Suryakumar Yadav has created history in IPL. He has done a historic feat by scoring 17 runs in the match against Punjab Kings. In fact, before the match against Punjab, Surya had scored 583 runs this season and by scoring 17 runs, he has become the third player to touch the 600-run mark in IPL 2025. At the same time, he has surpassed Sachin Tendulkar in terms of scoring more than 600 runs in a season the most number of times.
Suryakumar has become the first player in IPL history to score more than 600 runs in more than one season while playing for Mumbai Indians. In fact, till now Surya and Sachin Tendulkar have scored more than 600 runs in an IPL season once each while playing for MI. Now Surya has done the feat of scoring more than 600 runs in 2 different seasons while playing for MI.
Suryakumar Yadav has broken Sachin Tendulkar's 15-year-old record as Tendulkar scored 618 runs in IPL 2010. After that, he could not touch the 600-run mark in any season till his IPL retirement. On the other hand, talking about Surya, he scored 605 runs in IPL 2023. At the same time, he has done this feat again in IPL 2025.
Mumbai Indians' key batsman has contributed to their first two IPL 2025 matches. Despite a strong performance against Gujarat Titans, where he scored 48 runs before being dismissed, he is expected to play a significant role in their upcoming game against Kolkata Knight Riders on Monday. Suryakumar Yadav has now also become the highest run-scorer for MI in a single season. Sachin Tendulkar scored 618 runs in IPL 2010, but Suryakumar has now overtaken him. Rohit Sharma's name is nowhere to be seen in the list of players who scored the most runs for MI in a single season.
Suryakumar Yadav - 619+ runs (IPL 2025) Sachin Tendulkar - 618 runs (IPL 2010) Suryakumar Yadav - 605 runs (IPL 2023) Sachin Tendulkar - 553 runs (IPL 2011) Lendl Simmons - 540 runs (IPL 2015) Rohit Sharma's name missing from the list While Surya made record after record, the most surprising thing was that Rohit Sharma's name is nowhere to be seen in the list of players who scored the most runs for Mumbai Indians in a single season. This marks a new era for MI in which Suryakumar Yadav has emerged as the main run scorer of the team.

Lot Of People Have Criticised...: Mark Boucher Reveals Why Winning WTC Final Is Important For South Africa

Former South Africa cricketer and head coach Mark Boucher believes the Temba Bavuma-led side winning the upcoming World Test Championship final against Australia might well turn out to be the turning point for Test cricket in the country. South Africa will mark their first-ever appearance in a WTC final when they take on Australia at Lord's on June 11. The side had topped the 2023-25 World Test Championship (WTC) cycle points table after winning seven Tests in a row and grabbed the top spot with a 69.44 points percentage. South Africa are currently preparing for the all-important one-off Test by taking on Zimbabwe in a warm-up clash at Arundel. "A lot of people have criticised South Africa, which is not really fair. You play what's in front of you, and with all due respect, the sides that we've played against, we probably should have beaten, and we've done that. So we find ourselves in a final." "But I wouldn't say that it has got the crowds going in our country. Everyone's very excited about it now, as the opportunity arises, a lot of people are going to travel over to London, spend all their Rands, and go watch what should be a good match. If we win it, I think that could be the turnaround for Test cricket in our country," Boucher was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo. The clash at the Lord's is also the second time the men's team will play in an ICC title clash after becoming runners-up in the 2024 Men's T20 World Cup. With the women's team also ending up as runners-up in successive T20 World Cups, Boucher strongly believes the chokers tag will continue to be associated with them till they don't win a major tournament, though that feeling is different in the WTC. "We're playing for a trophy, so I guess a lot of people are saying no [we can't win], but I think it's a different feel in Test match cricket. It's played over a longer period of time, and you've just got to win big moments in the game as well. Yes, there will be that tag [chokers] that gets thrown our way until we win a trophy." "You're not going to get rid of the tag. Is it deserving of these youngsters coming through? No, it's almost like they're carrying the burden of what happened in previous years, which is always going to be tough on them, but they're the ones in control of their futures at the moment," he added. Boucher signed off by saying that opener Ryan Rickelton and hard-hitting batter Tristan Stubbs hold the key for South Africa in the upcoming WTC final. "Ryan Rickelton has been playing nicely for Mumbai Indians (MI), and he was actually on the tour that we went to England (in 2022) as well. He's actually played quite a few games in England as well, so he'll know the conditions." "And Tristan Stubbs has come back and played a lot of domestic cricket and basically forced his way into the Test side because of the runs that he's got. On paper, Australia will probably feel that they've got a better batting line-up than what we have, but have we got the attitude to go out there and, in a one-off game, just leave it all out there? Absolutely," he added.

