Shaun T's Pride guide to physical and mental fitness

Long before fitness influencers pervaded social media feeds, Shaun T was a staple of living rooms across the country with home-workout programs like Hip Hop Abs, T25, and Insanity on DVD. The trainer was there to guide viewers to fitter bodies with explosive push-ups, endless burpees, and lots of sweat pouring. Shaun TCourtesy Shaun T Today, Shaun T remains at the top of the fitness game by stressing not just exterior transformation; he's long been a believer that true health starts from within. For him, mental and physical health aren't separate journeys. They're one and the same. Now Shaun T is gearing up to launch the second season of his podcast T Is for Transformation, where he digs deep into what it really means to evolve. It's not just about reps and routines — it's about resilience, healing, and showing up mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Because, as Shaun T tells it, a grounded mind can push a person farther than any gym session ever could. Ahead, Shaun T drops some real gems on how queer folks can approach summer with a healthier mindset — one rooted in confidence, not comparison. He also shares how being a husband and father has changed his wellness journey. Shaun TCourtesy Shaun T What's a 'summer body' myth you think the queer community needs to finally bury? The biggest myth is that just because someone's ripped, that automatically makes them desirable. My husband Scott and I could be walking on the beach, and I'd be checking out the thickest person around. Scott? He likes a man with muscles. But here's the truth: I don't judge people for not looking like me. I actually judge people for trying to be something they're not confident in. Confidence looks better than any six-pack ever will. A lot of people with the so-called perfect body are still deeply unhappy. Not everyone wants to be ripped, and not everyone should be. I want you to be healthy — and that starts with feeling confident in who you are. How do you separate fitness from performative queerness — especially in a culture that often equates 'hotness' with worth? You've got to find a balance that works for you. If your fitness journey starts feeling like a second job — like you're constantly trying to look like someone else or maintain a look to keep someone interested — that's a red flag. That's not sustainable or healthy. People are way more attracted to confidence than they are to muscles. So just show up, eat healthy, move your body, and most importantly, be you. Shaun TTOM IVICEVIC What's one toxic gym culture norm that you wish more queer people would stop accepting as normal? That no one talks to each other! Listen, when I go to the gym, I live my best life. Even at new gyms, I say hi to people, cheer them on. I love seeing people grinding and pushing through. We need more of that energy. Yes, sometimes you want your headphones on and to stay in your zone — I get that. But y'all are already cruising, so you might as well say what's up! I'll compliment men and women if I see them killing it. Sometimes people look at me weird — until they realize who I am. My challenge to y'all: Say something to three people at your gym. Open up the vibe. Not everyone's trying to hook up with you, and you shouldn't be trying to hook up with everyone either. Stop being fast! What's your definition of a fit queer life — not body-wise, but soul-wise?Conquer your mind, transform your life. Mental fitness is the leader of all fitness. Shaun TIAN SPANIER What is something that your husband taught you, and vice versa? My husband has taught me to calm down. We are polar opposites. When I first met him, and this is no shade to people who are like him, but he was in Levi['s] jeans that was ripped up, wearing ASICS and cardigans, you know. [Laughs] He's like, I don't care what I look like. So I was able to teach him how to spend money, and even though he was a model, he just didn't have really high self-esteem. He would say how he wasn't sexy or hot, so I stepped in and felt we needed to change that. So I was able to bring my craziness and my like vivacious and like zero-fucks attitude to our relationship with him. He was able to calm me down because when I met him, I was still in my trauma state. Just by him being himself, being really patient, being an incredible listener…I became even better because of him. I definitely feel like it's about listening and learning and responding to what it is that's going to be better for you. When did you first feel safe in love with your husband — and how did your body respond to that emotional shift?I fell in love with him in seconds — I met him on a street corner on an app called Manhunt. It was a hookup. Then I felt feelings for him, and I found out two weeks later it was the same on his end too. I was like, there's no way this person's not going to be in my life. There's definitely been 15 years of growth. We've never had that moment of us not being together. We're a team, and he's my best friend. Shaun T (right) and husband Scott BlokkerCourtesy Shaun T Was there a hard moment or potential argument that actually brought you closer? He was in a closet for so long. He's a professional soccer player who used to date girls because it was cool — he wasn't out to his family or his job, so he kind of trained his brain to have conversations in his head to fix things before they happen: I'm going to do my thing over here, but I'm going to make sure no one knows I'm over doing this over here. I'm like, 'You're making decisions and having these conversations in your