Fuel tanker erupts in flames after crashing into Broward County bus on I-595, authorities say
A gasoline tanker caught fire Monday morning after sideswiping a parked transit bus and crashing into a median wall on Interstate 595, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash happened around 10 a.m. on the westbound lanes of I-595, just east of Southwest 136th Avenue. Authorities said the tanker sideswiped a disabled and unoccupied Broward County Transit bus that was stopped on the left shoulder, then veered into the median and struck the median wall. The vehicle continued traveling west for about a tenth of a mile before bursting into flames, police said. Davie Police and Fire Rescue responded to the scene and extinguished the fire. The driver of the tanker was transported to Broward Health Medical Center for treatment. His condition has not been released. Westbound traffic on I-595 was diverted to State Road 84 at the Hiatus Road exit as crews worked the scene. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

2 dead, 2 hurt in what Davie cops suspect was a street racing hit-and-run crash
Davie police are searching for suspected street-racing drivers who crashed into two motorcycles — killing two people and injuring two others — before leaving the scene over the weekend, the department said Monday. Witnesses called police around midnight Sunday to report three to four cars of unknown makes and models racing in the northbound lanes near 3400 South State Road 7, just south of I-595, said Davie police spokesman Officer Peter Patton. The witnesses say the cars struck two motorcycles with two people on each bike, Patton said. Two people died at the scene and the two others were taken to the hospital with what police said were 'non-life-threatening injuries.' As of Monday night, police have not named the victims pending notification of their next of kin. Additionally, police were still looking for the drivers of the racing cars. The department is asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to call Davie police at 954-693-8200 or CrimeStoppers at 954-493-8477.
