Umpire Kumar Dharmasena's Stunning Post On Siraj's Match-Winning Ball Stumps Internet

India pacer Mohammed Siraj was at his absolute best in the recently-concluded five-match Test series against England. The series ended in a 2-2 draw after Shubman Gill and co pulled off a thrilling six-run victory in the fifth Test at The Oval. On Day 5 of the fifth Test, England needed 35 runs more to win the match but had only four wickets in hand. Siraj and Prasidh Krishna brought India back into the game and bundled out England, when they were seven runs short. Gus Atkinson was at the strike while an injured Chris Woakes, who was batting with just one hand, was standing at non-striker's end, when England needed seven runs and had only one wicket left. On the last delivery of the previous over, Atkinson took a single to not let an injured Woakes take the strike. As Siraj came to bowl the next over, millions of hearts started beating. Atkinson was batting at 17 and had also hit a maximum. The situation was very tensed for India but what happened next, became the most memorable moment of the entire series. Siraj struck on the first delivery and knocked out Atkinson's off-stump, propelling India to a six-run victory. Sri Lankan umpire Kumar Dharmasena, who on-field during the match, took to Instagram and shared a picture of that moment. "So lucky to witness this ball from the best seat in the house," wrote Dharmasena in the caption. While the pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah played only three Tests owing to his workload management, it was Siraj who unleashed his 'Miyan Magic' when his beloved 'Jassi Bhai' needed some rest. Notably, Siraj was the only bowler from India and just the second in the series to play all the five Tests. Following his exceptional performance in The Oval Test, Siraj gained his career-best ratings of 674 points, in the ICC Men's Test Bowler Rankings on Wednesday. Player of the Match in the fifth Test, Siraj climbed 12 places to grab 15th spot in the latest ICC Men's Test Bowler Rankings. This is Siraj's highest ever position in the Test ranking, after churning out match-winning spells in the final Test against England. (With agency inputs)

However, India staged a stunning comeback, with Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna triggering a collapse to bowl England out for 367 and seal a thrilling six-run win. On Day 5, the older ball began to reverse swing noticeably, making scoring difficult for the English batters. Although India had the option to take the new ball after the 80th over, they strategically stuck with the old one, which continued to generate movement—a decision that ultimately proved decisive, as India drew the five-match Test series 2-2. West Indies quick Jayden Seales hails five-wicket haul his best yet in Tests

Barbados, June 26 (UNI) West Indies quick Jayden Seales believes his five-wicket haul against Australia on the opening day of the first Test in Barbados was his best effort yet. Seales and fellow pacer Shamar Joseph ripped through the highly-rated Australian batting order to dismiss the tourists for just 180, before the Aussies fought back to have the hosts reeling at 57/4 at stumps following an action-packed opening day to the ICC World Test Championship encounter at Kensington Oval. It was the third time in his short international career that Seales has registered a five-wicket haul and the fiery 23-year-old - who is 10th on the ICC Men's Test Bowler Rankings - said it was his favourite one yet. "This is probably my best five-wicket haul because it wasn't my best day and I didn't feel at my best any time throughout the day," Seales said. "There were times I felt good, but throughout spells I didn't feel like I was in full control of what I wanted to do or was executing or nailing my lengths and lines as consistently as I wanted, so this one is probably my most special one," he said. It was Joseph that did the early damage for the West Indies as he dismissed Sam Konstas and Cameron Green during a blistering opening spell to help reduce Australia to 22/3 and it took a 89-run partnership from Travis Head and Usman Khawaja to wrest the momentum back from the West Indies quicks. "I think that's what opened the game right up for us," Seales said of Joseph's early spell. "Blowing away the top-order is the most important thing in this cricket, and that made it a lot easier for us in the middle and in the back end of the innings, so he did a fantastic job for us today." Head, who top-scored for Australia with 59 and was the only batter on the day to surpass 50, was full of praise for the West Indies' bowling attack. "I thought Jayden bowled exceptionally well," Head said after play. "Alzarri (Joseph) is always there or thereabouts and Shamar again put the ball in the right areas and asked questions. "There were no surprises on what they were able to bring and get things out of the wicket, but vice versa. "We were able to do the same thing tonight (during the final session) and probably makes for an important couple of hours in the morning." UNI BM
