Gang targeted high-end cars in Noida, 3 held
Noida: Three men, including a criminal with a Rs 50,000 bounty, were arrested for allegedly stealing high-end cars in Delhi-NCR. The arrests came following a brief shootout during a late-night check near Parthala on Wednesday. DCP (Noida) Yamuna Prasad said the driver did not stop the car and instead fired at the cops. "The car drove towards the floodplain area. As cops returned fire, one of the three occupants of the car was injured," the DCP said. Farman alias Chhote of Meerut, who sustained gunshot injuries, and his two associates were arrested during a combing operation later that night. Police recovered three stolen cars—Innova Crysta, Kia Seltos and Creta—worth around Rs 1 crore, and the Swift used in the crimes from their possession. "The accused used the Swift for recce. Apart from this, one country-made pistol, along with cartridges, was recovered from them. A toolkit for breaking car locks (tab with connecting wire), along with other equipment such as hammers and glass shields to help them steal cars, were recovered from them," SHO Sector 113 Krishna Gopal said. According to cops, Farman has over 30 cases registered against him. "During interrogation, the accused revealed that they used to carry out recce for high-end cars parked on roadsides and at hotels. They would break the driver's side window, hack the car's system through a tablet, make duplicate keys (virtual) on the spot, and steal the car within 4 to 5 minutes. They would then park the car at a deserted place and replace the broken window and number plate of the car to avoid arrest," the DCP said. The accused have been arrested under BNS sections 109 (attempt to murder), 317(4) (stolen property), 345(3) (property mark), and 3(5) (joint criminal liability) and sections of the Arms Act.

Key accused in ₹4,215-crore Falcon scam nabbed in Hyderabad; luxury cars seized
The Telangana Crime Investigation Department (CID) has arrested Sandeep Kumar, one of the masterminds behind the Falcon invoice discounting scam, along with his accomplice, Ravi Kumar. The arrest took place in Hyderabad on Tuesday, in a case that spans multiple states and involves thousands of duped investors. Seized during the arrests were three luxury cars — a Mercedes GLS 400D, a Range Rover Velar, and an Innova Crysta — valued at ₹2.5 crore, along with 14 property documents worth ₹10 crore, mobile phones, cash and ID cards. Sandeep Kumar, operations head of Capital Protection Force Pvt. Ltd. and younger brother of company MD Amardeep Kumar, had been absconding after fleeing to Dubai. According to the CID, he illegally re-entered India via the Nepal border and moved across Bihar, Odisha, Goa and finally back to Hyderabad, where he was sheltered by his cousin, Ravi Kumar. Director of CID, Shikha Goel said the scam, operated through the Falcon Invoice Discounting app ( lured depositors with fake short-term investment deals purportedly linked to reputed multinational companies. Over ₹4,215 crore was collected from more than 7,000 individuals. Initial estimates suggest around ₹792 crore was siphoned from over 4,000 victims. The CID has, so far, registered three primary cases under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Telangana Protection of Depositors of Financial Establishments Act. Eight more cases are pending across six States including Karnataka, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh and Delhi. 'Sandeep Kumar diverted ₹845 crore into personal and associated company accounts. Toyota records 22% YoY growth in May 2025, 30,864 units sold
Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) reported a robust 22% year-on-year sales growth in May 2025, selling 30,864 units compared to 25,273 units in May 2024. The company's performance included 29,280 domestic units and 1,584 export sales for the first two months of FY 2025–26 (April–May) reached 58,188 units, reflecting a 27% increase over the 45,767 units sold in the same period of FY 2024–25. Varinder Wadhwa, Vice President of Sales-Service-Used Car Business at TKM, attributed the growth to strong customer trust and a favourable market outlook. 'In May, we achieved a growth of 22%, a testament to the enduring trust and support of our valued customers,' Wadhwa said. Two held for defrauding 1,375 people in car-rental scam
MUMBAI: Two men have been arrested for cheating 1,375 people of ₹20.60 crore by promising them an income of ₹55,000 to ₹75,000 per month if they became part of a car-rental business. The arrests were made by the Kashimira police in Mira Road on April 29, in Mira Road and Dapoli in Ratnagiri. Police have seized 246 cars valued at around ₹25 crore from the accused, identified as Sandeep Kandalkar aka Raju Rajiv Joshi and Sachin Tetagure, both residents of Dapoli in Rantagiri district. Kandalkar, who has been booked in 13 fraud cases, would tempt people to invest in the supposed rental car business, by telling them this was a pick-up and drop service from the airport and ports such as the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority. The individuals were told they would earn ₹55,000 to ₹75,000 per month if they either invested in the business or rented their own cars for the pick-up and drop service. The accused also used the money they collected to buy expensive cars and SUVs. 'The accused thus collected a total of ₹20.60 crore from 1,375 people,' said a police officer. To gain the confidence of their victims, the scamsters initially deposited the promised sums into their bank accounts but soon started to default on the payments. The police officer said 246 vehicles have been seized from Mumbai and surrounding areas based on information provided by the two arrested accused. The seized vehicles include cars such as the Innova Crysta, Maruti Brezza, Bolero Pickup, Kia Creta, Maruti Ertiga and Mahindra Thar. Police have also identified some associates of the arrested accused. They are Divyata Mhatre (26) and Rohan Mhatre (35), both residents of Mira Road; Pravin Telang (44), a Bhayander resident; Vaishali Dhuri (47) from Charkop in Mumbai; Nilesh Shinde (38), a resident of Mantuga East; and Babu Maruti Awad (49), a resident of Navi Mumbai. Police said the accused have been charged with cheating and breach of trust under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and additionally for being members of an organised crime syndicate, as the investigation revealed that financial fraud had been committed over a long period of time, said Madhukar Pandey, commissioner of police, Mira Bhayander-Vasai Virar police.
