Honor 400 Pro in for review
Today, we have the new Honor 400 Pro, fresh off its announcement. In a phone world that's constantly moving towards flat and squared-off phones (thanks, Apple!), this curvy handset comes to serve those that still appreciate the improved fit inside your palm. Both the front and back panels of the Honor 400 Pro are rounded at the edges, and the corners are rounded. You either love curved phones or you hate them, we've found, even here at GSMArena opinions are split. But it's not all about the shape. Honor's numerical series has always been design-focused (similarly to Oppo's Reno series). The Honor 400 Pro is a pretty phone and feels nice in the hand - we'd even use this one case-free (gasp!). The Honor 400 Pro is also now IP68 and IP69 rated for the highest water and dust protection. The unboxing is nothing special - you get the phone in a box, plus a USB cable for €800. The phone supports potent 100W charging, but you'd need to buy Honor's pricey charger separately. The Honor 400 Pro is easy to tell apart from the vanilla Honor 400. The non-Pro has flat sides all around, one less camera on the back (no 3x zoom), and is lacking the depth sensor upfront. While on the inside, the Pro has a more potent SoC - SD 8 Gen 3 vs SD 7 Gen 3, and more RAM - 16 GB vs 8 GB. The Honor 400 Pro next to the Honor 400 Honor made some changes to the cameras compared to the 200 Pro - the main unit has a 200 MP sensor, while the zoom is slightly longer at 3x (vs 2.5x). The ultrawide is seemingly the same 12 MP f/2.2 unit, as is the 50 MP f/2.1 selfie shooter. Finally, the Honor 400 series has a neat little feature called Photo to Video, driven by Google's Veo 2art video generation model, based on Google Cloud's Vertex AI. It can create a 5-second video from a photo you give it. It takes about a minute to complete the video generation, and there's no sound, but the results are highly impressive.

Xiaomi 15 Is Compact Flagship Done Almost Right
Last Updated: Xiaomi 15 is the new compact flagship phone in the market that will have plenty of competition in the next few months. Xiaomi is facing a change in guard, which means the brand is now pushing beyond the comfort zone of being affordable, and aiming for the sky. The Xiaomi series is a clear evidence of this path with the Ultra model showing its ability to match up with the best. The Xiaomi 15 is another iteration in its strategy that looks to entice people with its quality, and assurance of giving value. There is going to be a lot of clamour for compact flagship phones this year, and Xiaomi has a definite leg up over its rivals in this regard. The Xiaomi 15 has Leica-powered cameras, flagship battery and a fast charging battery too but does the whole package give you that premiumness that the price tag commands. We went looking for these answers over the last few weeks. The Year Of Compact? Xiaomi 15 is a breath of fresh air in terms of its size, dimensions and such a relief to hold in the hand and sometimes even forget you have a phone in the pocket. The 6.36-inch display is the perfect form factor that more brands should adopt and 2025 could show us that happening widely. advetisement Brands have stressed on the need to use big-screen phones, because you watch movies and even read pieces. But this compact size slightly over 6-inch is the sweet spot to follow. Besides that, the Xiaomi 15 gets 8.5mm thickness and weighs around 192 grams which means it is not compact and not bulky either. The design balances out nicely and you don't feel the top being heavy by any means. The aluminium frame along with a glass body with IP68 rating gives you the ideal durability points that check most boxes. So, yeah, the compact flagships are here and welcome more brands to bring them to the market. The Other Flagship Pluses We've decided to combine the display quality and performance in the same segment because that's the least you expect from a phone that claims to be a flagship. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and you are getting the single 12GB + 512GB variant in the country. The SoC has shown its class, levels and what it can deliver with the right tuning and the Xiaomi 15 benefits from its grade to good effect. You can enjoy gaming albeit with some noticeable heating, one that dissipates quickly to ease the concerns. Having said that, you get a feeling the chipset has been throttled to give a balanced performance. The 6.36-inch AMOLED display with 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, as well as Dolby Vision and HDR10+ gives it the right viewing package. The 3200 nits peak brightness could have been slightly higher as readability in harsh sunlight can be a challenge. The screen itself delivers as highlighted in the specs and it performs well to your rough usage which involves keeping the phone with keys and coins in the pocket or a bag. That's where you have Xiaomi's Shield Glass showing its worth. The colours on the panel are bright, crisp and you will enjoy watching