head, and you're not including me. And then you get really upset when I tell you you're not communicating.' ... The argument actually helped me be even more compassionate. I like seeing him every day, but I didn't acknowledge the growth that he had. What's one nonnegotiable that keeps your marriage strong, even on the hardest days?We don't keep secrets –if anyone keeps a secret, it's bad because we just have prided ourselves on our complete foundation, even with our children. Like, they can tell us anything. Shaun T (far right) with husband Scott Blokker and their two childrenCourtesy Shaun T 'The biggest barrier to becoming successful is sometimes you' is something you said on your platform. Is there a barrier that you're still working through?I didn't know my father — I left my house at 14, so I'm just trying to make sure I don't overcompensate for the lack of what I had. I'm very intentional about how I talk to my kids. Not smothering them but loving them. I had a really, really, really rough childhood — it's a part of who I am, and I need to learn how to maneuver the triggers that come up. Yesterday, even in therapy, I had to do, like, some exercise that made me work around the thought processes that I was having that were negative thoughts and bring my past life and experience into how I want to respond to an emotion where they're not experiencing the same thing that I was experiencing. I just want to be a really great dad. Is there one soft skill you're teaching your kids that you wish you learned as a child?I always let my kids know they can cry as long as they ask themselves why — I want them to process what emotion they are associating with their tears. I want them to have very high emotional intelligence, and I believe it's happening because we're letting them express themselves. Release Date: May 14, 2025 For the complete transcript of the earnings call, please refer to the full earnings call transcript. The Beachbody Co Inc (NYSE:BODI) achieved its sixth consecutive quarter of positive adjusted EBITDA, with $3.7 million in Q1 2025. The company successfully reduced its cash breakeven level from over $900 million in 2022 to just under $225 million in 2025. A new $25 million loan facility with Tiger Finance was secured, allowing for the early retirement of previous debt and providing additional capital. The transition from an MLM model to a multi-channel approach, including direct-to-consumer and retail distribution, is expected to enhance growth opportunities. The company is launching new retail initiatives with well-known brands like Shakeology, P90X, and Insanity, aiming to expand its market reach. Total revenues declined 39.7% year over year, impacted by the transition from the MLM model. Digital subscriber count decreased by 16.6% year over year, affecting digital revenue. Nutrition revenue fell 48.4% year over year, with a significant decline in nutrition subscriptions. The affiliate platform has not yet met expectations, requiring further simplification to increase participation. The company is phasing out its connected fitness equipment, such as bikes, which may limit future revenue streams from hardware sales. Q: Can you provide any color on the retention or transition of sellers from the old MLM model to the new direct affiliate model? Is it performing in line with initial expectations? A: Carl Daikeler, CEO: We are pleased with some strong affiliates, but overall, the platform is more institutional than we hoped. We plan to transition to a more user-friendly model in mid-June, which will allow more subscribers to become affiliates. While the current program is productive, we expect growth in the coming quarters with the new platform. Q: How should we think about selling and marketing going forward, and how is management balancing reinvesting savings from the business model change into marketing and brand building? A: Brad Ramberg, Interim CFO: With the new business model, selling and marketing expenses as a percentage of revenue have changed. We will continue to reinvest cash generated into selling and marketing to maximize gross profit dollars, focusing on the relationship between lifetime value and customer acquisition. Q: Can you expand on the changes being made to the affiliate platform and the plan to attract more affiliates? A: Carl Daikeler, CEO: We are partnering with Social Ladder to create a more user-friendly platform that integrates a community for subscribers and an affiliate program within our ecosystem. This approach simplifies the process for affiliates, making it easier for them to promote our programs and earn credit. Q: How are you planning to approach pricing for your nutrition business, especially with the upcoming retail launch? A: Mark Goldston, Executive Chairman: We are focusing more on one-time purchases to bring new people into the franchise, which may lower overall gross margins but increase gross profit. Retail and wholesale margins will differ from direct-to-consumer, but the goal is to drive unit sales and gross profit. Q: Can you provide details on the new credit facility, such as interest rate or covenants, and clarify expectations for growth by the end of 2026? A: Mark Goldston, Executive Chairman: The new loan with Tiger Finance has an interest rate of SOFR plus 9%, resulting in a lower overall cost compared to the previous loan. We expect growth from higher affiliate productivity and the retail initiative, but are not providing specific numerical guidance. TOM PARKER BOWLES: I tried America's famous Philly cheesesteak for the first time – is it worth the hype?

