Libya marks International DNA Day
The General Authority for Research and Identification of Missing Persons in Libya held an academic forum on International DNA Day under the theme: 'Our message — from an encrypted code to a real name.' The event aimed to highlight the critical role of DNA in identifying victims of conflict and uncovering the fate of missing persons. The forum was attended by the Authority's president, Kamal Al-Siwi, alongside a number of prominent academics, including university professors, forensic scientists, and researchers in the field of genetics. Participants delivered a series of scientific lectures exploring the diverse applications of DNA technology in humanitarian work and criminal investigations. The event also featured a roundtable discussion on the Authority's ongoing efforts and operational challenges. At the close of the forum, lecturers were honoured for their contributions to raising public awareness of genetic science and advancing research into missing persons.
