Highest individual score in IPL final: List of top 5 batters who outperformed opposition in summit clashes; full details

The Indian Premier League is headed to an exciting finish on June 3 as the cash-rich T20 league will crown its latest and new champion at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Fourth-time finalists Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will take on the Punjab Kings (PBKS), who are playing in their second-ever final, in Tuesday's summit clash. T20 cricket is heavily skewed in favour of the batsman, and some of the most iconic names in the IPL have been run machines. So, ahead of Tuesday's IPL 2025 final, we turn the clock back and revisit the top 5 batting performances in the history of the league. The veteran Australian opener was the hero for CSK as they clinched their third IPL title at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium in the 2018 final. Chasing 179 for the win, the then 36-year-old powered the Chennai side to an emphatic victory with an unbeaten ton in just 57 balls as they got past the finishing line with 9 balls to spare. Another century in this list, but this time in a losing cause, the diminutive Indian wicketkeeping batter could not help Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) to their maiden IPL title in the 2014 final at Bengaluru's M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Saha's blistering ton helped KXIP to a competitive 199/4 in the first innings, but KKR's Manish Pandey responded with a 50-ball 94 to help the Kolkata franchise to their second IPL title. India's newest Test talent has been on the rise in the IPL for the last couple of seasons, and the Tamil Nadu southpaw scored a strokeful 96 against the Chennai Super Kings in the 2023 summit clash. Missing a well-deserved ton by a whisker, Sudharsan helped GT score a mammoth 214/4 in the first innings in front of their home fans in Ahmedabad. Unfortunately, CSK won their fifth title as Ravindra Jadeja knocked off 10 runs of the last two balls, with a six and a four, to seal a thrilling final win that will be hard to replicate any time soon. Sudharsan was brilliant with the bat, but the night belonged to CSK. The local lad put on an elegant display in front of his hometown fans as Vijay's 95 helped CSK clinch consecutive titles in the IPL 2011 final. Vijay, along with Michael Hussey (63 of 45), put on a mammoth opening stand of 159 and helped hosts CSK put on 205/5 on the board at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. RCB fell short by 59 runs as Vijay was crowned the Man of the Match for his heroic performance in front of CSK's adoring fans. The stylish right-hander responded to Saha's blistering ton with a forceful innings of his own as he helped KKR clinch their second IPL title in a high-intensity final in Bengaluru. Pandey lit up the Bengaluru crowd with seven boundaries and six sixes as he helped KKR pull off the highest successful chase in any Twenty20 final up until that point. Pandey missed out on a well-deserved ton but his batting ensured KKR was never in doubt of chasing their target of 200.

In fact, till now Surya and Sachin Tendulkar have scored more than 600 runs in an IPL season once each while playing for MI. Now Surya has done the feat of scoring more than 600 runs in 2 different seasons while playing for MI. Suryakumar Yadav has broken Sachin Tendulkar's 15-year-old record as Tendulkar scored 618 runs in IPL 2010. After that, he could not touch the 600-run mark in any season till his IPL retirement. On the other hand, talking about Surya, he scored 605 runs in IPL 2023. At the same time, he has done this feat again in IPL 2025. Mumbai Indians' key batsman has contributed to their first two IPL 2025 matches. Despite a strong performance against Gujarat Titans, where he scored 48 runs before being dismissed, he is expected to play a significant role in their upcoming game against Kolkata Knight Riders on Monday. Sachin Tendulkar scored 618 runs in IPL 2010, but Suryakumar has now overtaken him. Rohit Sharma's name is nowhere to be seen in the list of players who scored the most runs for MI in a single season. Suryakumar Yadav - 619+ runs (IPL 2025) Sachin Tendulkar - 618 runs (IPL 2010) Suryakumar Yadav - 605 runs (IPL 2023) Sachin Tendulkar - 553 runs (IPL 2011) Lendl Simmons - 540 runs (IPL 2015) Rohit Sharma's name missing from the list While Surya made record after record, the most surprising thing was that Rohit Sharma's name is nowhere to be seen in the list of players who scored the most runs for Mumbai Indians in a single season. This marks a new era for MI in which Suryakumar Yadav has emerged as the main run scorer of the team.

IPL 2025: Punjab Kings record second-highest team total in Dharamsala

The Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamsala is hosting its first game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) today. In the match, PBKS, after being invited to bat first, rode on a half-century from Prabhsimran Singh (91) and handy cameos from Josh Inglis (30), Shreyas Iyer (45), and Shashank Singh (33 not out) to power their team to 236 for 5 at the 20-over mark. This is the second-highest team total at this venue, behind only RCB's 241 for 7 in IPL 2024. Punjab Kings surpassed their own record of 232 runs against RCB in IPL 2011 to move to second on the list. Highest team totals at HPCA Stadium, Dharamsala Prabhsimran lights up the skies of Dharamsala Also Read Punjab Kings' innings got off to a shaky start, as in-form opener Priyansh Arya was dismissed for just 1 run by Akash Singh on the fifth ball of the match. However, Josh Inglis, promoted to the No. 3 spot, counter-attacked with a quickfire 30 to stabilise the early wobble before also falling to Akash. Skipper Shreyas Iyer then took charge and stitched a crucial 78-run partnership with Prabhsimran Singh, guiding PBKS back on track. Iyer looked set before a mistimed shot saw him caught at point off Divesh Rathi's bowling. Nehal Wadhera chipped in with 16 but was bowled by Prince Yadav, keeping Lucknow Super Giants in the contest. The standout performer of the innings was Prabhsimran Singh, who continued his dream run in IPL 2025 by smashing his third consecutive fifty, scoring a sublime 91 before being dismissed by Rathi. In the death overs, Shashank Singh (33* off 15) and Marcus Stoinis (15* off 5) unleashed some powerful strokes to finish the innings strongly, helping PBKS post a commanding 236/5 in their 20 overs.
