Nasrallah-style operation: Israel plotted to kill Iran's President Pezeshkian? Report claims secret plan

Iranian president Masoud Pezeshkian (Image credits: AP) Iranian president Masoud Pezeshkian was slightly injured by an Israeli strike during the 12-day war between Tehran and Jerusalem last month, according to a report by the IRGC-linked Fars News Agency. On June 16, four days into the conflict, Pezeshkian was attending a meeting of Iran's supreme national security council when a missile reportedly hit the building due to which he suffered a leg injury. Israel targeted the Shahrak-e Gharb area of western Tehran during the strike. Accoding to the report, the strike also targeted other top officials, including Parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and judiciary chief Mohseni Ejei. The attack was modeled after Israel's earlier assassination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut, using six missiles to hit the building's entry and exit points. Iranian leaders were located on the lower floors of the building when the blasts occurred. Power to the area was cut, but an emergency hatch allowed them to escape. Several officials, including Pezeshkian, received minor injuries while evacuating. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Esta nueva alarma con cámara es casi regalada en Pilar (ver precio) Verisure Más información Undo Authorities are now investigating the possibility of an internal leak, as the precision of the strike raised concerns about an infiltrator. President Pezeshkian had earlier claimed that Israel tried to assassinate him."They did try, acted accordingly, but they failed," he said in an interview as reported by Fars. 'Thanks to the intelligence by the spies that they had, they tried to bombard the area in which we were holding that meeting,' he added. Israel said that its large-scale offensive, launched 61 days after US President Donald Trump imposed a 60-day deadline for a nuclear agreement, was aimed at halting Iran's declared goal of destroying the state. The operation targeted Iran's top military commanders, nuclear scientists, uranium enrichment facilities, and ballistic missile program. During the 12-day attack, Israeli strikes killed several high-ranking Iranian military officials and nuclear scientists, including IRGC commander Hossein Salami, armed forces chief Mohammad Bagheri, and IRGC air force commander Amir Ali Hajizadeh.

Israeli strike targeted high-level Iranian security meeting; Prez Pezeshkian escapes with injuries: Report

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian was reportedly the target of an Israeli assassination attempt during a strike in Tehran on 15 June, in which he escaped with injuries, according to Iran's Fars News Agency. read more President Masoud Pezeshkian will defend Minister Abdolnaser Hemmati (not pictured), who will also speak in favour of his own record. AFP Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian was reportedly the target of an Israeli assassination attempt during a strike on 15 June, amid the ongoing war between Iran and Israel, according to a report by Iran's IRGC-linked Fars News Agency. The report claims that Israel targeted a high-level meeting of Iran's Supreme National Security Council in Tehran, aiming to kill Pezeshkian, along with the Speaker of Parliament and the head of the judiciary. The strike reportedly involved missiles or bombs used to block the exits of the building where the meeting was taking place. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Pezeshkian was said to have sustained a minor leg injury, and all three officials managed to escape through an emergency exit. The attack, which reportedly injured the officials as they fled from the lower levels of the building, is currently under investigation. Authorities suspect that a mole may have leaked information about the meeting to Israel. The assassination attempt was allegedly modelled on Israel's operation that killed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut last year. Speaking to American commentator Tucker Carlson last week, Pezeshkian confirmed the attempt on his life. 'They did try, yes. They acted accordingly, but they failed,' he said during a 28-minute interview. While he did not specify the date, he said the attack took place during a meeting and that Israel had used intelligence provided by spies to target the location. The attempt was part of a broader Israeli offensive last month targeting Iran's military and nuclear infrastructure. That campaign led to the killing of senior Iranian military commanders and nuclear scientists. Israel stated the strikes were necessary to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon. The armed conflict between Iran and Israel began on 13 June 2025, when Israel launched surprise attacks on key Iranian military and nuclear sites, amid the ongoing Gaza war and broader regional tensions. In the opening hours of the conflict, Israeli air and ground forces killed several high-ranking Iranian military leaders, nuclear scientists, and politicians, and damaged or destroyed significant parts of Iran's air defences and nuclear facilities. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Throughout the war, Israel conducted hundreds of airstrikes. In response, Iran launched waves of missile and drone attacks targeting Israeli cities and military installations, firing over 550 ballistic missiles and more than 1,000 explosive drones. On 22 June, the United States joined the offensive, striking key Iranian nuclear facilities at Natanz, Fordo, and Isfahan using 'bunker-busting' bombs and Tomahawk missiles. There were reports that Israel planned to assassinate Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, but US President Donald Trump claimed credit for preventing American and Israeli forces from carrying out the plan.

