Mahindra pats ex-LMC boss for swachh Lucknow
Lucknow: Chairman of the Mahindra Group, Anand Mahindra acknowledged the efforts of former municipal commissioner Inderjit Singh for significantly improving Lucknow's performance in Swachh Bharat rankings. Mahindra posted on X, recognising Singh's efforts. He wrote, "The city of Lucknow has always had a formidable reputation for its culture and cuisine. However, cleanliness was never part of its claim to fame. Concerns included lack of dustbins, public spitting and scattering of waste during festivals. I have a special place in my heart for the city since it is where my mother grew up and became a teacher at IT College before moving to Mumbai. So, to hear about Lucknow becoming the third-ranked city in the Swachh Survekshan came as a very pleasant surprise, to put it mildly! He further wrote: "Behind this transformation is IAS Indrajeet Singh, whose efforts are described in the video. It proves that when your purpose is clear and you have a sense of mission, no bureaucracy is insurmountable, no change is impossible, including of mindsets. For being an agent of transformational change, Indrajeet Singh is my #MondayMotivation."

Agra cops don't file Pocso case, booked
Representative image AGRA: Following a court order, an FIR was filed against Agra's Kheragarh SHO Indrajeet Singh and sub-inspectors Ibrahim Khan and Harendra Singh for not registering an alleged case of rape of a 16-year-old girl and attempted rape of her 13-year-old younger sister under the Pocso Act earlier this year. These police officers also allegedly kept the older survivor under illegal detention for 36 hours at the police station without telling her family about it. The FIR lodged at Kheragarh police station on Friday also named the two main accused in the rape case, Arbaz Ali and Aleem Ali (who are siblings), their father, Saleem Ali, and two unidentified men. 'The police officers have been charged under sections of Pocso Act as they kept a minor girl under illegal detention after rescuing her from Rajasthan's Dholpur. They did not present her before the Child Welfare Committee within 24 hours, which was a violation of the Pocso Act. Besides, they allowed the rape survivor to take bath, thereby destroying crucial forensic evidence,' Chandra said. DCP (West) Atul Sharma said, 'To ensure a fair and independent probe, an officer from another police station is conducting the investigation.' Asked why no punitive action has been taken, DCP Sharma said, 'Only a case has been filed, nothing has been proved against them. We need to wait for the inquiry report. Action will be taken accordingly.'

Agra court orders FIR against 3 cops for negligence in minors' kidnap case, police call abduction ‘fake'
The court was moved by the father of the girls, who alleged that the police officers were negligent in registering his complaint and deliberately tried to save the accused. Agra: A special court dealing with the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act in Agra has ordered an FIR against three policemen, including the Kheragarh station house officer (SHO), for negligence and dereliction of duty in an alleged kidnapping-cum-sexual abuse case, involving two minor sisters. According to the court order, seen by ThePrint, the father has alleged that both his daughters were kidnapped on 5 February, and the younger one escaped and informed him. But the police did not register an FIR in time, despite his complaint. He alleged that the older girl was raped, while the act was attempted on the younger one. Taking note of the allegations, the court Thursday ordered that an FIR be registered against Kheragarh SHO Indrajeet Singh, and sub-inspectors Ibrahim Khan and Harendra Singh. It also instructed that a case be registered against three named and two unnamed persons for kidnapping and rape. However, Kheragarh Assistant Commissioner of Police Imran Ahmed told ThePrint, 'This is a fake matter reported by the girls' father. When he first reported the kidnapping of his elder daughter at the police station, an FIR was registered and the girl was recovered. In her statement to the police, the girl said she had left her house on her own will because her parents were forcefully arranging her marriage. Based on her statement, the police filed a final report in the case.' He added that a few days later, the girls' father came to the police station again, claiming that his younger daughter had also been kidnapped and raped. 'Initial investigation by the police revealed that this complaint was being registered in a malicious manner in an attempt to implicate some people. The SHO, therefore, refused to file a second FIR. After this, the father took orders from the court.' No arrests have been made in the case so far. ‘Didn't discharge duties as public servant': Court orders case against SHO, 2 SIs for negligence
Agra: A court in Agra has directed police commissioner Deepak Kumar to register a case against Kheragarh SHO inspector Indrajeet Singh and two sub-inspectors - Ibrahim Khan and Harendra Singh - for "gross negligence and failing to discharge duties as public servants", in a case concerning the rape of a minor and attempted rape of her younger sister earlier this year. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Kumar was also asked to report back to the court on "subsequent action taken". Special Pocso judge Sonika Chaudhary, in a six-page order, also criticised an assistant commissioner of police (ACP) for "copy- pasting the SHO's report in the investigation papers and not even bothering to change the dates (in their report)." The judge added that the ACP "just did a formality in the name of conducting an investigation in the case and their inaction undermined the judicial process." The court's order, issued on Thursday evening, followed a complaint from the girls' father. He alleged that SHO Kheragarh did not file charges of sexual assault and related sections after his elder daughter (16) was raped and the accused attempted to sexually assault his younger daughter (13). The accused were identified as Arbaz Ali and Aleem Ali (brothers) along with two unknown persons. According to the complaint, the crime took place on Feb 3, when the sisters left home to go to the market around 9am. When they did not return, the family searched unsuccessfully. Two days later, the younger daughter was found near the Kheragarh-Kagaraul crossing, in a distressed state. She stated that they were kidnapped by four men and violated. The father claimed that when he approached police in Kheragarh with his younger daughter to file a report on Feb 5, the cops refused to register a case. On Feb 6, SHO Indrajeet Singh informed him that his elder daughter had been found in Rajasthan's Dholpur district. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now She was found the same day but not immediately handed to the family, and purportedly remained in police custody for nearly 36 hours. The complainant stated that a case was registered under sections 137 (1) (kidnapping) and 87 (1) (kidnapping, abducting, or inducing a woman to compel her to marriage or illicit intercourse) on Feb 7, only after he reached out to the then-Agra police commissioner. Sections under the Pocso Act, however, were not included. The family's lawyer, Ramesh Chandra, said, "When the elder girl was found, the police made her take a bath which led to crucial evidence being lost. Also, her clothes were not handled properly for forensic analysis." Police commissioner Deepak Kumar told TOI on Friday: "I'm yet to receive the order... We'll comply with the directions. I'll ask DCP West Atul Sharma to relook into the case. Action will be taken as per the report findings."
