Road closures continue for IMMERSE 2025 festival in downtown Orlando
A major event this weekend is impacting traffic in downtown Orlando. Orange Avenue is closed between the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts and Orlando City Hall. The closure is for a large weekend festival called 'IMMERSE.' The multi-day event begins Friday and runs through the weekend. The interactive festival will cover several city blocks with will require several road closures in downtown Orlando. The closures will be along South Orange Avenue, West Church Street, and East Pine Street. City officials suggest using the pick-up and drop-off area on Hughey Avenue to avoid parking. IMMERSE Festival to cause road closures in Downtown Orlando
The IMMERSE festival, which will feature creative encounters and live performances from Blue Man Group and Cirque du Soleil, will cause road closures in Downtown Orlando. The festival will take place from Feb. 21-Feb. 23, 2025 and the city of Orlando is preparing the Downtown Area with road closures, barriers, and emergency routes. The several-block festival will have guides and signs from Orange Ave & Anderson St to Orange Ave & Central Blvd. Attendees are encouraged to use the Sunrail or e-bikes and e-scooters to traverse traffic in the area. Legoland Florida to lay off hundreds of workers
This decision to sever employment with 234 employees shocked Legoland Florida park enthusiasts and their employees. The layoffs can potentially initiate major shifts in park operations moving forward. A few regular park attendees and pass holders have taken to social media to express their opinions on the sudden change. Read: IMMERSE will be returning to downtown in February for an experience you will want to see According to a notice sent to the state by Legoland Florida, layoffs will impact approximately 75% of the entertainment staff between March 25 and April 7. Julie Estrada, Legoland's spokesperson, can be quoted as saying, 'The decision to reduce the size of some of our teams was undoubtedly difficult, but these changes will allow the resort to operate more flexibly and responsively in a competitive market.' The Legoland water skiing show performed on Lake Eloise was quietly retired at the end of 2024. This decision is predicted to be a foreshadowing one that has led to the cuts this year.
