JITO mega blood donation camp in Belagavi on Friday
The Jain International Trade Organisation (JITO) Belgaum Chapter will organise a mega blood donation camp in Belagavi on Friday, as part of Independence Day celebrations.
The event will be held at Mahaveer Bhavan in Hindwadi from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. It is being organised in association with the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FDA) Department, trade bodies and other associations.
Some blood banks, including KLE Blood Bank, BIMS Blood Bank, Mahaveer Blood Bank and Belgaum Blood Bank, will facilitate collection of blood.
As a gesture of gratitude, every blood donor will receive a Personal Accident Policy from The New India Assurance Co. Ltd. with a sum assured of ₹1 lakh valid for one year. The company has agreed to support the camp.
'People need to realise that one unit of blood can save three lives. There is a constant demand for blood across hospitals. All of us need to voluntarily donate blood regularly,' Chairman of JITO Belgaum Chapter Harshavardhan Inchal told reporters in Belagavi on Tuesday.
JITO is a global organization with over 77 chapters across India and more than 32 international chapters, headquartered in Mumbai. It has over 19,000 members worldwide. 'Our objectives are service, knowledge and economic empowerment,' Mr. Inchal said.
The JITO chapter established here 15 years ago has been actively engaged in social work and community contribution since its inception, Mr. Inchal said.
