In all honesty

American R&B and soul singer Kali Uchis is set to drop her fifth album titled Sincerely, tomorrow. In an interview, Kali revealed that the upcoming project consisting of 14 tracks will be her most 'existential and honest work', stemming from a life-altering event, details of which she she did not share. 'The album is about the complexities of life and finding ways to find joy in life despite the world. Finding ways to appreciate every moment and not take life for granted. Treat every day special,' she said. 'It's definitely the most beautiful body of work to me, and it's going to be, for me, the most meaningful and impactful,' she added. The artist started teasing the album earlier this year through 'Sincerely, mailboxes' in select cities where fans were able to send letters to the artist directly, and had a chance to unlock a box that contained unreleased music from the album. The second single from the album, titled ILYSMIH (abbreviation for I Love You So Much It Hurts), was teased with a snippet in a USB drive collected by a fan who got to unlock one of the boxes. According to Kali, the song was inspired by her profound experience of motherhood and the immeasurable love she has for her son, whom she gave birth to last year. Another fan also got to receive a drive featuring a snippet of the yet to be released track, All I Can Say. The songwriter created a special ILYSMatcha latte that fans were able to order for a limited time at a coffee shop in Los Angeles, California, where she showed up and made the drinks alongside the shop's employees. Born Karly Marina Loaiza, the Colombian-American artist embarked on her career in 2012 and earned recognition in 2015 for her debut extended play Por Vida ('for life' in Spanish).

Kali Uchis Says ‘ILYSMIH' On New Single

Kali Uchis Kali Uchis is setting the stage for her next studio album due out in just a few weeks. Sincerely marks her third English album and fifth overall and is shaping up to be Uchis' most personal record to date after experiencing the birth of her first child and the death of her mother in the past year. Last month, she released 'Sunshine & Rain…' as the lead single from the project, complete with a sound bite from her late mother honoring her memory. 'ILYSMIH" ("I Love You So Much It Hurts"), the second taste of the new LP, is out now and sees the Colombian-American crooner continuing to share her deepest emotions with the world. On the new single, Uchis serenades her beloved one-year-old and opens up about how he's changed her life since she and partner Don Toliver welcomed their bundle of joy last year. 'I love my baby, nothing else compares / It's something about those brown eyes that leaves me full of tears, crying / All the world is crazy, but you're here / My baby made me realize that nothing else even matters,' she sings honestly. "For oncе in my life, I'm not alone anymore / See, my hеart had a dream to be a part of a family / It took some time but this moment / Was worth all the pain.' The Grammy-winning star alluded to this desire to have her own loving household in an Instagram video last month announcing Sincerely's release. 'I dream of a home that even time will lie down and be still for; a place where everything works out the way it should,' she said. Sincerely follows Uchis' Spanish dance-pop album Orquídeas from last year and her 2023 English album Red Moon in Venus. The new album is set for release May 9.
