Kjerrumgaard delighted by 'signature goal'
Watford's Luca Kjerrumgaard is not setting himself any scoring targets this season after opening his account for the club with a double against Hornets bounced back from an opening-day defeat by Charlton Athletic with Saturday's 2-1 win after Kjerrumgaard scored twice in the space of four first-half first, from Nestory Irankunda's pass, was a case of being there at the right moment, the Dane said, and the second was a header from Imran Louza's cross."That's the kind of thing I'm good at, to battle with the defender. It was one of my signature goals. It was a great assist by him (Irankunda), he's a really good guy and I'm happy we have this connection," Kjerrumgaard told BBC Three Counties Radio. Kjerrumgaard said a slight change of formation, with Irankunda more central, was the key to their good start against QPR."In the first game, we were a bit too far from each other. We had a lot of long balls and I didn't really have anyone to lay it off to," the striker added."It was hard because you felt like you were playing one against three all the time. It was better this way, but we will see what we do next."Kjerrumgaard helped Odense win promotion to the Danish top-flight last season with 22 goals in 28 games, but asked about a possible target this term, he said: "I don't like to say that. 'Sensational Louza capable of moment of madness'
To say it was an afternoon of ups and downs for Imran Louza on Saturday may well be an understatement. The Watford midfielder made his 100th appearance for the club against QPR, and for 90 minutes he was absolutely sensational. His ability to dictate the tempo of the game will delight new manager Paulo Pezzolano, while the fans will have enjoyed his Maradona-esque spin on the halfway line, taking out three QPR players in the process. But like Maradona, Louza possesses the occasional moment of this case, a lunging, wayward tackle a couple of minutes before the end resulted in a needless straight red card, leaving his side clinging 2024-25 player of the season may well still leave the club before the window should he stay, expect plenty more of the same, both good and bad.

WATFORD keeper Dan Bachmann is set to leave the club on a free transfer despite having three years left on his contract. The Championship club are looking to reduce costs ahead of the start of the season. 2 Bachmann, 30, has been at Vicarage Road for eight years but has been told that he can find a new club due to the size of his wages. And Watford are even happy to avoid demanding a transfer fee to get him off their books as soon as possible. The Austrian international, who has played 138 times for the Hornets, has attracted interest from Wrexham and Salzburg. Uruguayan boss Paulo Pezzolano has only just taken over at Watford from Tom Cleverley, who was sacked after last season. And star midfielder Imran Louza has rocked the club by saying he wants to leave immediately. Louza joined from Nantes in 2021 for £9million but is now worth about £12m. He signed a new contract in 2023 with his deal running to 2028. Louza was named Watford's Player of the Year last season. But the Hornets remain in full support of new boss Pezzolano. Following his arrival last month, sporting director Gian Luca Nani said: "Paulo has a hugely impressive track record working with young players, which is essential when you look at the age profile of our squad.
