KUCHING: The Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) Young Engineers Section (YES) Sabah branch has once again proven its excellence after being named Outstanding IEM YES Branch 2025, its third consecutive win since 2023. The recognition was presented during the closing dinner of the IEM YES National Summit 2025 at Theatre Hotel, Kuching, which gathered some 300 young engineers from across the country. The Sabah delegation was led by IEM Sabah Vice Chairman Ir. Ts. Tan KJ, JP, along with YES Sabah Chairman Lee Tze Yei and Immediate Past Chairman Ag. Khairul Kamaludin. A total of 17 enthusiastic delegates from YES Sabah and four student representatives from Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) represented the state at the summit. Nell from the IEM UMS Student Section was selected as one of five vocalists to perform the newly-composed theme song 'We Are Engineers', showcasing Sabah's talent on the national stage. The event was also marked by a generous RM10,000 donation from Sarawak Infrastructure and Ports Development Deputy Minister Datuk Ir. Aidel Lariwoo, to IEM YES Sarawak – aimed at supporting youth engineering efforts in the state. Earlier, IEM YES Sarawak Chairman and summit Organising Chairman Ir. Cliff Jude Zehnder opened the dinner by highlighting the importance of youth-led innovation and collaboration in engineering. Also in attendance were IEM Malaysia President Prof. Ir. Dr. Jeffrey Chiang, IEM Sarawak Chairman Ir. Dr. Angeline Liew, and JKR Sarawak Director Ir. Ts. Gs. Br. PMr. Dr. Cassidy anak Morris, alongside key industry sponsors. The summit concluded with a symbolic handover to IEM Southern Region (Johor), which will host the IEM YES National Summit 2026.
