Nat Sciver-Brunt out of T20I series vs India Women, to return for ODIs
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has confirmed that women's team captain Natalie Sciver-Brunt will miss the remaining two matches of the ongoing T20I series against India due to a groin Beaumont will step in as captain for the final two games, while Maia Bouchier has been called up to replace Sciver-Brunt in the squad. The ECB also confirmed that Sciver-Brunt is expected to be fit for the start of the ODI series, which begins on 16 known for her aggressive batting style, could offer England some much-needed firepower in the middle order. However, Sciver-Brunt's absence will be felt. The all-rounder had been in solid form, scoring 66 and 13 in the first two T20Is, and her presence with both bat and ball has been central to England's white-ball strategy. England currently trail 1-2 in the five-match series, having lost the first two games to a confident Indian side. Smriti Mandhana has been instrumental in India's strong start, providing consistent runs at the top of the order. The third T20I saw England bounce back with a much-needed win to keep the series the setback, stand-in captain Beaumont believes the team must remain calm and composed ahead of the crucial fourth match, which will be played in Manchester on Wednesday, 9 July. The final T20I is scheduled for Saturday, 12 July in Birmingham.'The worst thing we could do right now is panic,' Beaumont said, as quoted by ICC.'It's not the situation we wanted — we didn't want to be 2-0 down, and we didn't want our captain and best batter out injured. But we've got to deal with where we are now and respond positively.'We need to bring some calm and logic into the team environment. We absolutely believe we can come back and win this. Full credit to India, they've pushed us hard, but I believe we can respond, and I'll be doing everything I can to get the girls to do just that.'- EndsTrending Reel

WI vs AUS: Steve Smith shares update on finger injury before Grenada Test
Steve Smith said he hasn't felt any pain and has recovered well from the finger injury he sustained during the World Test Championship 2023-25 final against South Africa at Lord's. The veteran dislocated his finger while attempting a catch in the slips during the summit clash and was subsequently taken to the hospital for he didn't require surgery, Smith missed the opening Test against the West Indies, which Australia won by 159 runs at the Kensington Oval to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. However, the 36-year-old sounded confident about returning for the second Test, scheduled to begin on July 3 at the National Cricket Stadium in St George's, me, it'll just feel like training as normal, I think," Smith was quoted as saying by ICC."I don't really feel any pain or anything. (It's) just getting used to the splint on and the slight limited movement. It's not too bad, I've got a lot of movement there now, so that feels good. Hitting the ball felt completely fine.' Smith, however, might not field in the slip cordon given his recent injury. But he's unlikely to face issues while batting. "Fielding some balls in front of the wicket will probably be the strangest thing for me, I don't think I've ever done that in a Test match. Fielding at either probably mid-on or mid-off or fine leg, is a bit different to standing at the second or first slip."If Smith plays, Josh Inglis is likely to sit out after scoring only five and 12 in the opening Test. Smith has an exceptional Test record against the West Indies, having notched 872 runs at an average of 124.57 with three hundreds and as many fifties. - Ends

Shastri wants Sai Sudharsan to feature in India's Test tour to England
Mumbai [India], : Former Indian head coach and all-rounder Ravi Shastri called for the inclusion of young left-hander Sai Sudharsan in the Indian squad for the fast-approaching five-match Test series in England, saying that his left-handed batting and technique make him one of his top choices to feature in the highly-anticipated series. After the 3-1 series loss in Australia at the start of the year, which put paid to India's hopes of qualifying for the ICC World Test Championship Final, there were calls for the inclusion of fresh faces in the red-ball set up to reinvigorate the side ahead of the high-profile Test tour of England. Speaking with host Sanjana Ganesan on the latest episode of The ICC Review, Shastri threw his support behind Sudharsan following the 23-year-old's standout form in the ongoing IPL 2025. So far in nine matches, he has made 456 runs at an average of 50.66, a strike rate of 150, with five fifties and the best score of 82. Already capped in white-ball cricket, Sudharsan is yet to debut in Tests, but Shastri sees him as a future all-format player for India. So far, Sudharsan has played three ODIs, scoring 127 runs in three matches with two fifties. "I see this young man, Sai Sudharsan, for all formats of the game," Shastri told The ICC Review as quoted by ICC.. "He seems like a class player and my eyes would be on him certainly." Sudharsan brings valuable experience in English conditions, having turned out for Surrey in the County Championship in 2023 and 2024. In five matches, he scored 281 runs, including a century and a fifty. In 29 first-class matches overall, he has 1957 runs at an average of 39.93, including a maiden double-century in the format in the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy season for Tamil Nadu against Delhi in October 2024. "Being a left-hander in England, knowing English conditions, and just his technique, the way he plays, I think he will be top of the list for me from the outsiders wanting to get into this side," added Shastri.
