KUCHING (Aug 13): The Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) Sarawak Branch futsal team once again proved their supremacy on the court by successfully defending their champion title in the Inter-Professional Games (IPG) 2025 futsal competition held at Arena Sukan here last Saturday. A press release from IEM Sarawak said the team, led by captain Razmi Mohammad Omar with Ir Justin Yii Huong Swee as the overall organising captain, displayed skill, teamwork and determination throughout the tournament. IEM opened their campaign with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Pertubuhan Arkitek Malaysia (PAM) before bouncing back in style to win all their remaining five matches. Their performance sealed the top spot, with PAM finishing second and the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) in third place. Among those present to cheer the team on were IEM Sarawak chairwoman Ir Dr Angelia Liew, IEM Young Engineers Section (YES) director of student affairs Dr Tay Fei Siang and overall IPG 2025 chairperson Sr Laura Yiin. The IPG serves as a platform for professionals from various fields to come together, fostering camaraderie, teamwork and mutual respect while strengthening inter-professional relationships through friendly competition. Upcoming events in the IPG 2025 calendar include golf on Aug 17, bowling on Aug 24, and badminton from Sept 20–21.
