India emerges as key market for LNG, ranks fourth globally in 2024: TotalEnergies CEO
Paris [France], 2 June (ANI): India is becoming an increasingly important market for liquefied natural gas (LNG) and was ranked number four in the world in 2024, said Patrick Pouyanne, Chairman and CEO of TotalEnergies. He made these remarks during an exclusive conversation with ANI in Paris, France. Pouyanne shared insights into the French energy giant's expanding presence in India, highlighting that TotalEnergies has invested nearly USD 5 billion in the country over the last five years. He said, 'India is becoming an important market for LNG, number four in the world in 2024. So developing this gas for us, finding customers, long-term customers in India is good'. These investments span across gas, natural gas imports, city gas distribution, development of gas infrastructure, as well as renewable energy projects such as solar and wind. 'We have invested almost USD 5 billion in the last five years, in particular in gas, natural gas, importing energy, city gas, development of gas infrastructure in India, as well as renewables. We invest a lot in solar and wind in India,' Pouyanne said. Responding to a question about the progress on the MoU signed during India Energy Week with GSPC (Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation) venture in India, Pouyanne said, 'It's going very well. We have signed some contracts in the last year for providing energy to India. GSPC is one, IOCL is another. These are long-term, 10-year contracts.' He added that the MoU would be converted into a Sales and Purchase Framework (SPF) soon, marking a significant step in strengthening the LNG supply chain to India. He also spoke about his meeting with Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, who encouraged the company to expand its operations further in India. He said, 'We discussed TotalEnergies' investments in so we discussed our plans, what we've done and what we intend to do for the future. And of course, Mr. Goyal encouraged me to do more in India'. The meeting took place in Paris during Goyal's official visit to France, which is part of his ongoing trip to France and Italy from June 1 to 5. Goyal is also scheduled to meet with key French ministers, including Minister of Economy Eric Lombard and Trade Minister Laurent Saint-Martin. People, passion and purpose: Experiential marketing in the age of AI
HighlightsAs India's marketing landscape evolves, brands are realizing that human connection is the ultimate differentiator in a digital economy projected to contribute nearly one-fifth of national income by 2029-30. Experiential marketing is reclaiming its importance as consumers seek authentic and memorable experiences amidst the overwhelming digital noise, with events like ELECRAMA and India Energy Week serving as powerful platforms for storytelling and connection. The integration of sustainability into experiential marketing not only enhances brand visibility and credibility but also fosters meaningful connections, transforming customers into brand ambassadors who advocate for a shared purpose. Not long ago, marketing was about the loudest message and the widest reach. Today, we live in an age where AI can deliver hyper-personalised ads in seconds, and algorithms predict consumer behaviour with uncanny precision. Efficiency has reached unprecedented heights. Yet, amid this digital deluge, one truth is becoming clearer: it is human connection—not automation—that remains the ultimate differentiator. As India's marketing landscape transforms, fuelled by a digital economy projected to grow nearly twice as fast as the overall economy and contribute almost one-fifth of national income by 2029-30, brands face a paradox. AI offers unmatched scale and speed, but consumers, fatigued by the constant barrage of digital messages, crave something deeper: authentic, memorable experiences. And this is where experiential marketing reclaims centre stage—bringing back meaning in an otherwise mechanised world. AI has unquestionably reshaped how we engage with audiences. In India alone, 70% of marketing budgets now flow into digital channels, with tools like AI-driven martech enabling precision targeting and real-time personalisation. At events, AI enhances experiences too—personalised attendee journeys, QR codes unlocking custom demos, and post-event analytics that measure engagement down to the last second. But even as AI sharpens our tactics, it cannot replicate the warmth of a handshake, the energy of a live demonstration, or the trust built through face-to-face conversations. Today's consumers, bombarded by nearly 5,000 ads daily, are tuning out the noise. They are looking for brands that feel human, tangible, and purpose driven. And here, events emerge as powerful catalysts—offering not just interactions but shared moments that build loyalty and inspire trust. Industry gatherings have evolved. No longer defined by booths and banners, they are now immersive platforms for storytelling, collaboration, and connection. Events like ELECRAMA and India Energy Week have become milestones where ideas converge, partnerships form, and brands come alive. By blending AI's precision with human creativity, we are crafting experiences that resonate on both personal and collective levels. Consider the immersive zones that are redefining event spaces today. Powered by AI-driven insights, these zones are designed to speak directly to varied audiences—engineers, policymakers, consumers—ensuring each visitor leaves with a story worth sharing. Real-time demonstrations, driven by IoT and automation, showcase innovations in action, while open forums invite candid, solution-driven dialogue. These aren't mere exhibitions; they are movements that echo India's broader push towards sustainability and innovation. Sustainability, in fact, amplifies the power of experiential marketing. As brands partner with leading events & thought leadership platforms as sustainability champions, they integrate eco-conscious designs—reusable materials, energy-efficient displays, and green practices—into every touchpoint. This is not about optics; it's about walking the talk, inspiring change one meaningful connection at a time. The impact of events stretches well beyond the venue. A thoughtfully executed event builds visibility, credibility, and trust—critical currencies in a world where consumers rank authenticity among their top priorities. Post-event, AI tools analyse feedback, social buzz, and lead conversions, turning fleeting moments into lasting relationships. When people feel part of something larger than themselves, they do more than buy—they advocate. The results speak for themselves. Industry studies show that events drive up to 65% higher brand recall compared to digital campaigns alone. Strategic partnerships—be it with IPL teams or media platforms—further amplify reach, connecting with millions. But the real return lies in building communities. Events nurture dialogue, spark collaboration, and transform customers into brand ambassadors who carry forward your mission. Are events worth the investment? Unequivocally, yes. While they require time and resources, the depth of engagement they deliver is unmatched. AI amplifies this value—optimising audience targeting, personalisation, and ROI measurement—but at the heart of it all remain people, passion, and purpose. As India's electrical and automation landscape accelerates—driven by infrastructure growth and a collective sustainability ambition—events will continue to play a pivotal role. They are not just showcasing innovation; they are platforms where progress is catalysed, partnerships are forged, and visions come to life. Companies that succeed will be those that marry AI's precision with the irreplaceable spark of human connection to create experiences that don't just stand out but ignite real change. In the age of AI, we must not lose sight of the power of presence. Events remind us that behind every data point is a person, and behind every brand is a purpose. The future belongs to those who build connections that matter—for India, for sustainability, and for tomorrow.

