HBL Engineering wins Rs 101.55 crore Kavach contract from IRCON
By Aman Shukla Published on May 27, 2025, 16:34 IST HBL Engineering Limited (formerly HBL Power Systems Limited) has received a Letter of Acceptance from IRCON International Limited for the implementation of the Kavach system, an indigenous Automatic Train Protection (ATP) technology. The awarded project covers the Bangalore and Mysore divisions of South Western Railway. The contract includes the provision of Kavach across 85 railway stations, covering a total route length of 778 kilometers and installation on two locomotives. The total contract value is Rs. 101.55 crores, inclusive of 18% GST. The project is expected to be completed within a period of 18 months. This order adds to HBL Engineering's growing order book, which now stands at Rs. 3,865.43 crores. The contract is domestic in nature, and there is no involvement or interest from the company's promoters, promoter group, or group companies. IRCON International Limited recently informed exchanges that the company secured a significant contract worth INR 187 crore for the construction of a Dedicated Rural Industrial Park in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The contract was awarded by Kerala State IT Infrastructure Ltd. (KSITIL), marking an important milestone for the company in the region. This project will involve the development of an industrial park specifically designed to boost rural industrialization in the Thiruvananthapuram district. The work will be carried out under a works contract, based on item rates. IRCON, a prominent name in infrastructure development, will oversee the entire construction process, which is expected to be completed within 30 months. Being awarded by a domestic entity, this contract reflects the growing emphasis on developing sustainable rural industries in Kerala. This contract, valued at ₹458.14 crore, pertains to civil works for the Tato-I Hydro Electric project in Arunachal Pradesh. The contract, awarded under package I, encompasses a broad range of civil engineering tasks. These include the construction of headworks, head race channel, intake systems, tunnels, surge shaft, pressure shaft, and powerhouse, along with other critical infrastructure elements.
