Social media reacts to Clemson landing 4-star wide receiver Gordon Sellars
Clemson's 2026 recruiting class just got another boost with the addition of a top offensive target.
Four-star wide receiver Gordon Sellars out of Providence Day School (Charlotte, NC) gave his verbal pledge to the Tigers on Friday during an emotional ceremony at his high school. He chose Clemson over a list of finalists that included South Carolina, Georgia, Michigan, and North Carolina A&T.
Sellars has been a top Clemson target since the Tigers offered him last September during an unofficial visit. He returned for the rivalry game against South Carolina, took part in the Elite Retreat last month, and was back in town again for the spring game two weeks ago. Other spring visits included trips to Ohio State, Michigan, and South Carolina, along with a stop at Notre Dame on Tuesday after the Irish extended an offer last week.
Recruiting services are high on the 6-foot-2 wideout. ESPN gives him his highest mark, ranking him No. 144 overall and No. 25 at his position. He's also the No. 9 player in North Carolina. The 247Sports Composite ranks Sellars as the No. 207 national prospect and No. 31 wide receiver, while On3's Industry Ranking puts him at No. 227 overall.
Sellars is the 14th commitment in Clemson's 2026 class, which continues to sit comfortably inside the Top 5 nationally. He's the third wide receiver in the group, joining fellow four-stars Naeem Burroughs and Connor Salmin, who both committed during the Elite Retreat weekend. Sellars is expected to be the final wideout take in this cycle.

LSU football's Brian Kelly says five-star freshman is pushing to start at right tackle
With less than two weeks to go before LSU football kicks off the 2025 season at Clemson, the Tigers are still shuffling their offensive line. Some positions are set. Tyree Adams will start at left tackle, and Virginia Tech transfer Braelin Moore will start at center. Everything else is up for grabs. At right tackle, the battle is heating up. Weston Davis was LSU's clear first-team right tackle for most of the offseason, but true freshman Carius Curne is beginning to push Davis. Curne has taken reps all over the offensive line this summer. In recent days, Curne has seen his workload at right tackle increase. Kelly said the move was about creating more competition. "I think there's still a battle for that next tackle position, which would be the right tackle. So we moved Carius over there to compete with Weston (Davis) to see who's our best," Kelly said. Kelly said LSU likes the progress of right tackle Ory Williams, but it wasn't enough to push Davis just yet. With Curne at right tackle, LSU has two SEC-ready players competing. Competition has been a theme of the offseason for LSU as Kelly finally feels the team has enough depth to create a competitive atmosphere. LSU isn't afraid to play true freshmen on the offensive line. Curne has the talent and physical tools to play right away. Per On3, he was a five-star and the No. 2-ranked interior offensive lineman in the class of 2025. LSU's offensive line has produced mixed results in training camp, but Kelly still feels good about the unit.

New York Giants double-down on former Notre Dame WR chances to earn a role with the team
When we last checked in on former Notre Dame and current New York Giants wide receivers Beaux Collins, the reports pointed out that he could start if Malik Nabers wasn't healthy enough to go. Well, a lot has changed since then, after the Clemson transfer had an 80-yard reception in Saturday's preseason victory against the New York Jets. While Nabers did return to the practice field on Tuesday, but it's unsure if he's going to be ready for the season opener. Following practice, Giants wide receivers coach Mike Groh was asked about Collins, and he was very complimentary of their undrafted free agent signing. 'I think Beaux's done a good job. He's done a good job since he's got in here. He's very bright, and he's got a skill set good length, height, good speed, ball skills,' said his coach. It's looking more and more like Collins is going to make the team, and not only that, have a role within the offense. It's great to see the former Notre Dame receiver overcoming not getting drafted and having success in the NFL. Notre Dame social media reacts to CJ Carr being named the starting quarterback
On Tuesday, Notre Dame football announced who will start the season opening game against Miami, redshirt-freshman CJ Carr. The Michigan native beat out Kenny Minchey for the role, as the two battle through the spring until head coach Marcus Freeman had made a decision. He did say on Sunday that he would take into consideration who offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock and quarterback coach Gino Guidugli thought best fit the offense. At the end of the day Carr was the choice, and while many didn't see it coming due to reports that Minchey looked better during camp, the Irish went with the younger option. There was no doubt that social media was going to react to the news, and here are some of the best comments shared by insiders and fans. A bit surprising The competition was fierce, and while it didn't seem like Carr would be the choice at times, he eventually was. It's a bit premature to suggest that Minchey would leave, especially since anything could happen during the season. Talia Baia has been all over training camp, so she would know it was a bit surprising. JaDon Blair's father gives Minchey helpful advice It's a family in South Bend, and that extends to the players families as well. Blair surely knows Minchey put his all into trying to win the starting job, and the elder Blair gives him some great advice. There's no need to get down on yourself, just get ready for the next opportunity. Not a Michigan man As The Athletic's Vannini points out, Carr is a Michigan legacy who didn't follow his grandfather to Ann Arbor. He would have had a shot to start there was well, since it looks like they'll be turning the offense to a true freshman. The Wolverines loss was clearly Notre Dame's gain, which stokes the rivalry fire a bit more. Is this the appropriate meme? I'm a big fan of Pickell, but I'm not sure this is such a crazy decision. Both quarterback had pro's and con's, but going with Carr's immense upside makes plenty of sense. There's schedule is manageable, and there's plenty of time for him to get acclimated to this level. However, if Pickell is saying this could be fun, then let's go. Great work on the graphic The graphic of the day, besides the actually announcement of course. Upside in Carr It very much seemed like Freeman didn't want to play it safe, and went with upside in Carr. While Minchey still has all the traits you are looking for in a quarterback, in my eyes, the new starter has a certain flare about his game that elevates the players around him. That's something you just can't teach. And throws like that. Minchey had a legit shot While many thought that it was Carr's job to lose, Minchey sure didn't let that get in his way of impressive many people during the competition. I also believe that the coaching staff gave him a legit chance at winning the job, and he almost did it. There was only going to be one starter, the other disappointed, who needs to continue to stay ready.