Govt plans to operate hydrogen buses in capital city
1 2 Bhubaneswar: In an effort towards sustainable public transportation, state govt is likely to introduce hydrogen-powered buses in the capital city, marking a pioneering step in its commitment to clean energy initiatives. Housing and urban development minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra announced that the department has signed an agreement with a leading green energy company to launch a trial run of hydrogen buses in Bhubaneswar. The initial phase will see three hydrogen-powered buses operating on various routes across the city. "We are starting with three buses in Bhubaneswar as a pilot project. A dedicated depot will be constructed to support the operations," Mahapatra told reporters on Saturday. He said that based on the success of the pilot plan, govt will plan to expand the service to other parts of the state. "The buses will be plying on different routes of the city soon and will provide a sustainable public transport option to riders," Mahapatra said. India's first green hydrogen fuel cell bus was showcased during the inaugural ceremony of India Energy Week, which was held in Goa in Feb last year. Later in Oct, housing and urban affairs minister Hardeep Singh Puri demonstrated the hydrogen bus fleet in New Delhi. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like One of the Most Successful Investors of All Time, Warren Buffett, Recommends: 5 Books for Turning... Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Click Here Undo The introduction of hydrogen buses aligns with Bhubaneswar's existing green public transport infrastructure, which already includes approximately 100 electric buses, including four double-decker e-buses operated by the Capital Region Urban Transport (Crut). A senior official of the housing and urban development department emphasised the initiative's significance in achieving net-zero emission targets. "Implementing clean energy practices in public transport can provide a substantial breakthrough in our environmental goals," the official said. Bhubaneswar's public transport system has witnessed remarkable evolution since 2018, starting with the introduction of Mo Bus, now rebranded as Ama Bus. The network currently serves the tri-city area of Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Puri. Commuters welcomed the Saturday's announcement. "The public transport system in Bhubaneswar has shown impressive improvement over the years. The addition of hydrogen buses could be another milestone in the journey," said Jyoti Dash, a frequent Ama Bus user.

EU abandons plans to ban Russian LNG
EU officials have stepped back from plans to include a ban on Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports in an upcoming sanctions package against Moscow, Reuters reported on Wednesday. The decision, one official told the agency, was driven by internal opposition, uncertainty over replacing the supply, but also concerns that a ban could weaken the EU's negotiating power with the US. The 17th package is part of broader efforts by the EU to pressure Russia over the Ukraine conflict. Sanctioning Russian LNG now could strip the bloc of a key bargaining chip in ongoing trade talks with Washington, an unnamed EU official told Reuters. The European Commission is reportedly seeking to use energy imports, including LNG, as leverage to persuade the US to lift tariffs on EU goods. US President Donald Trump has repeatedly urged the EU to increase purchases of American gas. Some EU officials see this as an opportunity to negotiate the rollback of 25% tariffs on EU steel and aluminum, reinstated in February. Enforcement of the tariffs was delayed by a 90-day pause to allow time for negotiations. Last week, EU Trade Commissioner Maros Sefcovic met with US officials in Washington for initial talks. The commission described the meeting as a 'scoping exercise' and said the US must still clarify its demands. The idea of banning Russian LNG was previously floated during talks on the EU's 16th sanctions package, adopted in February 2025, but was dropped following discussions in January due to reported opposition from member states. Read more 'Stop blackmailing' – China to US Some countries, including France, Spain, and Belgium, continue to import significant volumes of Russian LNG, accounting for 85% of Europe's Russian LNG imports, according to the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA). While pipeline gas imports from Russia have declined since 2022, the EU's imports of Russian LNG have increased. In 2024, Russia accounted for 17.5% of the bloc's LNG supply, making it the second-largest source after the US, which held a 45.3% share. The European Commission is currently drafting a roadmap to end dependence on Russian energy by 2027, with the plan expected in early May. In February, Russia's first deputy energy minister, Pavel Sorokin, told RT during India Energy Week in New Delhi that the country is ramping up its LNG production and exports despite international sanctions. He said Russia could boost LNG shipments to India, noting the 'competitive pricing' and stressing that Moscow will continue to trade with its partners despite growing pressure from the US and its allies.