videos or shows for hours without feeling the weight of such long viewing. You get the HyperOS 2.0 version based on Android 15 with the Xiaomi 15 and the brand is promising 4 years of OS upgrades along with 6 years of security patches for the device. Xiaomi's update cycle has been sketchy over the years but we are hoping the flagships get better support from the company. Advertisement The OS is lighter than the MIUI version but you still have to disable a few apps to stop them from throwing push alerts and ad suggestions for apps. Xiaomi also has a slew of AI features baked into the OS which we first got to try out on the 15 Ultra model this year and they work well too. Leica, Once Again Xiaomi 15 gets a triple camera setup using the Leica-powered lenses. The 50MP primary and a 50MP telephoto lens combined with the 50MP ultra-wide angle lens have shown their quality over the last few years and the new model is no different. The main sensor captures clear and crisp images with colour tones that are linked to the Leica ecosystem. The overall details are what you expect from a flagship-grade setup and the Xiaomi 15 delivers on most fronts. The 50MP primary and the telephoto sensors are able to shoot quality photos in both day and low light conditions. The portraits with the telephoto come out with good levels of detail and the skin textures are retained to give the natural effect. advetisement Out of the three, the ultra-wide lens continues to miss out on autofocus which makes it the less appealing in the system. It does well in normal lighting with the details clear but still expected better results, especially when it comes to low light imaging. The 32MP front shooter does better than the earlier models but the skin tones are still not clearly defined and natural even in the regular mode. Small But Not Weak Xiaomi 15 may be a compact phone but with its 5,240mAh battery it manages to last for well over a day on a single charge. We were slightly worried about its performance levels, especially with the noticeable warming up of the device but over a couple of weeks with the device we mostly got around 12-14 hours of standby time, after which we needed to charge it up using the 90W bundled charger. top videos View All These are definitely not the best figures in the market, especially the 20 hour PCMark battery score, but good enough for most people, who want to charge their phone once and use it the whole day and most parts of the night. The 90W charger takes around 50 minutes to go from 5 percent to 100 percent which works for most people. Xiaomi 15 is a compact phone with serious performance levels, a reliable and quality Leica camera system packed into a package with HyperOS getting between each iteration and a battery life that will work for most people out there. There are some throttling issues which result in warming up of the device but nothing that can be termed as a deal breaker. All-round fun camera gets even better
It is no mean feat to make a camera that can capture a 360-degree views, so it's not unsurprising it has taken a while to get things right. Regular readers will remember I was impressed with the Insta360 X4 when I road-tested it earlier this year but issues like poor low-light performance, fragile lenses, and time-consuming editing still left some users frustrated. One of the main problems is 360-degree cameras use two ultra wide-angle lenses to capture every angle at the same time, and processing all that data needs a serious amount of computing power. Insta360 has addressed those issues with the new X5, which has just been released. A company spokesperson says the X5's new triple AI chip system works like a relay race and boosts the overall performance by 14 per cent. 'Two pro imaging chips handle the first stage of image processing, reducing noise and boosting brightness right from the source. Then, a dedicated 5nm AI chip takes over, refining that data with deep-learning algorithms to enhance texture, detail, and colour. Each chip has a specialised job, and together, they create visuals that are brighter, clearer, and more lifelike — especially in the dark,' the spokesperson says. Two new 1/1.28-inch sensors and a triple AI chip deliver a significant improvement in image quality with better clarity and detail — particularly when shooting in low light. A new InstaFrame mode, which simultaneously captures 360-degree and flat video, offers users a ready-to-share flat video with a choice of fixed perspectives or an auto-follow option that keeps you in the frame while also recording a 360-degree video. The innovative Active HDR Video feature has been upgraded so it can capture better details and colours in both highlights and shadows at 5.7K at 60fps. Insta360 has designed a new lens replacement kit that allows users to easily replace a damaged lens. It's still highly recommended to attach a lens guard (like a UV filter which many of us fit to our regular camera lenses) — but now, if the worst happens, they are easily replaced