Auburn named a finalist for top-five 2026 defensive lineman
Auburn named a finalist for top-five 2026 defensive lineman Auburn remains heavily involved in the recruitment of No. 4 defensive lineman Nolan Wilson, following the reveal of his top-five schools. Auburn football has had recent success in recruiting quality defensive linemen such as Malik Autry, Jourdin Crawford, Malik Blocton, and Keldric Faulk. Auburn is now in the mix to secure another one in the 2026 recruiting cycle following a top-five reveal. Nolan Wilson, a four-star defensive lineman from Picayune, Mississippi, dropped his top-five schools this week, which included the Auburn Tigers. Auburn remains a heavy threat in Wilson's recruitment, joining Ole Miss, Florida, Miami, and Alabama. 'I was able to narrow it down based off of the relationships that I have with the coaches, the like I have for the school and how they said that they would develop me and use me,' Wilson said in a recent interview with On3. Relationships are a key driver in Wilson's recruitment, and Auburn has two excellent tools to support this area. Auburn defensive line coach Vontrell King-Williams has been a force in Auburn's recruitment recently, and it helps that Hugh Freeze landed one of Wilson's high school teammates during the 2024 cycle. 'The relationship that I have with Coach Vontrell King-Williams, my former teammate Jamonta Waller, the atmosphere of the Auburn games, and how they said they'd use me as well," Waller said of Auburn and the relationships he has built within the program. The four-star defensive lineman has not set a commitment date yet, but will begin his official visit tour next week at Alabama. He will visit Auburn during the weekend of June 6 before rounding out June with visits to Ole Miss and Miami. Wilson is the No. 4 defensive lineman from the 2026 cycle according to On3's Industry Ranking, and is a top-five overall recruit from Mississippi by every major recruiting outlet. Auburn in a tight race with North Carolina for three-star QB Travis Burgess
Auburn in a tight race with North Carolina for three-star QB Travis Burgess Three-star QB Travis Burgess is closing in on a commitment date. Will Auburn emerge as the top choice? Auburn football is in a prime position to land a state champion quarterback from the talent-rich state of Georgia. Travis Burgess, a three-star quarterback from Grayson High School in Loganville, Georgia, tells On3's Chad Simmons that Auburn and North Carolina are the two programs he is focused on ahead of his spring commitment date. Grayson will begin its spring practice session on Thursday, May 1, and Burgess will look to decide quickly after it ends on Friday, May 16. Auburn has been high on Burgess' list since the beginning of the calendar year when he visited for junior day in January. He has made several visits to the Plains since, most recently during Auburn's spring practice session ahead of A-Day. Burgess still thinks highly of Auburn due to the relationships built with several Auburn assistants. 'Auburn is close to home, the players are great and after my first visit, the connections have been strong," Burgess said in an interview with On3. "Coach Kenyatta Watson, coach (Kent) Austin and coach (Jesse) Stone are great people and great coaches. My connections there are strong. The whole environment sticks out to me at Auburn around the coaches and the players. They are working to build the program back up. Coach Hugh Freeze is getting players in there to compete to bring the program back up.' Auburn is in a great spot, but it must fight off legendary ex-New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick for his signature. How close is the race? "It is about 50-50 between those two right now," Burgess said of the race between Auburn and North Carolina. Burgess is a 6-foot-5, 184-pound quarterback from Grayson High School in Loganville, Georgia. He is a consensus three-star recruit according to every major recruiting outlet, and is the No. 25 quarterback from the 2026 class by On3's Industry Ranking. Social media reacts to Clemson landing 4-star wide receiver Gordon Sellars
Social media reacts to Clemson landing 4-star wide receiver Gordon Sellars Clemson's 2026 recruiting class just got another boost with the addition of a top offensive target. Four-star wide receiver Gordon Sellars out of Providence Day School (Charlotte, NC) gave his verbal pledge to the Tigers on Friday during an emotional ceremony at his high school. He chose Clemson over a list of finalists that included South Carolina, Georgia, Michigan, and North Carolina A&T. Sellars has been a top Clemson target since the Tigers offered him last September during an unofficial visit. He returned for the rivalry game against South Carolina, took part in the Elite Retreat last month, and was back in town again for the spring game two weeks ago. Other spring visits included trips to Ohio State, Michigan, and South Carolina, along with a stop at Notre Dame on Tuesday after the Irish extended an offer last week. Recruiting services are high on the 6-foot-2 wideout. ESPN gives him his highest mark, ranking him No. 144 overall and No. 25 at his position. He's also the No. 9 player in North Carolina. The 247Sports Composite ranks Sellars as the No. 207 national prospect and No. 31 wide receiver, while On3's Industry Ranking puts him at No. 227 overall. Sellars is the 14th commitment in Clemson's 2026 class, which continues to sit comfortably inside the Top 5 nationally. He's the third wide receiver in the group, joining fellow four-stars Naeem Burroughs and Connor Salmin, who both committed during the Elite Retreat weekend. Sellars is expected to be the final wideout take in this cycle.
