ANI Originating from Uttar Pradesh and having no ties to the film industry, Rukhsar Rehman stepped into cinema during the 1990s. Fast forward to 2025, after navigating numerous personal and professional highs and lows, Rukhsar stands proud and content, boasting a versatile career spanning Bollywood films, web series, and several brand endorsements. In a candid conversation with ANI, she reflected on her journey built on determination and resilience, also sharing her experience of working with Salman Khan. Rukhsar previously worked alongside Salman in Rumy Jaffery's God Tussi Great Ho (2008). Interestingly, she revealed that she was initially cast as the female lead opposite Salman in Sanam Bewafa."I was to do that film (Sanam Bewafa) but that film had a contract, and my father was not okay with that contract. He said, 'we won't be able to do it.' I had already filmed for 3-4 days before the things changed. Interestingly, the makers went ahead with the character's name 'Rukhsar' only," she recalled."But years later, I got the opportunity to work with Salman again. I played the role of his sister in 'God Tussi Great Ho'. Had a great time working on that film," she added. While Rukhsar acknowledges that destiny plays a major role in life, she admits it's not always easy when projects fall through or opportunities are lost. She shared that she once struggled with anxiety over such situations but has since learned to accept them as part of the profession."I used to get anxious. Agar kabhi kuch kaam nahi hota tha .. audition dene ke baad sochti rehti thi ki mujhe role milega ya nahi but now I know how to deal with such situations. Ab thoda sabar agaya hai mujhme with time. (I have become more patient with time). I feel this is all part and parcel of the profession," Rukhsar working with the late Rishi Kapoor at age 17 in Inteha Pyar Ki to delivering impactful performances in D, Sarkar, PK, and Uri: The Surgical Strike, Rukhsar has carved a remarkable path. Her daughter, Aisha, has also followed in her footsteps into acting."I am so proud of Aisha. She is doing so good. Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], August 10 (ANI): Hailing from Uttar Pradesh, Rukhsar Rehman, with no film background, entered the world of movies in 90s. And now in 2025, , after navigating the many ups and downs of her personal and professional journey, Rukshar, stands tall with pride and no regrets, holding a diverse portfolio which encompasses Bollywood films, web series, and even multiple brand endorsements. In a candid chat with ANI, Rukhsar reflected on her career built on hard work and resilience, sharing insights on working with Salman Khan. She has worked with Salman in Rumy Jaffery's 'God Tussi Great Ho' in 2008. But what many don't know is that she was actually supposed to play the lead opposite Salman in 'Sanam Bewafa'. "I was to do that film (Sanam Bewafa) but that film had a contract, and my father was not okay with that contract. He said, 'we won't be able to do it.' I had already filmed for 3-4 days before the things changed. Interestingly, the makers went ahead with the character's name 'Rukhsar' only," she recalled. "But years later, I got the opportunity to work with Salman again. I played the role of his sister in 'God Tussi Great Ho'. Had a great time working on that film," she added. Rukhsar believes that while destiny plays a significant role in life, it's never easy to process when a project doesn't work out or an opportunity slips away. She admits that she used to feel anxious often, but over time, she has learned to cope with these challenges, viewing them as a "part and parcel" of the acting profession. "I used to get anxious. Her decision surprised many, as she had the screen presence, charm, and talent to go far. Instead of fame, she chose distance leaving behind what could've been glorious Bollywood run. Bollywood Actress Rukhsar Rehman Here we are talking about actress Rukhsar Rehman, who made her debut in the 1992 romantic movie 'Yaad Rakhegi Duniya', helmed by Deepak Anand. The film featured Aditya Pancholi, a famous actor from that time, in the main role. However, the actress captured all the attention. The movie was also a success. Yet, the actress' career did not flourish as much. She was found by director Sawan Kumar Tak, who wanted to cast her in his film. However, he asked Ruksar to sign a three-year contract, which she declined. This led to Rukhsar being replaced by Chandni in 1991's, Sanam Bewafa. That same year, she appeared alongside Rishi Kapoor in Inteha Pyar Ki. Rukhsar gained attention after her role in Inteha Pyar Ki, despite it was declared as big flop, Rukhsar was approached with many big films, but she then made the difficult choice to leave films to focus on her education. Rukhsar's father wanted her to finish her studies, so he called her back. Rukhsar respected her father's wishes and returned to Rampur. She was offered roles in Saugandh, Baazigar, and 1942: A Love Story, but she turned down all these offers, which allowed other actresses to benefit. After completing her education, Rukhsar chose to return to acting, making her comeback after ten years with Ram Gopal Varma's D (2005). However, she was only receiving offers for supporting roles, with actors Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan and others in Sarkar, God Tussi Great Ho, PK, Shaitan and Uri: The Surgical Strike. At the same time, Rukhsar gained recognition on television with shows like Kuch Toh Log Kahenge and Tumhari Paakhi. Rukhsar Rehman's Personal Life Rukhsar was initially married to actor Asad Ahmed, and they have a daughter, actress Aisha Ahmed. After a few years, Rukhsar and Asad separated. Meanwhile, after her first divorce Rukhsar came to her father's house, who lives in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh. After some days, she opened a garment boutique to earn a living. In this way, she started earning a living from this boutique and started raising her daughter. In 2010, she took marriage vows with director Faruk Kabir. However, Rukhsar and Faruk also got separated in 2023. Currently, Rukhsar is living with her daughter in Mumbai.
