Sheryl Crow 'reassessed' life after Lance Armstrong split and cancer diagnosis
Sheryl Crow started to "reassess" her life after her break-up from Lance Armstrong. The 63-year-old singer decided to relocate to Nashville, Tennessee, from Hollywood in the wake of her split from the cyclist - who, at the time, had three children with first wife Kristin Richard and now has two other kids with spouse Anna Hanse - and diagnosis with breast cancer because the major life changes made her reconsider her priorities. She told Variety: "We all have those moments in our life where we have to pivot. "I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006, and I moved here in 2007. "I think having come out of a relationship where I thought I was gonna be married and was close to the kids that were gonna be my stepkids, then got diagnosed—all three of those things made me reassess. "I just looked at it and thought, 'I want to put down roots; I want to have a family.' My sisters live here, and my family all lived within three hours, and I just decided to start phase two." The 'If It Makes You Happy' hitmaker went on to adopt son Wyatt, now 18, in 3007 and Levi, 15, in 2010. Sheryl always puts her sons first and cut short her stint on Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan's 'Outlaw Music Festival Tour' because her boys have school and "don't want to go on the road". She added: "I'm too selfish to want to miss any time with them. I feel like my 18 year old was just born, and he's gonna be leaving for college in a year." But Sheryl wants to take on more work once her sons are ready to leave home. She said: "I'll go back to work full time because I have an acute connection to joy when I'm playing.' The 'All I Wanna Do' singer is thankful she isn't just starting her career now because of the obsession with stars and their "brands". She said: 'When I think about it, it does make me sad that kids grow up now in my line of work where you hope you write a song as big as your brand, and the brand is so 24 hours a day — it's so cultivated and so ego driven that if I were coming up in today's world, I wouldn't be able to do it, because the ego is the thing that makes me so miserable. 'I already struggle with having my feelings hurt. I can't imagine what it would be like to go into it knowing I've got to build this picture of a famous, secure person but also try to be vulnerable and be an artist. "I think if you're a person like me that struggles with depression already, you're always trying to figure out how to quiet those voices. And I've sort of made peace with it.'

Sheryl Crow says armed man broke onto her Nashville property after selling her Tesla in protest of Elon Musk
Sheryl Crow has revealed that an armed man had 'barged onto her property' after she posted a now-viral video of her selling her Tesla in protest of Elon Musk. The 'If It Makes You Happy' hitmaker, 63, shared a clip on social media in which she happily waved goodbye to her electric car in February as it was towed away from her Nashville, Tenn., home. Crow divided fans when she said that she would donate the money to NPR after the radio network received criticism from the Tesla founder when the Department of Government Efficiency looked to slash funding. 'This feels different, because when I came out against Walmart carrying guns, not everybody was armed — and certainly I didn't live in Tennessee, where everybody is armed,' she told Variety. Advertisement 'So yeah, there was a moment where I actually really felt very afraid: A man got on my property, in my barn, who was armed. It doesn't feel safe when you're dealing with people who are so committed.' Still, Crow admitted she 'can't help' but think she would post the same video all over again despite the frosty response, especially as a mom of two adopted sons. (Crow is mom to Wyatt, 18, and Levi, 15.) 4 In February, she shared a clip in which she happily waved goodbye to her car as it was towed away from her Nashville, Tenn., home. @ sherylcrow/Instagram 'I feel like I'm fighting for my kids. Also, that's the way I was raised,' she said. 'There have been times when it hasn't really been fun, but I follow my Atticus Finch dad; I'm very similar to him if I see something that seems unfair, you know?' Advertisement In 1996, Walmart banned Crow's titular second album from its stores when she name-dropped the retail giant selling guns in her hit song 'Love Is A Good Thing.' Crow's lyrics mentioned, 'Watch out, sister, watch out, brother. Watch our children while they kill each other. With a gun they bought at Walmart discount stores.' 4 Crow divided fans when she said that she would donate the money to NPR after Musk's criticism of the radio network. @ sherylcrow/Instagram Elsewhere, the 'All I Wanna Do' singer said she doesn't regret swapping Los Angeles for Nashville in 2003 — but noted that her views don't always align with those of her more conservative neighbors. Advertisement 'Tennessee is a hard place for me. I mean, I struggle,' she told the outlet. 'I call my representatives [in Congress] every single morning — Andy Ogles and Marsha Blackburn hear from me every day — because we have to stand up and be vocal and fight for the future for our kids.' 'I do think, 'Are they laughing?' But it's like what Jimmy Carter said, As long as there's legal bribery, we won't ever have fair elections,' the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer went on. 'So we have to keep raising our voices and showing up to these organized rallies.' Crow was hit with mass backlash after she dramatically bid adieu to her black Tesla in protest of 'President Musk' in February. 4 The 9-time Grammy winner revealed that she discovered an armed man inside the barn of her remote, 50-acre property. FilmMagic 'My parents always said… you are who you hang out with,' Crow, 63, wrote on Instagram along with the viral clip. 'There comes a time when you have to decide who you are willing to align with. So long Tesla.' The 'Soak Up the Sun' singer didn't say how much she raked in by pawning off the Tesla — the least expensive of which start at $42,000 — but promised to give all the cash to the radio network.

