‘Real f***** deal': Dale Steyn hails Dewald Brevis after T20I century in Australia, AB de Villiers lauds CSK ‘masterstroke'

The coming of age 'Baby AB' Dewald Brevis with a jaw-dropping T20I hundred against Australia on Tuesday drew lavish praise from South Africa stalwarts AB de Villiers and Dale Steyn. The 22-year-old Brevis burst on the scene as a teenaged prodigy and even made his first IPL appearance as early as the 2022 season with the Mumbai Indians. However, it took a stunning injury replacement coup from Chennai Super Kings and a prolific SA20 tournament this year to announce his true arrival, and a rollicking 41-ball century in international colours exemplified Brevis' potential. 'Brevis is the real f***** deal,' Steyn wrote on X after Brevis plundered an unbeaten 125 off 56 balls, his innings laced with 12 fours and eight sixes. Powering the Proteas to 218 for six, the knock ensured South Africa levelled the series 1-1. Missed out badly. CSK either got very lucky, or maybe the biggest master stroke ever. The boy can play,' wrote de Villiers on X. There was such a golden opportunity for IPL teams to pick up Dewald Brevis at the auction! Missed out badly. CSK either got very lucky, or maybe the biggest master stroke ever👏 The boy can play @BrevisDewald — AB de Villiers (@ABdeVilliers17) August 12, 2025 'Mind boggling that he wasn't picked up at all! To think that he came in as an injury sub,' he added. Signed up as an injury replacement for INR 2.2 Crore, Brevis lit up the second half of CSK's 2025 IPL season, scoring 225 runs in six innings at a 180.00 strike rate. 'I haven't thought about it to be honest (on having the highest score for South Africa in T20Is). Really grateful and thankful to god for winning tonight. We want to win and to come back stronger after the first game,' said Brevis after the innings. 'Everyone played a part, and we took our catches. They are great players and they hit the ball hard and over the ropes, we have to be on it in this format. We played well today, so it's great,' he added.

photoDetails english 2932370 Updated:Jul 15, 2025, 10:44 PM IST 1. Ravichandran Ashwin 1 / 8 Veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was bought for a hefty sum of Rs 9.75 Cr by the Chennai Super Kings during the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. Ashwin was CSK's second-most expensive buy at the IPL 2025 mega auction but he failed to deliver as per the expectations. The 37-year-old played nine matches for CSK in IPL 2025 and picked only 7 wickets. He was also left out of the CSK playing 11 on a few occasions. Ravichandran Ashwin's IPL Record 2 / 8 Ravichandran Ashwin, who is one of India's greatest off-spinners, has picked 187 wickets and scored 833 runs in 221 matches of his IPL career so far. 2. Rahul Tripathi 3 / 8 Rahul Tripathi was picked up by CSK for Rs 3.40 crore at the IPL 2025 auction. He was tried at multiple positions but he failed to deliver with the bat. In five matches of IPL 2025, Tripathi scored just 55 runs with an ordinary average of 11.00 and strike rate of 96.49 and was eventually dropped from CSK's playing XI. Given his ordinary performance, CSK may opt to release him before the IPL 2026 auction to explore more reliable batters for the next season. Rahul Tripathi's IPL Record 4 / 8 Rahul Tripathi, who is known for his innovative strokeplay, has scored 2291 runs in 100 matches with an average of 26.33 and strike rate of 137.85 in his IPL career so far. 3. Devon Conway 5 / 8 In the IPL 2025 mega Auction, the Chennai Super Kings picked star opener Devon Conway for Rs 6.25 crore. However, CSK preferred Rachin Ravindra over Conway for the first half of IPL. When Conway got his chances, he wasn't able to perform upto the expectations, scoring 156 runs in 6 matches of IPL 2025 season. Devon Conway's IPL Record 6 / 8 New Zealand opener Devon Conway, who was a key figure in CSK's 2023 title-winning campaign, has scored 1080 runs in 29 matches with an average of 43.20 and strike rate of 139.71 in his IPL career so far. 4. Deepak Hooda 7 / 8 Deepak Hooda, who was picked by CSK for Rs 1.7 crore during the auction, disappointed with his performance in IPL 2025 season. He was tried at various batting positions but he failed to deliver, scoring just 31 runs in 7 matches in the IPL 2025 season. After his disappointing outing, CSK might consider releasing Hooda before the IPL 2026 auction and buy some impactful batters ahead of the next season. Deepak Hooda's IPL Record 8 / 8 Deepak Hooda made his IPL debut in 2015 and has played more than 100 matches in the league. He has scored 1496 runs in 125 matches with an average of 17.60 and strike rate of 127.64 in his IPL career so far.