KSCA officials quit hours after HC shield from arrest

Karnataka State Cricket Association's (KSCA) secretary A Shankar and treasurer ES Jairam have resigned from their posts, owing moral responsibility for the tragic stampede at Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium here on Wednesday, hours after the Karnataka High Court granted them protection from police arrests. In a letter to KSCA president Raghuram Bhat, they said they wished to own moral responsibility though their role was very limited. The stampede and congestion near the stadium led to the death of 11 cricket fans and injuries to scores of others. The resignations followed the state government launching a crackdown on the agencies involved in organising the felicitation events at the Chinnaswamy stadium after Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) won the Indian Premier League (IPL) title for the first time. On Thursday, chief minister Siddaramaiah ordered the arrest of senior executives of RCB, KSCA and event manager DNA Entertainment Network. Shankar and Jairam, along with Bhat, moved the High Court on Friday after the police charged the three organisations with culpable homicide not amounting to murder and other sections under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. In their petition, the KSCA office bearers said the association was only a governing body of cricket in Karnataka with affiliation to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). It has nothing to do with IPL events and Wednesday's celebrations were organized by RCB franchise and managed by its vendor DNA Entertainment Network, they argued. KSCA's role was limited to making the stadium and its infrastructure available to RCB and DNA. The police, the petitioners alleged, registered the FIR against them under intense pressure and compelling circumstances without any preliminary enquiry.

KSCA holds crisis meeting after Bengaluru stadium stampede

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], June 7 (ANI): The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) held a key meeting on Friday to decide the next course of action following the stampede incident outside M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The meeting was being chaired by KSCA President Raghuram Bhat. More details are awaited. Earlier in the day, top senior officials of Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), secretary A Shankar and treasurer ES Jairam, tendered their resignations from their posts, taking 'moral responsibility' for the stampede that took place near M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday. This was ahead of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) team's felicitation after winning their Indian Premier League (IPL) title by defeating Punjab Kings (PBKS) in a tight final on Tuesday. As per ESPNCricinfo, the resignation has been submitted to the president of the board, Raghuram Bhat. Also in Bengaluru, CID officials paid a visit to KSCA office, with the state government having ordered a CID probe into the stampede case. Apart from this, a government letter surfaced revealing that the Karnataka government had granted written permission to the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) to hold an event at Vidhana Soudha to celebrate RCB's victory. The letter, dated June 4, was a swift response to KSCA's request, which the government approved by applying 19 conditions, as a huge crowd was expected in the Chinnaswamy stadium. Among the top concerns mentioned in the approval letter is the safety of the iconic Vidhana Soudha premises. 'Due to the large crowd that will gather during this event, precautions should be taken to ensure that no damage is done to the Grand Steps, statues, roads, or parks. You must be willing to cover the full repair or cost if any kind of disaster occurs,' mentions the letter. The other key conditions included, 'The program should be conducted without disrupting the traffic system. Action will be taken in this regard in coordination with the Police Department. The program should be conducted in a manner that does not interfere with office work. Keeping the event venue clean. Plastic bottles and items are strictly prohibited.' Apart from this, the event management company arranging the breakfast was asked to pay an advance security deposit of Rs 10,000, which was refundable, and a non-refundable Rs 10,000 fee. Meanwhile, a sessions Court in Bengaluru on Friday remanded four individuals, including senior Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) official Nikhil Sosale and three event managers, to 14 days of judicial custody in connection with the stampede outside M Chinnaswamy Stadium here. They were arrested in a joint operation by the Cubbon Park Police and the Central Crime Branch (CCB) at Kempegowda International Airport in the early hours of June 6 (Friday). (ANI)
