Coast Guard District No.4 gets new commander

Kochi: Deputy inspector general Ashish Mehrotra assumed duties of Commander, Indian Coast Guard District No.4 (Kerala and Mahe) from outgoing District Commander DIG N Ravi on Monday. The officer had the distinction of holding important Command and Staff appointments, both afloat and ashore. In his previous appointment, he commanded Fast Patrol Vessel (FPV) ICGS Lakshmi Bai, Advanced Offshore Patrol Vessel (AOPV) ICGS Sangram and Coast Guard Workup Team (East). The Officer graduated in electronics from Lucknow University and holds to his credit a master's degree in nautical science from Navigation and Direction School of Indian Navy. He joined Coast Guard service on Jan 5, 1998. The officer is an alumnus of National Defence College, New Delhi (63 NDC). His important appointments include Navigating Officer of Western Fleet ship INS Udayagiri as the first Indian Coast Guard deputationist, secondment to the Information Sharing Centre of Regional Cooperation Agreement on Combating Piracy and Armed Robbery against Ships in Asia (ReCAAP-ISC, Singapore) as manager (research) and CG adviser to director general of Indian Coast Guard, New Delhi.

DIG Ashish Mehrotra is new Commander of Coast Guard District No.4 (Kerala and Mahe)

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ashish Mehrotra assumed the duties of Commander, Indian Coast Guard District No.4 (Kerala and Mahe) on Monday (April 28), taking over from the outgoing District Commander, DIG N. Ravi. The new ICG Commander for the region graduated in electronics from Lucknow University and holds a Master's degree in Nautical Science from the Navigation and Direction School of the Indian Navy. He joined the Indian Coast Guard service in 1998. An alumnus of the National Defence College, New Delhi, he has commanded many ICG ships and the Coast Guard Workup Team (East). His important appointments include serving as Navigating Officer of the Western Fleet ship INSUdayagiri as the first Indian Coast Guard deputationist, secondment to the Information Sharing Centre of the Regional Cooperation Agreement on Combating Piracy and Armed Robbery against Ships in Asia as Manager (Research), and advisor to the Director General of the Indian Coast Guard. He is also a recipient of the DG ICG 'Sword of Honour' for overall performance during training courses.
