Agencies The Consulate General of India in Houston has announced the launch of a new Indian Consular Application Centre (ICAC) in Dallas, Texas, bringing essential consular services closer to thousands of Indian-origin residents in the Dallas-Fort Worth region. The new centre, located at 8360 Lyndon B Johnson Freeway, Suite A-230, was virtually inaugurated by India's Ambassador to the United States Vinay Kwatra. Indian Embassy holds Open House; announces 79th Independence Day flag-hoisting
The Indian Embassy in Bahrain held an Open House yesterday, chaired by Ambassador H.E. Mr. Vinod Kurian Jacob, with the participation of the Embassy's Community Welfare and Consular teams, as well as panel lawyers. Over 40 Indian nationals attended the session, which was conducted in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Malayalam. During the event, the Ambassador announced that all consular services — including passport, visa, attestation, and other miscellaneous services — will now be available at the newly inaugurated Indian Consular Application Centre (ICAC) located in Bahrain Mall. He added that a nominal service charge of 180 fils would apply in addition to the Government of India fee, and that facilitation services such as form filling, photocopying, photography, SMS alerts, and courier delivery would be offered free of cost. In a gesture of community support, the Embassy recently facilitated the repatriation of a stretcher-bound patient and extended assistance to a stranded family of four by arranging air tickets and travel documents. Several distressed nationals were also provided with temporary boarding and lodging through the Indian Community Welfare Fund (ICWF). The Ambassador also invited members of the Indian community to attend the 79th Independence Day flag-hoisting ceremony at the Embassy premises on 15 August 2025. He extended his thanks to Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam for supporting the Embassy's yoga programme, which runs twice weekly at their venue. The Ambassador expressed gratitude to Bahraini authorities — particularly the Ministry of Labour, LMRA and Immigration — for their swift responses on consular and welfare matters. He also acknowledged the contributions of the Embassy's legal panel, Indian community organisations, and volunteers for their dedication to supporting distressed members of the diaspora. Most issues raised at the previous Open House have been resolved, while pending matters from this session will be followed up promptly, officials confirmed.
