IIT Madras to conduct free STEM training for college faculty; important dates, how to apply

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) Teaching Learning Centre (TLC) is set to conduct a residential training programme for college faculty in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biotechnology. The initiative is being organised under the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Programme (MMTTP) and will be offered free of cost to eligible participants. According to a notice issued by IIT Madras, the programme will include modules on interdisciplinary approaches, skill development, research and innovation, global competitiveness, and experiential learning. It is intended to support faculty in strengthening student performance, increasing enrolment in STEM disciplines, and contributing to diversity and inclusion in science education. The training will run over nine days for each subject, with each batch accommodating 50 participants. College faculty engaged in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the relevant disciplines are eligible to apply. Shortlisted candidates will be notified via email. Biotechnology: 22–30 August 2025 Chemistry: 7 to 17 October 2025 Physics (Batch 1): 11 to 19 November 2025 Physics (Batch 2): 20 to 28 November 2025 Mathematics: 15 to 24 December 2025 Applications can be submitted online through the registration link provided by IIT Madras TLC at As per the notification, sessions will be held in-person at the TLC Hall and the Central Library on the IIT Madras campus. The course content will cover both fundamental and advanced topics in the respective fields, along with practical laboratory sessions and exposure to current research. IIT Madras TLC has partnered with BodhBridge Education to deliver the programme, which is open to faculty from colleges across India. The training will incorporate innovative teaching methodologies and support the development of inquiry-based STEM curricula in line with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