‘So long Tesla': Sheryl Crow ditches car due to affiliation with Elon Musk
It looks like purchasing a Tesla might not be this singer's favorite mistake. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and 'If It Makes You Happy' artist Sheryl Crow took to Instagram on Saturday with a video of her waving her Tesla goodbye as it was shipped off. In the caption, Crow cited Tesla's affiliation to Elon Musk, who she facetiously called 'President Musk,' for her reasoning. 'My parents always said… you are who you hang out with,' she said. 'There comes a time when you have to decide who you are willing to align with. So long Tesla.' Of Musk's many titles and jobs, his role as CEO of Tesla was perhaps the one that made him a household name. He joined the electric-car company in 2004 as chairman and became CEO in 2008, a role he still holds to this day. Trump opponent Adam Schiff now has his sights on Elon Musk's DOGE As of late, however, the world's wealthiest man has taken a role in the White House as a 'special government employee.' Musk has worked closely with President Donald Trump and is the head of the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, officially a temporary contracted office designed to cut costs and tackle the national debt. Musk and Trump have made several appearances together in the weeks since the president returned to office. Last week, Musk spoke to reporters in the Oval Office while a quiet Trump sat at the Resolute Desk, leading to some critics of the new administration to joke about who the 'real president' is. Evidently, Crow aligns herself with that group. As part of the Instagram post Saturday, Crow said she would donate money to National Public Radio, as publicly funded media outlets have come under attack by Trump and Republicans in Congress. 'Money donated to NPR, which is under threat by President Musk, in hopes that the truth will continue to find its way to those willing to know the truth,' Crow posted. Musk has blasted NPR on X, which he purchased in 2022, calling it a 'hard left propaganda machine.' As recently as Feb. 4 of this year, Musk posted 'defund NPR' on his X account. Sheryl Crow sells Tesla to donate funds to embattled NPR
Country music star Sheryl Crow said she will donate funds from selling her Tesla to NPR amid President Trump's intensified calls to slash federal funding for public broadcasters — calling out tech billionaire Elon Musk's role in the administration. 'My parents always said… you are who you hang out with,' Crow wrote Friday in a post on Instagram, sharing a video of the vehicle being towed. 'There comes a time when you have to decide who you are willing to align with. So long Tesla.' The post comes as Trump has turned up the heat on public broadcasters, arguing outlets such as NPR and PBS have a liberal bias and should not receive federal funding — which makes up a small portion of its financing. Earlier this month, Musk, who helms the so-called Department of Government Efficiency, called for the federal government to 'defund' the public media outlet. 'It should survive on its own,' the Tesla CEO wrote on the social platform X. Crow, who has been an outspoken critic of the president, slammed efforts to dismantle NPR, which was founded in 1970 and receives the majority of its funding from private sponsorships and user contributions. 'Money donated to @NPR, which is under threat by President Musk, in hopes that the truth will continue to find its way to those willing to know the truth,' the country artist wrote. Trump has long called for NPR to be dismantled, and in January, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) launched an investigation into the two outlets. FCC chair Brendan Carr expressed concern that the broadcasters violate federal law by airing commercial advertisements. 'I am concerned that NPR and PBS broadcasts could be violating federal law by airing commercials,' Carr wrote to the news outlets in a letter. 'In particular, it is possible that NPR and PBS member stations are broadcasting underwriting announcements that cross the line into prohibited commercial advertisements.' The 'If It Makes You Happy,' singer's comments come as Democratic lawmakers have expressed concern about Musk's expanding influence in the Trump administration, while Republicans are reportedly scared to disagree with Trump's agenda and potentially face primary challengers bankrolled by the billionaire. Sheryl Crow Sells Tesla, Donates Proceeds To NPR In Protest Against Elon Musk
Sheryl Crow said she's sold her Tesla and will donate the proceeds to the National Public Radio in a defiant gesture against billionaire Elon Musk. The Grammy-winning musician, with hit songs like 'Strong Enough' and 'If It Makes You Happy,' posted a video to Instagram Friday of her Tesla loaded on the back of a flatbed truck. As the truck pulls away, Crow can be seen waving goodbye. 'My parents always said… you are who you hang out with,' Crow wrote in the post's caption. 'There comes a time when you have to decide who you are willing to align with. So long Tesla.' Musk, the CEO of Tesla and an unelected private citizen, has taken a hatchet to government agencies in recent weeks as he heads up the new Department of Government Efficiency. Musk has vowed to strip the government of much of its workforce as layoffs continue. Fourteen states filed a lawsuit in federal court on Thursday, accusing President Donald Trump of giving Musk ― who is referred to as a '21st century tech baron' ― unchecked power. 'The sweeping authority now vested in a single unelected and unconfirmed individual is antithetical to the nation's entire constitutional structure,' the lawsuit says. Crow said she'll be donating the proceeds from the Tesla to National Public Radio. 'Money donated to @npr, which is under threat by President Musk, in hopes that the truth will continue to find its way to those willing to know the truth,' Crow posted.