As names go, Passyunk Avenue doesn't exactly roll off the tongue. But then this small but ever-growing chain of Philadelphia-accented restaurants doesn't seem overly concerned with the niceties of phonetics, concentrating instead on serving up a Philly cheesesteak sandwich that could stand proud in the city of brotherly love. Named after the street in which this iconic snack was born (created, they say, in 1930, by Pat Olivieri, whose hot-dog stand has since evolved into the world-famous Pat's King of Steaks), Passyunk Avenue's latest opening is in Kensington Church Street, West London. Which sure is a long way from the mean streets of Philadelphia. But as with any sports bar worth its American mustard, this jawn (a local Philly word that can mean just about anything) has walls plastered with TV screens, blasting out everything from baseball and football (American, of course) to basketball and Nascar. Usually, when a menu bangs on about 'our famous' anything, it's time to get out. Fast. But here the 'famous' buffalo wings are really very fine indeed, with crisp crust and juicy flesh and lashings of that sharp, buttery, mildly spicy sauce. 'Best I've eaten in London,' says my son Freddy, who sees himself as something of an authority on the subject. 'Beats the hell out of Wingstop.' For those fools who crave something a touch more fiery, the 'Insanity' wings pack a mighty, albeit slow-burning, punch. I just about get through a half dozen before my lips swell up like a lilo and my tongue transforms into a lump of throbbing gristle. Reader, beware. But I'm here for the cheesesteak – a mass of shaved ribeye 'wit' (with onions), drenched in a flood of warm, neon-yellow cheddar Wiz (their own take on the gloriously artificial Kraft Cheez Whiz liquid cheese) and piled into a long torpedo bun. God it's good, a soothing symphony of savoury, salty and soft. The peppery shards of steak, that judicious hit of grease and excess of luridly gooey liquid cheesy bliss. Each bite is an exuberantly messy delight. It may lack that essential seasoning you'll find at the likes of Geno's Steaks and John's Roast Pork back home. That, though, takes a flat-top grill with decades of use. For cheesesteak-craving Londoners, Passyunk Avenue will do just fine.

Feds spent millions studying trans menstruation, strengthening gay rights in the Balkans, database reveals

FIRST ON FOX: The federal government under the Biden administration doled out more than $174 million in grants and contracts to promote "radical ideas" on gender ideology, including to study menstrual cycles in transgender men and to "shield" the gay community in the Western Balkans, a new database dubbed "Funding Insanity" found. "When Americans pay their taxes every year, they expect that money to go towards projects that help them: strengthening our national defense, building and upgrading infrastructure, protecting our natural resources, etc.," American Principles Project President Terry Schilling said in a statement provided to Fox News Digital. "However, in recent years Democrats have been using public funds to instead push their radical gender agenda here at home and around the world," he said. "Hundreds of millions of dollars have been squandered on programs promoting the idea that human biology doesn't matter. Nothing could better exemplify the disgusting corruption that has taken hold of Washington." The American Principles Project, a conservative nonprofit that bills itself as "America's Top Defender of the Family," published a new database Thursday morning called "Funding Insanity," which details various initiatives — both domestic and abroad — that received hundreds of thousands of dollars from the federal government to promote left-wing gender ideology. The funds examined by the AAP were doled out across the past four years under the Biden administration. In one of the priciest examples on AAP's database, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) obligated $1,929,783 to the American Bar Association as part of a mission to "shield" members of "the LGBTQI+ population in the Western Balkans" by "strengthening human rights, information integrity, equality, and democracy." The Western Balkans includes nations such as Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro and Albania. The Balkans region overwhelmingly does not recognize gay marriage, though nations such as Montenegro recognize "life partnerships" between gay couples. The grant began on Oct. 1, 2024, and was set to run until Sept. 30. The Trump administration, however, paused foreign assistance in January, and USAID is in the midst of an apparent dismantling at the hands of the Department of Government Efficiency. In another example, the Department of Agriculture granted $600,000 to Southern University A&M in Louisiana to study menstrual cycles, including for transgender men and nonbinary people. "The first occurrence of menstruation occurs at approximately 12 years of age and ends with menopause at roughly 51 years of age," the description for the grant states. "A woman will have a monthly menstrual cycle for about 40 years of her life averaging to about 450 periods over the course of her