Be clinical in diagnosis and surgery, not in practice: President to budding doctors
RANCHI: President Draupadi Murmu, during the first convocation of AIIMS-Deoghar, advised the budding doctors to be completely clinical in their diagnosis and surgery, but they should not be clinical in their behavior. President in her address, said that doctors are the living form of God on earth, and millions of people have expectations from them. The President arrived in Ranchi on Thursday afternoon as part of her two-day visit to Jharkhand, to attend the convocation programmes of AIIMS Deoghar and IIT Dhanbad. 'You should be completely clinical in diagnosis and surgery, but do not be clinical in practice,' said the President. Becoming a good doctor is a big deal, but becoming a good human being is an even bigger deal, she added.

4 ZP students from ‘Super 50' make it to IITs, 1 bags IIIT seat
Nashik: Four students from the Nashik zilla parishad (ZP) schools, who participated in the ZP's "Super 50" programme, have successfully secured admissions into the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). All four students received two years of fully sponsored training through this pilot project, which was launched in 2022 by ZP CEO Ashima Mittal. The "Super 50" programme began in the academic year 2022-23. It initially selected 50 meritorious students from scheduled caste (SC) and scheduled tribe (ST) categories who had exclusively attended ZP schools and belonged to economically weaker sections (EWS). One of the students also manged to get into IIIT Nagpur. These students were chosen based on an entrance examination. The programme has since expanded to include 110 students, with 55 receiving coaching for medical entrance exams and the other 55 for engineering entrance exams. Mittal, while talking to TOI, expressed immense pride in the students' achievements. 48 students from this IIT received salary packages worth Rs 6000000, not IIT Bombay, IIT Kanpur or IIT Kharagpur Landing a high-paying job is a dream for many students, and top institutes like IITs and IIMs often help make that dream come true during campus placements. Recently, students from IIT Dhanbad and NIT Jamshedpur have made headlines with impressive job offers. At IIT Dhanbad, 48 students received salary packages worth Rs. 60 lakh per year during the latest placement season. In a remarkable achievement, one student, Sourav Shakti from the Mineral and Metallurgy Engineering department, secured an annual package of Rs. 1.22 crore — the highest ever recorded at the institute, according to a report by Live Hindustan . A total of 1,656 students from various courses at IIT ISM Dhanbad registered for placements this year (2024–25 batch). Out of these, 1,025 students received job offers, and 985 students accepted them. The report further highlights that: 27 students received packages between Rs. 40 lakh and Rs. 50 lakh. 58 students received packages between Rs. 30 lakh and Rs. 40 lakh. 291 students were offered packages ranging from Rs. 6 lakh to Rs. 10 lakh annually. The average package offered during placements was around Rs. 17.69 lakh per year. Meanwhile, NIT Jamshedpur also saw an excellent placement season. Over 260 companies visited the campus, offering a total of 725 jobs across different branches. In NIT Jamshedpur: Three students received the highest offer of Rs. 82 lakh per year, each from different departments. The average salary package offered stood at Rs. 12.63 lakh per annum. The median package was recorded at Rs. 11 lakh per annum. The placement process for the 2024–25 batch is currently in its final stages. Both institutions have once again proved why they are counted among the top engineering colleges in India when it comes to securing high-paying jobs.