4 Players Punjab Kings Might Release Before IPL 2026 Auction: Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell And...

photoDetails english 2931838 Updated:Jul 14, 2025, 07:20 PM IST 1. Glenn Maxwell 1 / 7 Glenn Maxwell was bought by Punjab Kings (PBKS) for Rs. 4.2 crore during the IPL mega auction. PBKS had high expectations from him but he had a disappointing season. The 36-year-old Maxwell scored only 48 runs and picked 4 wickets in seven matches of the IPL 2025 before getting ruled out of the tournament due to a broken finger. It's not for the first that Maxwell has disappointed an IPL team with his performance. He has had only a few good seasons in the IPL so far. Given his disappointing performance, PBKS might consider releasing Maxwell to free up funds and buy a more impactful performer during the IPL 2026 auction. Glenn Maxwell's IPL Record 2 / 7 Glenn Maxwell, who has played for multiple franchises, has scored 2819 runs in 141 IPL matches with an average of 23.88 and strike rate of 155.14 so far. He has picked 41 wickets so far. 2. Lockie Ferguson 3 / 7 Lockie Ferguson, the New Zealand pacer was picked by Punjab Kings (PBKS) for Rs. 2 crore at the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. He performed decently for Punjab Kings with five wickets in four games, before getting ruled out of the IPL 2025 due to a hamstring injury. More than his performance, Punjab Kings might consider releasing Ferguson due to recurring fitness issues. He has had injury issues in the past as well. So PBKS may look for a more dependable overseas pacer during the IPL 2026 auction. Lockie Ferguson's IPL Record 4 / 7 Lockie Ferguson, who is known for his raw pace, has picked 51 wickets in 49 IPL matches with an average of 30.00 and economy rate of 8.97 so far. 3. Marcus Stoinis 5 / 7 Australia all-rounder Marcus Stoinis was picked by Punjab Kings for Rs 11 crore during the mega auction. However, he couldn't perform upto the expectations, scoring just 160 runs in 13 matches and took only one wicket. Given his hefty price and below par performance, Punjab Kings might consider releasing Stoinis and buy a more effective all-rounder during the IPL 2026 auction. Marcus Stoinis' IPL Record 6 / 7 Marcus Stoinis, who is known for his ability to hit big sixes in the death overs, has scored 2026 runs in 109 IPL matches with an average of 28.13 and strike rate of 144.71 so far. He has picked 44 wickets as well. 4. Aaron Hardie 7 / 7 Aaron Hardie, the Australian allrounder, was picked by Punjab Kings (PBKS) for INR 1.25 Crore at the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. However, he didn't play a single game during IPL 2025. With several overseas all-rounders already in the squad, PBKS might consider releasing Hardie before the IPL 2026 auction in order to free up funds and an overseas slot.

4 Players Sunrisers Hyderabad Might Release Before IPL 2026 Auction: Ishan Kishan, Mohammed Shami And...

photoDetails english 2931350 Updated:Jul 13, 2025, 08:06 PM IST 1. Ishan Kishan 1 / 8 India wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan was acquired by Sunrisers Hyderabad for a massive Rs. 11.40 crore at the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. However, Ishan has failed to perform up to the expectations in the IPL 2025 season. The 26-year-old Ishan started his IPL 2025 with a century against Rajasthan Royals. However, he failed to produce big knocks after that century, scoring 354 runs in 14 matches of IPL 2025 so far. Considering his high salary and low return, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) might consider releasing Ishan before the IPL 2026 auction. Ishan Kishan's IPL Record 2 / 8 Ishan Kishan, a left-handed wicketkeeper-batter, has scored 2998 runs in 119 IPL matches with an average of 29.10 and strike rate of 137.64 so far. 2. Heinrich Klaasen 3 / 8 Sunrisers Hyderabad retained Heinrich Klaasen for a whopping Rs 23 crore ahead of the IPL 2025 auction. However, Klaasen wasn't at his best in IPL 2025 season, scoring 487 in 14 matches. Given his massive salary and low returns, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) might consider releasing Klaasen before the IPL 2026 auction. Heinrich Klaasen's IPL Record 4 / 8 Heinrich Klaasen, who is known for his ability to smash bowlers all around the park, has scored 1480 runs in 49 IPL matches so far, with an average of 40.00 and strike rate of 169.72. 3. Mohammed Shami 5 / 8 Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) bought Mohammed Shami for a massive Rs 10 crore at the IPL 2025 auction. However, the veteran Indian pacer was very ordinary with the ball, picking just 6 wickets in 9 matches with a poor economy rate of 11.23 during the IPL 2025 season. Given his salary, fitness and form, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) might consider releasing Shami before the IPL 2026 auction. Mohammed Shami's IPL Record 6 / 8 Mohammed Shami, one of India's most prolific pace bowlers, who is known for his immaculate seam position, has picked 133 wickets in 119 IPL matches, with an economy rate of 8.63 so far. 4. Rahul Chahar 7 / 8 Sunrisers Hyderabad spent Rs 3.20 crore in the mega auction to acquire Rahul Chahar for IPL 2025. However, SRH didn't trust Chahar enough as he played just one match and bowled one over during the IPL 2025 season. Given the lack of trust and decent salary, it seems like Sunrisers Hyderabad will release Rahul Chahar before the IPL 2026 auction. Rahul Chahar's IPL Record 8 / 8 India leg-spinner Rahul Chahar has picked 75 wickets in 79 IPL matches with an economy of 7.72 so far.

Puraani Dilli 6 made a powerful statement ahead of the upcoming season by retaining one of the most iconic names in world cricket — Rishabh Pant.
