Trichy: New 6-Lane Cloverleaf Flyover Coming Up At Panjapur, Details Inside

(Representative Image)(Photo:X) Trichy is all set to get a brand-new cloverleaf-style flyover at Panjapur to help ease traffic jams on the busy Trichy-Madurai National Highway (NH). Tamil Nadu's Municipal Administration Minister, K N Nehru, shared the news during his visit to the city recently, as per TOI. The flyover, which will be 3.5 kilometres long and six lanes wide, will be built by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The design will be similar to the famous Kathipara flyover in Chennai. Land for the project has already been handed over by the district administration. What's Next? In addition to the flyover, work is already underway for a four-lane semi-ring road connecting Trichy to the Trichy-Karur National Highway. This will further help ease congestion around the city. NHAI officials confirmed that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) is being prepared for the Panjapur flyover. They are also exploring several design options, including the cloverleaf model. Updates on Road Over Bridges (RoBs) When asked about the progress of the Maris Road overbridge (RoB) near Fort Station and the second phase of the RoB at Trichy Railway Junction, Minister Nehru said the state government has completed its part of the work. Now, it is up to Southern Railway to finish the rest. Metro Rail for Trichy Still on the Table Trichy could also get a metro service in the future. The proposal is currently being discussed, and a survey is expected to begin soon. The minister also spoke about the possible expansion of Trichy Corporation by merging nearby village panchayats. Public objections are being invited before the final decision is made. Kathipara model flyover to come up on Trichy-Madurai NH: Nehru
Trichy: The state govt is working closely with the National Highways Authority of India ( NHAI ) to construct a cloverleaf type flyover on the Trichy-Madurai national highway (NH) to avoid traffic congestion at Panjapur where several new infrastructure including Tidel Park and a new wholesale market are proposed, municipal administration minister K N Nehru informed on Saturday. The minister was in Trichy to lay foundation stones for new projects and commission completed infrastructure in Trichy corporation limits to the tune of 70 crore. "The new flyover proposed at Panjapur will be 3.5km long and shall have six lanes. District administration has surveyed and handed over the land required. The flyover to be built by NHAI will be similar to the Kathipara flyover in Chennai. Simultaneously, work for a four lane semi-ring road between Trichy-Madurai NH and Trichy-Karur NH is progressing," Nehru said. NHAI's official sources acknowledged the development and added that a detailed project report (DPR) for the new flyover is progressing and all viable options including cloverleaf model are explored. Reacting to questions on the status of Maris RoB (Fort Station) and Trichy railway junction RoB (stage II) developments, the minister said that the state govt's scope of works have been completed in both projects, and only Southern Railway has to expedite its scope of work.
