We also break down the team's injuries, which piled up in the Montreal game. Inside Inter Miami: Discussing club's highs and lows; can they win MLS title with Messi?
Inter Miami Inside Inter Miami: Discussing club's highs and lows; can they win MLS title with Messi? Inter Miami bounced back from its recent disappointing defeat against Vancouver in the semifinals of the Concacaf Champions Cup with a 4-1 win in MLS league play against the New York Red Bulls. But is the victory the beginning of a turnaround or just a patch as the club deals with larger potential issues down the road? The back-to-back losses against the Vancouver Whitecaps put in doubt for some whether Inter Miami - even with the great Lionel Messi - has enough to win the MLS Cup this season. On the latest episode of Inside Inter Miami, our hosts dive into the issues the team is facing and if they can truly turn things around. We discuss both the highs of last Saturday's win and the lows of the Champions Cup exit with reaction from coach Javier Mascherano, who answered some tough questions about the identity of his team, whether his veterans still have enough in the tank to conquer the MLS contenders that await, and if stylistically this team can impose its will on the rest of the league's best. We'll also look at Fafa Picault's emergence as an impactful part of the team and the way Yannick Bright and Sergio Busquets continue to mesh in the midfield. And finally, we look ahead to Saturday's road clash with Minnesota, which is in second place behind Vancouver in the West. ▪ Remember, you can watch this show on YouTube and on our site at The podcast is available on Spotify, Apple podcasts, and most other platforms where you listen to your pods. Inside Inter Miami: Lionel Messi hurt again, but club rolls into FIFA break unbeaten
Lionel Messi returned to action. He scored a goal in each of Inter Miami's two victories - one to advance in the Concacaf Champions Cup and the other to earn some payback vs. Atlanta United. And then he got hurt again. As a result, Messi did not travel to join the Argentine national team for its upcoming World Cup qualifying matchups vs. rivals Uruguay and Brazil. On this latest episode of Inside Inter Miami, hosts Michelle Kaufman and Andre Fernandez discuss Messi's latest injury setback and the impact it has in the short and long term on Inter Miami. We also recap Inter Miami's victory over Cavalier in Jamaica during which Messi gave the fans a thrill with a late goal, and his spectacular goal to level the score early in Miami's 2-1 comeback win over Atlanta, which coach Javier Mascherano said 'only Messi can do.' We also go over Fafa Picault's impressive game-winning header in the 89th minute in what was his first game back from injury. Miami is 7-0-1 across all competitions so far and just wrapped up that stretch of success in just a 26-day period. We look at what's next and what's been the key to that success despite having Messi available for less than half of that span. ▪ Remember, you can watch this show on YouTube and on our site at The podcast is available on Spotify, Apple podcasts, and most other platforms where you listen to your pods. Inside Inter Miami: Still unbeaten, but when will Lionel Messi return?
So far, mostly so good for Inter Miami in 2025. The club is 5-0-1 across all competitions, which includes a 3-0 start in the Concacaf Champions Cup. It also includes three wins in its past three matches while resting superstar Lionel Messi. So when will the icon return to the pitch? On the latest episode of Inside Inter Miami, hosts Michelle Kaufman and Andre Fernandez discuss when that realistically could be with the club scheduled to travel to Jamaica for the second leg of its Champions Cup Round of 16 matchup with Cavalier on Thursday night. The team needs to balance this trip with a potentially crucial and emotionally-charged rematch Sunday night at Atlanta United - the team that eliminated Miami in the first round of the MLS playoffs a year ago. Here are some of the other topics Kaufman and Fernandez discussed on a jam-packed episode: ▪ We review the club's win over Cavalier and a resilient defensive performance in a 1-0 victory over Charlotte FC in MLS season play. ICYMI, the team won despite losing Oscar Ustari to a red card and playing with 10 players for more than half of the match. ▪ We talk about Tadeo Allende's hot start and his four-game scoring streak as well as the repercussions of the club's third red card in as many games, which could massively strain their goalkeeper depth for the match vs. Atlanta. ▪ Luis Suarez continues to be the engine that drives the club's offense not just by scoring, but by his creativity as a distributor. ▪ And we dive heavily into the team's major turnaround on defense, highlighting Yannick Bright and Noah Allen's contributions. And congrats to Allen, who was invited to play for the Greek national team. ▪ This and updates on key injured players and the team's latest Argentine signing - midfielder Baltasar Rodriguez, who is on loan from Argentine club, Racing. ▪ Remember, you can watch this show on YouTube and on our site at The podcast is available on Spotify, Apple podcasts, and most other platforms where you listen to your pods.
