100 Investment Meet projects have reached work stage: Minister P Rajeeve

Kochi, Aug 4 (UNI) A total of 100 projects, out of 429 yielded by Invest Kerala Global Summit (IKGS) held in February, are under way in different parts of the state, demonstrating the resounding success of the initiative, Minister for Industries, Law and Coir P Rajeeve said today. The Minister was addressing the Investors' Conclave convened here to ascertain the status of the proposals that came up at IKGS. Over 200 investors turned up for the meet. 'By the end of August, the number of the projects reaching the implementation stage will cross 100. This means 21 percent of realisation so far. This must be the biggest strike rate of any investment meet held in the country. We are trying to raise this to 50 percent soon,' the Minister said. Asking investors to come out with their views, suggestions and grievances, he said this conclave was meant to hear directly from the investors whether they are facing any hurdle in going ahead with their projects, so that the government could step in to address them. When as many as 20 investors pointed out some of the issues faced by them, the Minister assured that each of these issues would be addressed without any delay. The Minister said, if necessary, ministerial level meetings will be held to address issues involving different departments. He also made calls with the field officials to ascertain the status of some of the issues that came up at the meet from the dias itself. The investors present expressed satisfaction at the cooperation from officials of the industries department agencies like KSIDC, KINFRA and Directorate of Industries. Kerala to revise 31 rules to attract more investment

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has decided to amend 31 different rules to make the state more-investment friendly. The amendments will help the state realise the investment proposals received at the Invest Kerala Global Summit (IKGS). The meeting also discussed the formation of a task force under the local self-government department for the speedy implementation of proposals. The revision or amendments are proposed to the rules related to local self-government institutions, departments of revenue, power, environment, labour, agriculture and higher education, said an official release. Relaxations will be made in the rule pertaining to road width requirement prescribed in the Kerala Building Rules, 2019. The maximum area prescribed for commercial buildings in category-II panchayats will be enhanced. Changes will be made in the documents required while applying for building permits on leased lands. Guidelines to regularise constructions made under the Kerala MSME Facilitation Act 2019 will be revised. Parking guidelines for resorts and hotels in the tourism and hospitality sector will also be revised. For this, conditions for assessing building area will be changed. The meeting decided to expedite the unique thandaper (title deed or ownership document) initiative to ensure transparent and efficient land utilisation. Applications for land conversion for project proposals received at the IKGS will be prioritised. A circular will be issued to define the powers of agricultural officers in land category change.

Four projects for which expression of interests (EOIs) have been received at the Invest Kerala Global Summit (IKGS) in Kochi this February commenced in April. The projects have a total outlay of ₹1,211 crore. Meanwhile, foundation stone will be laid this month for eight projects coming up at an investment of ₹2,675 crore. The four projects have the potential to generate 3,050 jobs. As many as 8,800 jobs will be created by the eight projects. Disclosing this at a press conference here on Wednesday, Minister for Industries P. Rajeeve said this affirmed Kerala's standing as a premier investment destination with increased investor trust in the government. He said another five projects, with an outlay of over ₹1,000 crore and the potential to generate 2,400 jobs, were slated to begin in June. 'By combining transparent digital tools, decentralised execution, and policy reform, Kerala is setting a new benchmark for investment promotion and project implementation in the country,' he said. Among the major proposals that came up at the IKGS, the Genome Valley at Life Sciences Park with an investment of ₹3,800 crore in Thiruvananthapuram will commence construction shortly while Unity Mall in Thiruvananthapuram will be inaugurated in November, the Minister said. A dedicated advisory group, chaired by the Minister, has been formed for monitoring project implementation, coordinating across departments and resolving issues. A policy reform meeting chaired by the Chief Minister is scheduled for June. The meeting will address the procedural and policy bottlenecks that affect investment implementation and focus on improving the overall ease of doing business. A portal, has been launched to create a database of land available in the State for industrial purposes, the Minister said. The portal will function like a matchmaking website where those who have land available for industrial purposes can list information, Mr. Rajeeve said. Another portal, developed by the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation, will provide investors and departments updates and information about each proposal's implementation status. It also features a monthly progress report to ensure transparency and stakeholder accountability. Around 450 EOIs have been received at the IKGS, for which over 370 project-level meetings have been conducted so far, and updated status reports and photographs have been uploaded on the dashboard of the IKGS portal.

Invest Kerala Summit: Works on projects worth Rs 4,410 cr to begin in May

Kerala Industries Minister P Rajeev on Saturday said works on 13 projects with a total investment of Rs 4,410 crore through the Invest Kerala Global Summit (IKGS 2025) will commence in May. Noting that these projects were submitted through Expressions of Interest (EoIs) at the IKGS held in February, Rajeev, who also holds Law and Coir portfolios, added in April alone, four projects worth Rs 1670 crore have started. Speaking after launching the web portals--- and he said: "From February to April, 76 projects worth Rs 1,385 crore as part of the reinvestment in ongoing and scaling up of projects related to IKGS are underway." The websites are launched for following up on the EoIs received during IKGS and creating a database of land parcels available in the state for industrial purposes, respectively. IKGS 2025 had received EoIs worth Rs 1.96 lakh crore,according to an official release. The Minister informed that a monthly progress report of the investment proposals that came up at IKGS will be published on the web portal, which will also have real time status updates and other details relating to the follow-up of EoIs. Land owners can upload on the website the details of the land which can be used for industrial purposes, Rajeev said. Investors can access the information through the portal and get in touch directly with the owners and seek acquisition of suitable land.
