Canara Engineering College of Mangaluru gets autonomous status
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has granted autonomy to Canara Engineering College, Mangaluru, according to M. Ranganath Bhat, honorary secretary of the Canara High School Association, which manages the college. Addressing press persons here on Thursday, Mr. Bhat said that the autonomous status will be effective till the academic year 2034-35. 'With the autonomy, the college can now design its own curriculum, conduct examinations, and declare results. This pivotal moment comes as the college prepares to celebrate its silver jubilee, marking a new chapter of academic innovation, flexibility, and excellence,' he said. Spread over a 26-acre campus, the college, which started in 2001, currently offers seven undergraduate engineering programs with a student strength of 2,171, supported by 126 faculty members, including 30 Ph.D. holders. 'While continuing its affiliation with the VTU, Belagavi, the college is now empowered to take a more dynamic and innovative approach to higher education, focused on the needs of both students and the ever-evolving industry landscape,' Mr. Bhat said. Its placement record in 2024-25 stood over 73% with 152 companies visiting the campus. It recorded 100% passes among final-year students for 2024–25. The college is accredited by NAAC with an 'A' grade, and three of its programs—Computer Science, Information Science, and Electronics and Communications Engineering—are accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) till June 30, 2028 from July 1, 2025. The college is also certified with ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 21001:2018. The association, founded by Ammembal Subba Rao Pai, is a 134-year-old institution providing quality education from kindergarten to post-graduation levels. 'Our educational institutions today educate over 11,000 students and employ more than 700 staff members, nurturing generations of learners irrespective of social or economic background,' Mr. Bhat said.

Chittoor: The Apollo University, Chittoor has been awarded the ISO 21001:2018 certification, a global recognition for excellence in implementing educational organisation management systems. This certification has also been granted to Apollo College of Nursing campuses in Chittoor and Chennai, further underscoring the group's commitment to maintaining high academic standards. To mark this milestone, a certificate handover ceremony was held on Friday at the campus. M Mahesh Malpathak, Director, BSI India, presented the ISO 21001:2018 certificates to Prof M Potharaju, Registrar of The Apollo University, Dr T Jayanthi, Principal of Apollo College of Nursing, and Dr Sathyashakthi, Principal of Apollo College of Nursing, Chennai. Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor of Apollo University Dr H Vinod Bhat said that this recognition reflects their steadfast commitment to delivering quality education through globally benchmarked academic standards. The Apollo University in Chittoor has been awarded the ISO 21001:2018 certification, signifying international recognition for excellence in educational management systems, announced Vice-Chancellor H. Vinod Bhat on Friday. During a ceremony held to commemorate this achievement, he noted that the certification also extends to the university's nursing colleges in Chittoor and Chennai. 'This recognition underscores the university's commitment to adhering to global academic standards,' the Vice-Chancellor stated. He further added that the university is actively working towards obtaining NAAC accreditation by June 2026. SPMVV receives ISO certification
Sri Padmavati Mahila Viswa Vidyalayam (SPMVV) received the prestigious International Standards Organisation (ISO) certification for multiple achievements in the domains of Education, Energy and Environmental Management. The certificates include ISO 21001:2018 (Educational organisation management system), ISO 50001:2018 (Energy management system) and ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental management system). Apart from these, the university also received the 'Green Zone Certificate of Excellence'. When the audits were conducted on April 16 and 17, the auditing teams expressed satisfaction over the performance of all the academic and administrative departments, and lauded the varsity for maintaining the highest standards in all its operations. HYM International Certifications Private Limited's managing director Alapati Sivaiah, who officially presented the ISO certificates to the Vice-Chancellor V. Uma, registrar N.
