Egypt's PM inspects several services, development projects in Assiut
CAIRO – April 10, 2025: Egyptian Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly began an inspection tour Thursday of several services and development projects in Assiut Governorate. He reaffirmed his commitment to continuing field visits across various sectors—health, education, utilities, sanitation, and more—as part of his broader effort to monitor progress, address implementation challenges, and ensure timely project completion for public benefit. This visit also coincides with Assiut Governorate's National Day celebrations, reflecting the Egyptian state's growing focus on the development of Upper Egypt. In this context, the Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development announced that 20 national health projects are expected to be completed during the 2024–2025 fiscal year. These projects span 11 governorates and are being implemented at an estimated cost of EGP 11.7 billion, providing a total of 2,649 hospital beds. He also noted that from 2014 to 2025, a total of 13 development projects have been completed in Assiut alone, with a combined value exceeding EGP 1 billion. As part of the visit, Prime Minister Madbouly toured the Assiut Ophthalmology Hospital, where he inspected its ophthalmology research facility, which includes eye x-ray machine provided by the government. Another research room, established through community participation, was also visited. Dr. Christine Tadros, Director of the Hospital, briefed the Prime Minister on its history and services. Established in 1911, the hospital is considered a historically significant building. It spans 2,500 square meters and serves the entire governorate with high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic services. The Prime Minister also visited the Ahmed Deif Allah International School of Applied Technology, as well as the livestock station in Al-Hamam village, located in the Abnub district. Madbouly directed that the livestock station and similar projects be offered to the private sector for more efficient management and operation. The initiative aims to reduce meat and dairy prices by selling directly to citizens. The 14-acre station includes 32 plots of agricultural land for feed production and contains 19 livestock pens with a total capacity of up to 1,000 head of cattle. Additionally, the Prime Minister inspected the Central Drinking Water Laboratory at the station. Occupying 1,200 square meters, the facility is part of the Integrated Water Solutions Technical Support Project (IWSSTA). His tour also included the renovation and upgrade project for the Czech filtered water station in East Assiut. Concluding his visit to Assiut Governorate, Prime Minister Madbouly distributed electric wheelchairs to 22 individuals with disabilities. He emphasized the state's unwavering commitment to supporting people with disabilities, stating they remain a top national priority.