with the new lens kit. A new built-in wind guard with a multi-layered wind mesh and an upgraded algorithm combine to offer clearer audio in high-wind situations — and the X5 has improved IP68 waterproofing that allows users to take it down to 15m without a dive housing. The narrow rectangular camera is unlike any other camera in the action camera category in both looks and ability. It's about the size of a Mars bar with two dome-like lenses on either side that enable it to capture amazing 360-degree vision via the twin lenses and sensors. It has a bright touchscreen on one side with intuitive access to tap and change settings and shooting modes. The X5 has a six-axis gyroscope with horizon lock for smooth and steady shots and a new twist-to-shoot feature that enables shooting by twisting the selfie stick back and forth. You can also activate the shooting mode by voice, gesture, or a wireless remote. The camera can, like other action cameras, be attached to just about anything and capture high-quality stills and video of your daring deeds. The X5 is ideal for solo travellers and creators because you can shoot and choose your angles later. The invisible selfie stick effect enables you to capture otherwise impossible third-person or drone-like shots. The new InstaFrame mode makes it all much easier to capture and share your vision than ever before. Simply hit record and the X5 produces two files. The first is an instantly shareable flat video with no editing or reframing needed. You have the choice of a fixed view that follows a constant direction, or a selfie view that keeps you in frame throughout. And because the X5 captures 360-degree vision at the same time, there is no wondering 'did I frame that right?' or fears of missing an epic moment. The Insta360 app is a sophisticated yet user-friendly app for editing your 360-degree content, and to coincide with the X5's launch, it has undergone a revamp with a sleeker user interface and new tools that make editing easier than ever. A one-tap dewarp button removes fish-eye distortion for natural-looking footage, and there's a new option for one-tap export with no editing or reframing. This is in addition to existing features such as Quick Edit and AI Edit for semi-automatic and automatic editing, and Shot Lab with 40-plus AI templates, as well as a full manual editing suite. More advanced editing can be done with Insta360 Studio which, like the mobile app, is free. The X5 is compatible with Insta360+, a cloud service offering auto file backup, instant sharing of 360-degree footage, cloud editing, and export. When I tested the Insta360 X4 I said I loved it, and the X5 is even better! It's a fun camera to use and it allows you to capture some amazing vision. The unusual points of view and special effects you can capture with it are only limited by your imagination. It is easy to use, and the 360-degree capture 'shoot first and frame later' means you don't miss a thing. It feels well made and able to stand up to the rigours expected of an action camera — especially now you can change the lenses if they get damaged. It is definitely a cool and fun addition to any camera tool kit. In 360-degree mode, the X5 can capture up to 8K video at 30/25 and 24fps, and in single-lens mode, up to 4K at 60/50/30 and 24fps. The 2400mAh battery supports up to 185 minutes of recording in 5.7K when using the power-saving endurance mode. It can fast-charge from 0-80 per cent in just 20 minutes. You can find out more about the full list of specs at . The X5 camera with USB-C charging cable, a protective pouch and lens cloth costs $930. The Essentials Bundle, which includes an extra battery, a utility fast-charge case, 114cm invisible selfie stick, standard lens guards, lens cap, and carry case, costs $1110. There are several other bundles with mounts and accessories that are specifically designed for various activities. More Realme GT 7T renders leak showing all colors
Yesterday a leak brought us specs for the upcoming Realme GT 7T, and then a retailer listing in Europe shed more light on the pricing we should expect. Today, a new leak brings us more renders depicting the phone in all three colors - blue, black, and yellow. The leak comes with yet another confirmation of the phone's specs, so let's recap them. The GT 7T has a 6.8-inch AMOLED screen with 1280x2800 resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate, a 50 MP main camera with OIS and f/1.8 aperture, an 8 MP ultrawide with f/2.2 aperture, and a 32 MP selfie camera with f/2.4 aperture. Realme GT 7T leaked renders It's powered by MediaTek's Dimensity 8400 Max SoC, and has a 7,000 mAh battery with support for 120W wired charging. It will run Android 15 when it launches, with Realme UI 6.0 on top. It measures 162.42 x 75.97 x 8.88 mm and weighs 205g. The measurements are different from the ones in the previous leak, which gave us 8.25 mm thinness and a 202g weight, but that may just be down to a difference in material used for the back case between the colorways.