'Strange phenomenon!': Iranian official says Israel used supernatural forces in war; accuses Netanyahu of 'jinn' tactics

Abdollah Ganji (Image credits: X @IranWireEnglish) A senior Iranian figure has claimed that Israel employed occult powers and supernatural forces during the recent 12-day conflict between the two countries. Abdollah Ganji, the former editor of the IRGC-linked newspaper Javan, made the statement on Wednesday in a post on X. 'After the recent war, a few sheets of paper were found on the streets of Tehran containing talismans with Jewish symbols,' Ganji wrote calling it a 'strange phenomenon!' He also referred to previous unverified reports that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had met with occult specialists during the early stages of the Gaza war. 'In the first year of the Gaza war, news had also leaked about Netanyahu meeting with occult specialists,' he said. The Iranian official further claimed that the use of supernatural methods by foreign intelligence services had long been warned about by Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei. 'Hostile countries and Western and Hebrew intelligence services use occult sciences and jinn entities for espionage,' he quoted. The post quickly sparked online backlash and mockery. Israel's political advisor to the permanent representative at the United Nations, Waleed Gadban, responded sarcastically by reposting a Mossad message with the Farsi caption, 'Jinn, jinn are everywhere,' followed by a ghost emoji. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like So sánh mức trượt giá: Hợp đồng tương lai (CFD) Bitcoin vs Ethereum IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo Several users ridiculed Ganji's comments. $30 Million Bounty and Drone Threat: Iranian Clerics Call for Trump's Assassination

Tensions between the U.S. and Iran have escalated after Iranian clerics reportedly issued a religious decree, or fatwa, calling for the assassination of former U.S. President Donald Trump. The threats are said to be retaliation for Trump's authorization of airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities earlier this year. In a recent state TV broadcast, senior Iranian official Javad Larijani, an advisor to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, warned that Trump could be hit by a micro-drone while sunbathing at his Florida estate, Mar-a-Lago. He stated, "It's very simple... a small drone might hit him in the navel." Iran International reported that a website has claimed over $30 million has been raised as a bounty for Trump. Cleric Grand Ayatollah Naser Makarem Shirazi also declared Trump a Muharib, or "enemy of Islam," a label in Islamic law punishable by death. The remarks come amid rising hostility following the 2020 killing of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani. In June, Trump claimed he had a chance to target Ayatollah Khamenei during a conflict but chose not to, saying, "I saved him from a very ugly death." Iranian state-backed newspaper Kayhan added fuel to the fire in April, publishing an article urging Trump's assassination in revenge for Soleimani's death. The U.S. Department of Justice has previously disclosed Iranian plots to kill Trump. In November 2024, IRGC-linked agent Farhad Shakeri and two U.S.-based accomplices were charged with planning an assassination. Trump has survived two known attempts on his life in 2024—one during a rally in Pennsylvania, and another while golfing in Florida. The Secret Service successfully intervened in both incidents. The threats mark a dangerous peak in the ongoing U.S.-Iran conflict, with national security agencies on high alert.

Tory MSP says Iran backing Scottish independence campaign

The UK Defence Journal reported that the accounts — posting frequently on X under bios such as 'NHS nurse' and 'Glaswegian socialist' — went dark on Wednesday June 12, the same day Israeli airstrikes reportedly targeted digital infrastructure used by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). READ MORE 'Does it not concern the Scottish Government that its central policy objective is being actively backed by the terrorist state of Iran, as part of its campaign to weaken this United Kingdom?' Mr Fraser asked. Cabinet Secretary Angus Robertson hit back, accusing the Tory MSP of smearing legitimate supporters of independence. 'I think Mr Fraser should be very careful about seeking to smear people in this country who believe that this country should be a sovereign state,' he said. 'It is a position held by the majority of people elected to this Parliament, and I think it's beneath the member to seek to smear a majority in this Parliament, notwithstanding the differences that we have on this issue.' Israeli warplanes have pounded Iran's capital The UK Defence Journal described the disappearance of the accounts as 'the most visible rupture to date in a long-running foreign influence operation'. An unnamed open-source intelligence researcher told the publication: 'The timing, posting patterns, and network structure all point in one direction. 'What we're seeing is classic IRGC-linked activity: coordinated accounts posting at regular intervals, linguistic and thematic uniformity across profiles, and sudden synchronous silence. 'The kicker is infrastructure dependency. These accounts didn't log off; they were cut off — almost certainly because their command-and-control layer, likely hosted through Iranian VPN exit nodes or proxy-managed access platforms, went down after the strikes.' They described the abrupt halt as a 'textbook signature' of an 'externalised influence operation losing its operational backend'. The use of bots, sock-puppet accounts, and other 'astroturfing' tactics is common in cyber warfare. While Russia is often cited as a major player, Iran's Revolutionary Guard has also been linked to covert online operations. A 2023 study by Clemson University's Media Forensics Hub identified more than 80 accounts impersonating socially conscious British users, with bios such as 'Ex NHS Nurse. Hopeful for a better future with a lot less inequality'. READ MORE The researchers said the accounts were likely operated by or for the IRGC and intended to amplify political division in the UK — particularly around Scottish independence. The network reportedly generated around 250,000 tweets since late 2021, mixing support for independence with criticism of the UK Government, anti-monarchy messaging, and progressive slogans. At its peak in early 2024, it was said to be responsible for at least 4% of all Scottish independence-related posts on X — four times the output of the SNP's official account.