lifetime. "It is also important to recognize that transgender men and people with masculine gender identities, intersex and non-binary persons may also menstruate," it continues. "At any given moment about 26% of the world's population is menstruating." The grant began in April 2024 and is described as a study to "address the growing concerns and issues surrounding menstruation," including the use of natural fibers, such as hemp, for feminine hygiene products. Fox News Digital reached out to the university and the American Bar Association regarding these respective grants but did not immediately receive replies. The Department of Agriculture spent an additional $229,637 to a natural resource management firm on contracts for "Brazil Forest and gender consultant services," according to the database. Gender consultants in forestry services work to promote gender-equality and women's empowerment in the industry. The forestry contract began on Jan 15, 2024, and ended in January, a review of its award profile shows. The State Department, in another example, spent nearly $25,000 in funds to "miscellaneous" foreign groups to premiere a theater production of "The Vagina Monologues" translated to the Gujarati language in India. "To support social change towards women empowerment and ending gender-based violence through theatre, world premier of the Vagina Monologues in Gujarati language in Mumbai and Ahmedabad," the description of the grant reads. "The Vagina Monologues" is a feminist play that first premiered in the U.S. in 1996 that focuses on personal monologues involving topics such as rape, menstrual periods, genital mutilation and prostitution. In another pricey grant, USAID sent $1,065,702 to a Bangladesh welfare group to "support gender diverse people (gdp) through the new shomota (a Bangla word meaning "equality" in English)," the description for the grant reads. Another State Department grant delivered $2,315 to a nongovernmental agency in Nepal to teach English to "professional transgender women makeup entrepreneurs." Schilling continued in his statement provided to Fox Digital that "corruption" involving the federal government using taxpayer funds for left-wing gender initiatives "is finally coming to an end." In November 2024, "the American people gave Donald Trump a clear mandate to drain the swamp, and since taking office he has acted decisively to do so along with Elon Musk and the newly formed Department of Government Efficiency," he said. "We hope President Trump, Musk and DOGE will find this information useful as they work to root out the far left's ideological waste and instead return our government to its true purpose: service for the good of all Americans." Musk and his team of auditors at DOGE are poring through federal databases to identify overspending, fraud and corruption, with their main focus right now involving USAID. Secretary of State Marco Rubio reported on Monday that he is now the acting director of USAID, telling the media that the agency needs to be brought in line with Trump's "America First" policies, which include heightened scrutiny over the distribution of taxpayer funds overseas. USAID's website, since Tuesday evening, notifies readers that staff would be placed on leave globally, except "designated personnel responsible for mission-critical functions, core leadership and specially designated programs." Democrat lawmakers have slammed the Trump administration's apparent dismantling of the agency and targeting of other agencies, such as the Treasury Department, including holding protests in Washington, D.C. "This is the most corrupt bargain we've ever seen in American history: Elon Musk gives $250 million to elect Donald Trump, and Donald Trump turns over the keys to United States government to Elon Musk and his billionaire friends and his cronies," Sen. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md., said during a protest outside the Treasury Department in Washington on Tuesday. "Are we going to let that stand? Hell no, we are not going to let that stand," Van Hollen added, later vowing, "We have to fight this in the courts, we have to fight this in the Congress, we have to fight this in the streets. We need to fight this all over America." White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt slammed such rhetoric as attempts to "incite violence" during a press conference on Wednesday. "It's unacceptable, the comments that have been made by these Democrat leaders, and frankly, they don't even know what they're talking about because President Trump was elected with a mandate from the American people to make this government more efficient," Leavitt responded. "He campaigned across this country with Elon Musk, vowing that Elon was going to head up the Department of Government Efficiency and the two of them with a great team around them were going to look at the receipts of this federal government and ensure it's accountable to American taxpayers. That's all that is happening here," Leavitt continued. "And for Democrat officials to incite violence and encourage Americans to take to the streets is incredibly alarming, and they should be held accountable for that rhetoric."
