last meeting with Ozzy, which occurred backstage before the gig, Jane said: "Sharon took me to see him in his dressing room just before he went on stage and he was nervous because it was his home town and his home crowd but it was an unqualified success. " Jane also pointed out just how "sad" Ozzy's passing is because he was very much compos mentis up until the end, as she said: "I stayed for a bit after the concert and when I left, there was loads of crowds still hanging around. Big, tough looking biker fans just crying with joy at having seen their idol. It's incredibly sad because mentally, he was still there." The former I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here star, who spoke to Kaye Adams, Coleen Nolan, Kelle Bryan and Sue Cleaver, even moved in with the Osbourne clan when she was working as a ghost writer on Sharon's memoir and recalled having early morning chats with the late rock star during that time, and explained: "I'd wake up very early in the morning, write up yesterday's notes before the next day started. But Ozzy used to get up really early to talk to me and because I trained as a journalist in Birmingham, I'm used to the accent so I could understand it when a lot of people in LA just didn't know what he was saying. He was so he was pleased to have someone to chat with, and he had so many funny stories." Last year, Jane was invited to interview Sharon on her UK tour, and spoke about how the pair were dedicated to each other right up until the end despite the 'tempestuous' nature of their marriage. She said: "They had a tempestuous marriage, I did a Sharon with tour last year, she did a talk show on stage where I interviewed her. "She's probably the most honest person I've interviewed in my life. She freely admitted they were co-dependent, she said 'I can't live without him and he can't live without me...' and he used to say the same." News of Ozzy's death broke on Wednesday evening, and it came after a number of health woes for the legendary music star. The family statement announcing his death read: "It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. "We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis." The family message was preceded by a location stamp, that read: "Birmingham, England July 22, 2025" - revealing that Ozzy made it back home for one last time.

Rangers transfer 'target' Jamie Vardy's wife Rebekah says striker 'plays better' when she is involved in drama
Speculation is mounting that Rebekah Vardy's husband Jamie is tipped to join Rangers. Rebekah Vardy has claimed her footballer husband Jamie "plays better" on the pitch while she is involved in high profile drama. It comes amid high speculation that the 38-year-old Leicester City legend is eyeing up a transfer to Rangers FC. The Light Blues are said to be among the teams who are keen to offer Vardy a landmark deal following his Leicester City exit. Rebekah, who has been married to Jamie for eight years, is no stranger to controversy after her famous Wagatha Christie feud with Coleen Rooney. Rebekah appeared to reunite her feud with Coleen, married to football icon Wayne Rooney, when she appeared last year on I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! The mum of five lost the trial in 2022 and was handed an eye-watering legal bill of £1.4M, which is being paid out to Coleen following a court order. However, three years on, their war appears to be raging on as Rebekah told Vanity Fair in an interview just last week that she still believes the way she was treated throughout the trial was highly unfair. Vardy said: 'I didn't sell stories to The Sun newspaper and that really is the end of it" as she insisted that she 'got the raw end of that.' She added: "In fact, I think murderers and pedophiles have faced far less scrutiny than I did". Speaking about how her husband feels about the publicity surrounding her feud with Coleen, Rebekah claims he plays better when she is receiving bad press. She previously told the Mirror: "Everyone thinks Jamie is mad at me for speaking out, but that couldn't be further from the truth. He's encouraging me, saying, 'Give it to her, get the truth out there'. "He loves it that she's back getting headlines. The more stick he gets from the stands in football, the better he plays." It comes amid reports that Rangers FC's new owners are keen to sign Vardy following his exit from Leicester City which could be great news for Scottish football fans if Rebekah's theory about the positive correlation between her personal drama and Jamie's football performance is correct.
