Travis Kelce overjoyed Taylor Swift's music is ‘finally' under her ownership

Travis Kelce is overjoyed Taylor Swift's music is 'finally' under her ownership. The NFL star, 35, who has been dating the singer for two years, made the remark while expressing admiration for Taylor's recent landmark $360 million deal she made to reclaim the rights to her original master recordings, describing the moment as a long-overdue victory. He said on the new episode of his 'New Heights' podcast, which he co-hosts with his brother Jason Kelce, 36: 'Just bought all her music back so it's finally hers, man. 'I appreciate that, dog. Love you big dog.' The Kansas City Chiefs tight end and his brother were joined by former NBA player Shaquille O'Neal, 53, on the show – who played Taylor's 2012 hit 'I Knew You Were Trouble' during the broadcast. Referring to himself as a Swiftie, Shaquille mouthed along to the lyrics, prompting the Kelce brothers to nod along in appreciation. 'That's my favourite song in the world, brother,' Shaquille said in a preview clip of the episode, drawing applause from both Travis and Jason. Travis' support comes in the wake of Taylor's announcement that she had successfully regained ownership of the masters for her first six studio albums. The 14-time Grammy winner, also 35, shared the news via a message posted to her official website. 'I'm trying to gather my thoughts into something coherent, but right now my mind is just a slideshow,' she wrote. Taylor added: 'A flashback sequence of all the time I daydreamed about, wished for, and pined away for a chance to get to tell this news. 'I almost stopped thinking it could ever happen, after 20 years of having the carrot dangled and then yanked away. But that's all in the past now. I've been bursting into tears of joy at random intervals ever since I found that this is really happening. I really get to say those words. All of the music I've ever made … now belongs… to me.' The singer specified the rights she now owns include her music videos, concert films, unreleased tracks, album art and photography. She also referred to the collection as encompassing 'the memories, the magic, the madness, every single era, (her) entire life's work'. In 2019, music executive Scooter Braun acquired the masters of Taylor's early discography — 'Taylor Swift', 'Fearless', 'Speak Now', 'Red', '1989' and 'Reputation' — for $300 million, a move the artist publicly criticised, claiming she was not given the opportunity to purchase them herself. The rights were later sold to the investment firm Shamrock Capital. Swift began re-recording the albums under her own ownership after signing a deal with Universal Music Group and Republic Records in 2018 before doing her new ownership deal.

Travis Kelce praises Taylor Swift's masters triumph

Travis Kelce is super happy that his girlfriend Taylor Swift has finally gained control of her master recordings. On the latest episode of his "New Heights" podcast, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end and his brother, retired Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, welcomed NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal as a guest. At the end of his appearance, O'Neal grabbed his phone and started playing Swift's hit "I Knew You Were Trouble," lip-synching along to the lyrics. "That's my favorite song in the world, brother, I love it!" O'Neal laughed. Travis Kelce replied, "Shoutout to Tay-Tay! Just got that song back, too. Just bought all her music back, so it's finally hers too, man. I appreciate that!" "I Knew You Were Trouble" is from Swift's 2012 album "Red" and is one of the six albums whose master recordings she recently re-acquired from their previous owners, Shamrock Capital. Elsewhere in the podcast episode, the Kelce brothers discussed O'Neal's side hustle as a DJ, with Travis Kelce saying, "You gotta get me [in] the DJ booth, man. Teach me your ways." O'Neal said he would, adding, "You know what's crazy? You opening up for your girlfriend. Bro, you'll be a f---ing star! Ten minutes, hyping up the crowd? Oh my God!" "You know I'm a hype man," Travis Kelce agreed. "I'd get 'em rockin' in there. Have the Swifties bouncing off the walls before Tay gets out there!" O'Neal also told Travis Kelce that Jason Kelce had arranged for him to shake Swift's hand at the 2024 Super Bowl, which Kansas City won. "That was the Super Bowl I like to remember," Travis Kelce joked, an apparent reference to his team's Super Bowl LIX loss to the Eagles earlier this year. Swift announced that she had purchased her master recordings last week in a powerful letter shared on her official website. "All of the music I've ever made... now belongs... to me," she wrote at the time. "And all my music videos. All the concert films. The album art and photography. The unreleased songs. The memories. The magic. The madness. Every single era. My entire life's work."

