Meet JEE Advanced topper Satvat Jagwani, got 469 marks out of 540, went to IIT but left after few months due to..., now he is...

Every year, the National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts several competitive examinations such as JEE, CUET, and others so that aspirants can take admission into various undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs across top institutions in India. These exams serve as a gateway for students to pursue their desired courses in fields such as engineering, medical sciences, management, and humanities. There are a handful of aspirants who clear the exam in the first attempt and secure admission to their desired college, such as IIT. However, their passion doesn't stop there. And Satvat Jagwani, the IIT-JEE Advanced topper's success story is a remarkable example. Satvat Jagwani secured the All India Rank(AIR) 1 in the JEE Advanced 2015. After securing admission at the Indian Institute of Technology(IIT) Bombay, Satyam left it after two years due to….., read his motivational story here. Satvat Jagwani from Satna secured the All India Rank 1 by scoring an impressive 469 out of 504 marks. Satvat Jagwani, originating from Satna in Madhya Pradesh, attended Nalanda Public Senior Secondary School. Right from childhood, he nurtured a deep fascination for mathematics and physics, consistently performing exceptionally well in both disciplines. In Class 12, he chose physics, chemistry, and mathematics as his core subjects. Beyond his academic pursuits, Satvat had a keen interest in solving Sudoku puzzles, diving into books, and challenging himself with advanced mathematical problems. 'I have been passionate about mathematics since my childhood and I have developed my interest in programming by seeing its application in finding special kinds of numbers like prime numbers, perfect numbers, etc. Apart from math and CS, I am also very interested in the sciences, especially physics. But I have selected my major as Computer Science,' reads his LinkedIn bio. 'In computer science, I am specifically interested in machine learning and software development. For machine learning, I have taken some courses like Data Analysis & Interpretation at IIT Bombay and Introduction to Artificial Intelligence at MIT. For software development, I have taken a course, Software Systems Lab, and I therefore have experience of working in teams for weekly assignments,' the statement further reads. However, Satvat Jagwani, who secured the top rank in the IIT-JEE Advanced exam, surprised many with his unexpected decision to leave IIT Bombay. Well, in 2015, Satvat Jagwani initially took admission at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, where he completed 145 out of 268 credits toward a BTech in Computer Science and Engineering by 2017. But destiny had some other plans. After two years, Satvat decided to leave IIT Bombay. Jagwani took admission in Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computer Science and Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2017. In 2020, he took admission at the Master of Engineering (MEng) program in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT. Jagwani's decision to leave IIT Bombay was fueled by his aspiration to pursue higher education at the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). As per his LinkedIn profile, Jagwani is working as a Software Development Engineer at Cadence Design Systems, where he has been working full-time since November 2021, accumulating over 3 years of experience.

Meet IIT-JEE Advanced topper, who scored 334 marks out of 360, took admission in IIT Bombay but left after few months due to..., he is now.... The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), Civil Services Examination, and NEET are known to be some of the toughest exams in the country. Many students begin preparing for them as early as Class 10. Among those who cracked one of these with flying colors is Chitraang Murdia, who secured All India Rank 1 in JEE Advanced 2014. But what makes his journey unique is what he chose to do next. Chitraang's inspiring story, shared by Humans of India on Facebook, reveals that even after achieving the top rank in one of India's most competitive exams and getting into IIT Bombay, he decided to follow a different path. He initially joined the Computer Science program at IIT Bombay, like many top rankers do, but soon realized that his heart wasn't in it. Though he found computer science engaging, he felt a stronger pull toward physics. 'I was fascinated by computers, but physics felt like home to me. I wanted to explore research, especially in quantum physics,' he shared in the post. In the JEE Advanced 2014, Chitraang scored an impressive 334 out of 360 marks. Yet, it was his decision to leave behind a prestigious path to chase his true calling in physics that truly sets his story apart. After spending a year at IIT Bombay, Chitraang Murdia made a bold and unexpected decision—he left the institute to chase his real dream. He went on to secure admission at the world-renowned Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and that too with a scholarship. His choice surprised many. 'Everyone, including my friends, was shocked. They said I was too young to make such life-changing decisions. Some even told me I was throwing away a future where I could earn lakhs after graduating as an engineer from IIT,' Chitraang shared. 'But I chose to listen to my inner voice rather than follow the crowd.' Reflecting on his journey, he added, 'Getting into MIT with a scholarship was a huge moment for me. I've seen so many students who are passionate about physics and maths give up their dreams and follow the herd into fields like computer science or electrical engineering—mainly due to peer or family pressure. I hope my story inspires those students to follow their passion, especially in pure sciences.' As per his LinkedIn profile, Chitraang Murdia is currently working as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his Ph.D. at the University of California, Berkeley, in 2023, and holds a Bachelor's degree in Physics from MIT.
