Ohio highlights state's in-demand jobs
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – Ohio is encouraging residents to explore their career options this week during In-Demand Jobs Week, a statewide recognition of the jobs, industries, and skills that are in demand in the state. 'In-Demand Jobs Week is a great opportunity for us to spread the word about the many good-paying career opportunities and industries that are available throughout Ohio,' Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) Director Matt Damschroder said in a press release. 'Through or the OhioMeansJobs Centers, Ohioans have many resources to help them find their next great opportunity.' According to ODJFS, in-demand jobs are defined by offering a median wage of $21.52 an hour and there are at least 650 annual job openings. Some of the top jobs listed in the state include: Truck Drivers, Heavy and Tractor Trailer Assemblers and Fabricators Construction Laborers Electricians Machinists Software Developers Registered Nurses Aerospace Engineering and Operations Technicians Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technicians Computer Network Support Specialist Plumbers, Pipefitters, and Steamfitters Industrial Machinery Mechanics Sheet Metal Workers Engine and other Machine Assemblers Tool and Die Maker Ohioans interested in finding out more about in-demand careers can visit the Ohio Means Jobs website by clicking here. Adult career center to host open house Tuesday
CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) — It's In-Demand Jobs Week across Ohio. In-Demand jobs week showcases the jobs, industries and skills that are in high demand across the state and in this region. The MCCTC adult career center is holding an open house to let people see what it has to offer. You can tour the school's labs and facilities, plus meet the instructors. The Adult Career Center will showcase its welding, automotive technology, medical assistant, plus EMT and fire programs. You can even learn about a couple new ones. 'Hannah E Mullins School of Practical Nursing is relocating to our campus,' said Jodi Glass, recruiting and marketing coordinator. 'So they will be here to discuss the practical nursing program. And then also we have a new vet assistant. So those that are interested in working with animals: veterinary assistant is now enrolling now for fall.' 144K jobs available in Ohio; Over half pay $50K+
(WKBN) — Are you in the market for a new job? The eighth-annual In-Demand Jobs Week could be your solution. A release from the Ohio Governor's Office announced next week from May 5-9 is In-Demand Jobs Week, a celebration of Ohio's top jobs, industries and skills. A map for events across the state can be found here. The Governor's office says Ohio has added more than 81,000 private sector jobs in the past six years and at least another 15,000 jobs are coming to the state through projects currently in development. 'Whether you are preparing for your first job, exploring a career change, or looking to advance in your field, there are countless opportunities in The Heart of It All,' said Governor Mike DeWine. 'This In-Demand Jobs Week, I encourage schools, businesses, and community organizations to get involved – host a job event in your region to let our workforce of the future know about all of the options at their fingertips in Ohio.' Right now, there are over 144,000 jobs posted on — 92,000 of which pay over $50,000 per year. There are also 2,287 internships available. To ensure the state's workforce is trained and ready to fill these jobs, Governor DeWine announced in his recent State of the State Address that Lt. Governor Tressel would lead the administration's effort to create Ohio's Workforce Playbook. As part of this work, Lt.