Travis Kelce Breaks Silence on Taylor Swift Regaining Masters

On May 30, Taylor Swift announced she regained ownership of her master recordings from Shamrock Capital, the private equity firm that purchased them from Scooter Braun's Ithaca Holdings in late 2020. In her announcement the billionaire musician revealed she wasn't sure if this moment would ever become reality. 'All the times I was this close, reaching out for it, only for it to fall through. I almost stopped thinking it could ever happen after 20 years of having the carrot dangled and then yanked away," she said in a letter on her website. "But that's all in the past now… I really get to say these words: All of the music I've ever made… now belongs to me. All of my music videos. All the concert films. The album art and photography. The unreleased songs. The memories. The magic. The madness. Every single era. My entire life's work.' Just a few days after the announcement Swift's boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce, broke his silence on the big move. Kelce's New Heights podcast with brother Jason Kelce welcomed former NBA superstar Shaquille O'Neal, who ended his visit by playing Swift's 'I Knew You Were Trouble." In the clip, O'Neal mouths the lyrics, 'Once upon a time/ A few mistakes ago/ I was in your sights/ You got me alone," getting the Kelce brothers fired up. 'That's my favorite song in the world brotha,' the Hall of Famer said. 'I love it.' Kelce applauded the shoutout from O'Neal 'Shout out to Tay Tay,' he said in his first public comments on the matter. 'Just got that song back, too. Just bought all her music back. So it's finally hers too man. I appreciate that dog." Swift reportedly paid close to what Shamrock Capital paid for the recordings - around $360 Kelce Breaks Silence on Taylor Swift Regaining Masters first appeared on Men's Journal on Jun 4, 2025

Travis Kelce Couldn't Hide His Joy While Discussing Taylor Swift Buying Her Music

Taylor Swift now owns all her music, and her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, couldn't stop smiling while talking about it on his podcast, New Heights. Today's episode marked the first time Kelce publicly discussed the news that Swift had purchased the masters of her first six albums. He responded in the most supportive boyfriend way. His guest, Shaquille O'Neal, said his favorite song was Swift's Red track 'I Knew You Were Trouble' and played it. Kelce danced along and lip-synced to it, saying, 'Shout-out to Tay Tay. Just got that song back too, just bought all her music back, so it's finally hers too. Man, I appreciate that.' His joy was infectious in the clip: On Friday, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end liked Swift's Instagram announcing the milestone. He missed her celebration in New York City over the weekend because he had a charity event in Kansas City, Missouri. But on his latest podcast episode, he made it clear he's cheering her on in his own way. This is far from Kelce's first time gushing about Swift. Back in November 2023, Kelce marveled over Swift's talent in an interview with WSJ magazine, his first big one since they started dating that summer. He called her a 'genius,' saying, 'I've never been a man of words. Being around her, seeing how smart Taylor is, has been fucking mind-blowing. I'm learning every day.' Swift announced she bought her masters from Shamrock Capital on Friday. 'I've been bursting into tears of joy at random intervals ever since I found out that this is really happening,' she wrote in a letter to fans. 'I really get to say these words: All of the music I've ever made…now belongs…to me. And all my music videos. All the concert films. The album art and photography. The unreleased songs. The memories. The magic. The madness. Every single era. My entire life's work. 'To say this is my greatest dream come true is actually being pretty reserved about it,' she added. 'To my fans, you know how important this has been to me—so much so that I meticulously re-recorded and released four of my albums, calling them Taylor's Version. The passionate support you showed those albums and the success story you turned The Eras Tour into is why I was able to buy back my music. I can't thank you enough for helping to reunite me with this art that I have dedicated my life to, but have never owned until now.'
